  • The Jet gaskets on my swim spa were disintegrating but they weren't leaking yet because the gasket material was still water tight next to the pvc pipe. (photo at the end of the video of gasket and jet before cleaning off bad gasket material. I cleaned the failing gasket material with string (using like dental floss) (no pictures sorry) and applied Locktite PL Marine adhesive sealant to 16 jets and light.
I will try to remember to report if this repair (covering up the still functioning part of the green gasket material with the Loctite) periodically.
Final note. Some spa experts recommend other products like silicone. There are even silicone products that say "Spa and Pool Silicone" like Boss 802. But the technical sheet for Boss 802 and other Silicone products advise not to use the product below water line. Since all of the jets are below the waterline I chose the Loctite PL Marine because it says it is okay below the water line. I hope this was the right decision.
The job was easy, just messy. I used a mirror to make sure the green gasket material was covered all around the jet.
If water is already leaking through the gasket, I don't know if this process will prolong the life of the spa. Might, but I don't know if this process is going to work prolong the life of my swim spa.
Okay I have room to continue so I will. I contacted one expert pool and spa repair person and he said he has tried to fix this type of problem but that the failure of the gasket was a clue that other things (like the internal flex piping was going to go next. He has also tried to replace the jets and gaskets but found the intern piping didn't glue well to the new parts because of age. Just warning that if your spa or swimspa is 15-20 years old it might be wearing out.
