  • Small improvements. Mainly reading the notes and knowing basically where my fingers are, that bit better. It is starting to stick :-D
I'm committed to genuine progress. While I could rehearse a piece of music multiple times before recording, it doesn't seem to reflect true improvement. So, I opt to record immediately, and I notice some days are better than others, perhaps influenced by the time of day. Even the act of pressing the record button can be distracting enough to disrupt me, but I aspire to reach a level of proficiency where such things no longer matter. Keeping it real. 😄

You say you want to show genuine progress by not rehearsing the piece, what makes you believe that is how you show genuine progress? Are you sight reading?? If so then that makes sense.

All this months clips I recorded on the same day but didn't have time to upload them all together. So this 2nd batch of 8 clips I uploaded, I just copy and paste the comment. But yeah, with Swan Lake I have played it that much and I learnt it in 3 or 4 chunks overtime, that now I can play by memory and no need to sight read. But I do need to get round to playing the left hand part, i tried once and it felt too much for me at the time. But because I played it so much, and stopped sight reading, which I still need to get to that point its instant to me, I thought I needed something new again. After a while playing the same music, things become memory which is good but doesn't help always in getting better, especially when sometimes you still have to think for sight reading?

@@NRN_NET I personally can’t sight read very well at all. I struggle with Grade 1 stuff and definitely could not sight read to the level that you play in your videos. On a rare occasion I can sometimes sight read hard pieces but they have to have some feature then that make it really easy for my skill set.
But the thing is I haven’t started to try to sight read properly until recently, only doing so for grades. I prefer studying pieces since I see it as a truly amazing journey of musical ideas and harmonies, especially when it comes to Chopin. I am also motivated by difficulty and fascinated by complexity, that’s why I generally endeavour into pieces like Fantasie Impromptu and Chopin’s Ballades.

@@FriskaPiano Wow, It's surprising, yet your musical talent is evident, and your natural flair for playing is impressive. With such a skilful start at a young age, as mentioned earlier, you have the potential to achieve great success.
