Agreeed. I have this phone in white, and i am very pleased with it. Performance wise it is snappy, and it has a great benchmark of 1677- quite a feat for a single core 800mhz phone... And the score is higher than 1GHZ phones like the Desire HD. so im impressed by it. Guys.. you no need high end phones like the Galaxy S3 to be a good phone....

I was close to buying this when I bought my first phone 2 years back, Im glad I didnt. Its the most atrocious excuse for a phone Ive ever used along with the Atrix 2. Sub par screen resolution for a 4 inch phone, worst camera ever, washed out colors, the slightest tilt of the phone will make the colors shift you have to look at it completely straight forward, slower than the Samsung Prevail which is a year older, 600 mhz processor and 256 mb of ram yet its less laggy than this crap. I bought a Sony Xperia Miro instead and it beat the crap out of all its competition for the time, I knew people with an alcatel S Pop, M Pop, Lg L5, Huawei Fusion 2, Samsung galaxy Ace, its better than all of them. Only one in the same range I prefer is the Xperia U, absolute pleasure to use.
those are the proximity sensors... or maybe the ambient light sensors. Proximity sensors are useful when calling, as when the phone gets near ur face when you call, the sensor detects that the phone is near your face and the screen turns off to prevent misclicking. light sensors are useful when u want the phone's display's brightness to be adjusted automatically depending on where u are. the sensors will sense how much light is there and they will adjust the screen brightness accordingly.
The display option they mentioned is found in the contacts app. Launch the contacts app -> press the menu button -> display options -> tap all contacts. below the ''all contacts'' options are catagories of your contacts. (e.g. : Whatsapp contacts, Skype contacts etc) hope this helps. :)
I had 2 new Sony Xperia Sola's but they didn't work at all.. After two days of using L5 I have nothing to complain except some situations the prosessor gets slow.. Beautiful phone and elegant design. I like it. The earphones are shitty tough.. I recommend to buy this! :)

I have this phone right now as my latest. I got it a year ago as a pass-me-down, but it was still an upgrade, as my older smartphone runs Android 2.3, and has a lesser camera with no flashlight. Long story short, the UA-cam app stopped working in Gingerbread in December 2018; and by then, my bank had stopped supporting code cards. In January, I upgraded the _L5_ to Android 4.1.2, which just happens to be the oldest version still supported by the Smart-ID app, by the Estonian e-vote verification app, and by my bank app. Yay. In 2019, most Google apps, SmartID, and my bank app require 20-30 seconds to start up on this device. The Play Store app can take from 45 seconds to a minute. Skype no longer functions, though, and apart from Hangouts, I don't have any other social media apps on this phone.
of course you can! The benchmark of this phone is not 1470, but actually 1677! Its higher than older 1GHZ phones like HTC Desire S, and HTC Thunderbolt. So yeah.. it's capable of lots of apps.
not quite of an issue. I own one so i Know how it feels like. Viewing angles are bad, but don't let that be a push factor. If you view the screen directly, Its bright and vivid, but not crisp, thanks to the small screen resolution.. And if u are OPTIMistic enough, treat the bad viewing angles as some sort of privacy screen protector :)

After you root it get a custom rom from XDAdevelopers website whatever one you like and get "SetCpu" and you can overclock (when you are playing games) and underclock(when your sceen is off) etc. Hope that helps
The LG Optimus L5 is frankly a good Mid ranger. But..., if the Screen resolution can be bumped up to at least 480x800, Make the viewing angles much, much better, and have the pixel density increased to 180ppi, that will be an ideal LG Optimus L5 for me, in my opinion.

Overclocking the phone will cause the battery life to be lesser as a faster processor eats up more battery life and there will be a risk of the phone overheating quickly and malfunctioning fast as the overclocked speed is not what the processor is made to handle

Its plastic... but its good for some reasons Durable and won't break. But it can be scratched easily, But don't be upset by the plastic screen, Its CAPACITIVE, Not RESISTIVE, so it works as well as other glass screened capacitive touchscreen phones :) Get a screen protector for it ASAP, as the plastic screen is prone to scratches.

My L5 is really slow and can take up to 2 mins to call someone with full signal, is this a loose connection should i take it back? The actual screen is really slow in loading also and can take up to a minute to get onto any aplication or even to unlock the home screen....

Still shows on the menu's screen theres unread messages but if you open your message there's nothing. Sorry for bad english but please help me. Got no message in my inbox but in my menu its shows 2 unread messages. Its annoying everytime i look to my phone got a messages.. lastly evendo i change my sim card its always keep showing up. Thanks hope someone can help me.
And about HD recording people buy costly handy cams for it. not mobile phones. Said so.. as the saying goes.. "the more sugar you put.. sweeter is the deal" so spend more money to get more. And this phone is the sweetest deal in the price range...
Hi Thanks for the update. I was thinking of buying the Optimus L5 2 (single sim). LG has upgraded this phone to 4.1.2 JB now. My requirements are a good music phone with a decent camera with flash. So should i go for this? My other option is Sony Xperia E (which too runs on 4.1.2 JB is less costlier that L5 and has a 3.2MP camera without flash as compared to 5MP of L5). I also like Nokia Lumia 520 but I am afraid that since it's a Windows Phone, I'd be handicapped as far as apps are concerned.
Thats funny like in this review they say that most phones in its price range comes with gingerbread and on l3 review was wrong that it has that old slow gingerbread. So low end phones comes with ics and mid range with gingerbread, thats interesting

It is 4.1. Different companies have different UI for the same version of android, maybe thats where you're getting confused.

No it doesnt. i own the white L5 and i can say it runs fast and little lags..
and the calling is great. no hanging up and log.
I rooted my phone and flashed CyanogenMod 10.1 rom. Fast and smooth, im happy :)

Yes it's true... but don't worry! the memory is 2.65GB- u can put up to at most a hundred apps....

We can use facebook on this phone.. but it's not preinstalled when u open it out of the box. you gotta install it from google play.

Yes it support wassap. A good phone , good design n style but abit laggy when putting many stuff on it. But for its price its good cant complain.

I used ADW to remove the google tool bar was the only way i could do it..
