After a $26 billion takeover, a new owner wants to take away lunch breaks & destroy the union.

I hate Nestle and try my best not to buy their product. They have proven time and time again they don't care about people, just profit.

I'm right there with you, I wish it were easier though, Nestle owns so many companies that even when I think I'm buying independent and buying local m ymoneys winding up in their pockets anyway.
While I somewhat understand the rain collecting law in California…the fact that the Nestle CEO at one point said he wanted to both induce water scarcity, and own it all was the turning point for me. The Great Lakes are still being tapped illegally like the episode on Conspiracy Theory showed because of these water bottle companies using labor to bottle it here, and then sell it back to the US consumer for double triple profit.
Now low tide spots have already hit bedrock in spots you couldn’t even ford in the past, and they’re still siphoning water from the Great Lakes in between local construction and pollution.
Edit: I looked it up because I remembered something and it was actually THE BUSH family, (Jr.) that deregulated corporation’s ability to siphon water from the Great Lakes. Before he did that it was practically deemed unconstitutional to siphon from them as they house almost all local biodiversity to the Midwest.
Fast forward to now and since corporations have been siphoning them for well over a decade, AND we’ve seen endless train pollution derailments that have brought the little remaining water supply to soil-there’s now lethally toxic levels in the soil and water of many of these low tide swamps.
Now when the rains come, they rise the low tides and cause endless toxic runoff that kills everything local in the soil including all local agriculture and everything we consume.
Greed will be the death of us all.

@@junebug9320 Exactly 2500 various subsidiarys makes it hard. Go to any grocery store look around and realize that despite the appearance of "options". There is only roughly 10 companys supplying the food side of store. Just with "different branding".
I did pretreated milk machine operator. The box milk that you pierce with straw. And same machine will make about 12 "brands". You load the paper roll for x "brand" and just pump it. For generic white milk not really any difference. Flavored they would have different temperatures. Some brands were worried about burnt or caramalizing others were worried about bacteria.
That said bacteria we let sit for month if packaging malformed it was bad on top of lab testing one in every so often. As well as multiple packing strength test.
As for formula only thing that really changed was amount of sugar. More so with strawberry the "chocolate" change some but strawberry depending on brand was double or triple the amount. All packaged at same place.
Stay strong workers. These companies DO NOT EXIST WITHOUT YOU!

$167 a week for health insurance for a family. That’s $668 every four weeks. That’s $8684 a year in insurance premiums. I work in a petroleum refinery and I thought that health insurance was too expensive. It’s a little over $400 a month for a family. It’s $4812 a year. But her insurance premiums are 80.4% higher. That’s crazy. It shouldn’t cost that much to access affordable healthcare. It’s too expensive.

Its crazy how all ive heard about this year is the entertainment business strikes and auto worker strikes, but when it comes to something meaningful like the food industry like literally no coverage on worker conditions its crazy. I feel like all unions need to raise each other and spread awareness more. Together stronger.

This is why I have always voted against raising CEOs pay at the companies that I own shares in. It doesn't matter if the company does well, I never vote for the CEO to have a raise for the quarter. Always vote when you get your prospectus form and don't think it takes too long. 4 hours of research and then voting makes a difference, it's your obligation and responsibility as a shareholder to insure right prevails.
I never had paid lunch breaks. All my employers believed you were off the clock while you were eating lunch.

When people have bills and a family to feed they simply can’t just quit their job. That is a factor that is predominantly a major concern. A job can limit a person in that aspect and in doing so creates a situation where a person is held captive and or oppressed because they have no other choice but to stay. That within and of itself is a form of slavery.
Either you're lying or you were the worst truck driver in the country to only be making 10/hr after 20 years or you were driving when 10/hr was actually a lot of money. I know for a fact that 20 years ago (actually 23 years ago) someone fresh out of driving school with their CDL was starting at 15/hr plus $.30/mile so if part of your "20 years" experience includes any time this century that means you were so bad you were worth less than the people with no prior professional driving experience.

Listen, you may not believe this, but as somebody who has taken the time to learn from factory workers and comes from a family of factory workers, there are people who take a lot of pride in this work. They just wish their salaries could allow them to enjoy buying the products they make.

In wausau wisconsin we gave a 3M factory, for years we had dangerous levels of PFAs in our water, the city invested in the best water Filtration system so we now have the best water in the country. Our water bills will increase 50% to pay for that, how come the infrastructure bill or the poluting companies are not having to pay for this??

Capitalism uses fascism against the workers. Police were originally slave hunters. USA's entire puritan history is causing human rights abuses.
The 13th Amendment also allows people in prison to be enslaved. At the time it was written, states just made a bunch of laws criminalizing black people to force them back into slavery. Today we have the war or drugs, overpolicing poor communities, racial profiling, and a pay-to-win justice system to thank for the disproportionate racial makeup of incarcerated people.
Meanwhile back in Africa, Nestle collects water all for itself, runs a campaign that "formula be just as good as milk from the mother", then makes it a choice between expensive formula mixed with dirty water because families couldn't afford clean water in addition to the formula or malnutrition for the youngin' because $$$ 😢

This is why I believe in entrepreneurship. This kind of treatment drives an individual to step out on their own. Build your own wealth and be your own Boss. I have a Senior Care Business and there is nothing more liberating than having your own. I believe that Black Americans should start more businesses.
Break up these conglomerates, and enforce anti-trust laws. These giant companies have too much power over the markets and the working conditions
Nestle is definately one of the most evil, greedy corporations in the world. I´ve tried to boycott them but am constantly surprised at what they own.

It's easy to say "Find a better job" when you have one or are retired or say "Make your own!" when you were born with a silver spoon in your mouth and your dad gave you your first job when you got your MBA and have lots of financial backing from him and a pre-made business network.
Honestly where this will head to. I'm doing more to support local made and small business.
I agree, my father's generation still think things are like the old world where if you get a stable job.. things will be good. But even stable jobs that use to pay well have something 🤔 fishy about them or have way more stress than they use to be..

I've been boycotting Nestle for several years now, as difficult as it's been.
@@Theomite In the 70's, it was discovered that Nestle, was promoting their baby formula in South America. The water was bad, (which the formula required) and a lot of babies died. They discouraged breast feeding. I have boycotted Nestle, ever since.

When you in big corporations and warehouses like Nestle, Abbot, Frito Lay, Amazon, or any other warehouse….Those are some pretty big places and the amount of work that you do, takes up all of your energy. And Again, people have to provide for their families, their kids, pay bills, car notes, and more that’s gotta be handled. It don’t matter what color a person is. Everyone deserves to be treated fairly. These higher ups in these companies know that regular employees need better pay and benefits.
They will hire those who just crossed the border and won't complain. It's completely messed up, but look at Smithfield and chicken processing plants that replaced their workers with people who don't have the legal status to work in the U.S.
This is why we cannot get immigration reform. Big companies prefer semi-slave labor buying off our representatives who should represent our interest but instead represent the interest of the donor class.

We should boycott all corporations because billionaires control most of them by ownership of the company stock. Those billionaires are definitely out to enslave us all by using corporations to donate to politicians who will help billionaires enslave us all in their NWOrder. I used to visit my friends in-laws with him and he complained all the time the company wants to cut the one hour lunch to half an hour, the company wants to cut overtime. Every few months the company said they would have to close down if they could not cut some sort of benefit after a few years all the benefits were cut and then they sold the company.

This country is seriously overdue in legislating robust worker rights to be on par with the EU. We need federally mandated regulation for minimum paid and sick time off, parental leave, and minimum wage that requires recalibration every 2 years to match inflation.
It would be nice if employers were required to give breaks even as a minium.

I'm from Denmark, Scandinavia, Europe. And the shit going on "over there" is crazy. In Denmark we have a early negotiation with participation of all unions, the employer organizations and the government. Here they discuss and negotiate salary increases between these three main market representatives. All calm and fair and transparent. Our unions are still strong

Health insurance with a job was always unnecessary to me. Definitely makes more sense to get it independently
She talks about how you might lose your life using that equipment. That's definitely a reason to pay your workers more and respect them. As delivery drivers out there, we don't get paid enough. A lot of the times if you're not driving a semi or have your own company, you get taken advantage of by these big time corporations that run the food delivery and package delivery enterprises that employ so many people. It's like $20 an hour to go out there every day and bring things to people and you're risking your life in the process. Risk benefits should be assessed for each profession and if the risk is high, there should be a governmental scale to add to the base pay of minimum wage per hour to that person's wage.
