Thanks Matt. Been learning lots from your videos. Couple of questions - (1) how do choose between using the original vs centered Z-file? (2) when you crown, do you recommend rolling the Z-file off the end of the fret so that it hits the beveled part too or just straight through? Thanks much!!
As you’ve mentioned doing, I have kept the back of the neck flat as long as possible and have pressed in the frets. Would you shape the neck before level/dress/polish or after? Does it matter? Thanks for the excellent tutorial!
I love this channel. Just don't buy a Fender guitar and the fretboard might be quite nice. Fender does shit fretwork for whatever reason, bean counters may have decided to just install frets and call it a day.
Thank you for taking the time out to make this series and educate us, I am really enjoying this series. I am still confused on one point. If using a flat sanding beam to level frets, wont that affect the radius up and down the neck. I have one guitar that has some fret buzz with a couple of frets not level with the others that needs correcting, but want to do it right and don't want to make it worse.
Thanks for the great info. You mentioned that a fret rocker can show a high fret when there isn’t one. What’s one doing wrong when that happens? I’m pretty sure I’m doing it.
Great video brotha! Is Nortons Synthetic Steel Wool & 3M's Scotch Brite both equivalent in grit or whatev else??? Just bought both & excited to try em, been using sandpaper til now. I can level like a pro, but my crown/polish still needs some reps. Thanks for all the "know how"! 🎸
I find these videos very helpful. I just hope UA-cam doesn’t do anything stupid and lose them as they are great reference repositories and you will only need them when you need them. There have been videos in the past that have disappeared and I don’t mean Matt’s. when I’m doing something there’s always the thought that a specific video I saw months ago would need to be re-viewed to get the process right and sure as eggs, I can’t find it due to whatever reason. Anyway enough of the BS, great series and great video Matt. Keep ‘em coming!
You know, I kinda did forget about the 600 or 800 sandpaper before. There were so few scratches and I didn't really want to fart around with finding it during the video
Very timely: I am working on a friend's old, beater guitar, as a quid pro quo: it helps him out, and I gain experience. His frets desperately need to be leveled. Thanks Matt for a great video!
My 8 year old son likes the intro song....air guitars away when he hears it.
He needs to watch the episodes in chronological order. FANTASTIC theme song back then!
That is awesome John, I'm totally honored to hear this.
Really digging this video series -- keep up the good work, Matt! :D
Great job making this video, thanks.
Thanks amigo
Thanks Matt. Great information to know. 👍👍👍🎸
Happy to help my friend
Clampett, Jed...Buffett, Jimmy, Love it! Great video, Matt. Keep 'em coming.
You got it brotherman

If I had to choose between the two I would choose the original every time

Thanks Matt, excellent, I was wondering how to use one of those z files. Great Video by the pros at Texas Toast.
Love this video series.
Thanks my friend

If I were to guess, and I would have to guess, I would say they are similar

Just download the videos you want to keep and put them on a drive
Can't wait for the "big stuff"!
Great video. Thank you Matt! So after leveling and crowning, I can go right from maroon Scotch-Brite to the buffer without any grits in between?

@@TexasToastGuitars Cool. Thanks for responding! So it’s Scotch-Brite (or 320-400 sandpaper), 600, 800 and then buffer? Cheers
That icon guitar looks good
It is going to be a sweet guitar that's for sure
