Wild Camping - Kelly's Lough Wicklow Mountains

- Kelly's Lough is a corrie lake found in South Wicklow beneath Corrigasleggaun. A 15km looped hike along forest trail makes it very accessible and a fantastic spot to pitch a tent. The thrill of watching the sunrise the next morning following a wild camp with the sun gradually illuminating the mountains around me will be remembered for quite a while.

Another beautiful short film Miriam...you've got a real talent for it! 🙂. I'm hoping to get to Ireland in mid May, for a month of cycling, wild camping and hostelling. I'm thinking of doing it on 'Minnie the Mixte'... a vintage(1989) Mixte framed Dawes Galaxy, 18 speed Tourer. Bought it on ebay cheap last summer, cos no saddle, pedals...or front wheel! It's fully restored now though and has dynohub lighting fitted! Just a couple of minor issues to sort before she's ready. Oh BTW...after watching vids of you and Susannah Thornton touring on Brommies I actually went and bought a new one last week! 😂. My first new bike since 1993,but I sweated about it a bit cos even with £400 off RRP and a free Messenger bag, toolkit and Ergon grips thrown in it was still a lot of money(shop was closing!)... for me! 😀. Thanks Graeme - that was a lovely little camp, so nice, I loved it! I was beginning to make friends with the drone on that trip and get a little more confident with it. Wow - you sound like you’re getting all set for your Ireland adventure, brilliant stuff!! And congrats on your big purchase - wahoooooo! I don’t own any other bike besides by Brompton so I don’t have the luxury of all those gears on your Tourer 🤗 I hope you get as much satisfaction form your Brompton as I do anyway - I’m still a big fan!! I’m hoping to do an overnight with the Brompton this weekend and bringing the camera along. I’m off to Connemara tomorrow for a big hike with the camera and if I feel up to it, I’ll do the Brompton trip then on Saturday. Fingers crossed I’ll be able to get some footage - finally the storms have left us for now so I’m jumping at the chance of getting some footage of trips I’ve wanted to do. @@MiriamKennedy yeh I think the drone shots make a difference, but I haven't even tried doing a vlog yet, so small steps and all that! 😂 I'm actually currently chasing a GoPro round various family members! It's my son's, but when I ask different people about it they've always lent it to another member of the family! 🙄. I finally located it at my daughter's...but she needs to download her Vietnam stuff from a couple of years ago, everytime I ask...Jesus!🙄. Oh you DEFINITELY need more than one bike Miriam....and has the old saying goes...you can NEVER have enough bikes! 😀. I've got 8 working one's I think, a few others that need restoring...and a few frames hanging in wardrobes😂. They all have different purposes though and are nearly all vintage...my oldest being a 1951 Hill Special, built by master frame builder Adam Hill, at his then small handmade cycle frame works in Padiham, Lancashire...the small industrial town I was born in. Aw thank you! We have plenty of deer in the Wicklow mountains but no reindeer unfortunately 🙃 There was beautiful light for this video - such a wonderful experience to camp that night. I loved it, it was my first time to see frost on my tent, which was very exciting for me!! Hopefully I’ll do a snow camp this winter, - no shortage of snow camping opportunities in Finland! @@MiriamKennedy You are right Milady, that light was very beautiful, this video was very relaxing too. Great that there are only deers, because reindeer are very bad animals, they can only be handled by short and brave Sámi peoples and Santa Claus.

@@MiriamKennedy Milady ... it's not worth laughing now, there are a lot of missing people in Lapland ... and the reindeer are suspected to have eaten them. Lapland and reindeer are beautiful ... but there is very dangerous .... in Lapland.

Miriam, I don't think that sky could have been any bluer and how amazing was that sunset 😊A fantastic camping spot. The cold comes with the clear at this time of year - a fair trade I think for those evening and morning light/views. Lovely footage of the lough. A very chilled watch 👍👍
