nope. never with this one! We have a couple times had birds find their way into it from a whole in the bottom and get stuck inside but never got stuck in the net itself.
nice job ... upgrading and enlarging my pepper enclosure this weekend ... birds are tearing them up ... I have the cheap bird netting ... it is a pain to stretch
I'm starting up my garden, and omggg I can't believe how annoying the birds are. They just come and peck the main stem of slim plants killing them, they don't even eat them haha
wow really? That's not good. My chickens like to eat the buds so I have to cover them around this time of year when they are free ranging so they don't eat them.
@@joshdavis3304 Wow that's crazy. I've never had birds eat anything in my garden other than blueberries or corn seeds but I don't direct sow those anymore so it's not an issue.
Hmm not sure I haven't had that problem. Mice traps maybe? Or can try using netting but if they are digging under the ground then that probably won't work.
I don't like bird netting. It can tangle up a bird and while I don't want them eating my blueberries I have no intention of harming or killing them trying to deter them. So I bought thin, 6 foot tall poles at Tractor Supply and some wide reflective tape. I have six BB bushes in a row and I used 12 poles with the tape at the top and the middle of each pole and I cut the strips into 18 inch lengths. This has kept the birds off my blueberries without harming them. It was easy to put up and didn't cost all that much to do. So much better than bird netting.
yes I agree the regular bird netting that is commonly sold traps birds and we learned that the hard way. but this bird netting that we use now has never once had a bird get stuck in it. I have had a bird sneak into the blueberries from the corner and get trapped inside the net but never had one get trapped in the net itself since we started using this brand.
If you can only choose 3 varieties, which ones would you go for? Best tasting most productive really in all aspects what ones stand out the most? Thank you
I am planing on buying bluecrop, patriot and goldtraube are these any good? I am asking because some of your berries are highly productive in the video and some aren't. Thank you
I would probably go with chandler, briggitta and blue ray. They're my most productive. If you like large berries. If you want a smaller berry variety maybe the sunshine blueberry.
@@gapey are the bigger ones sweeter or more tangy? I wish birds just left our gardens alone I am new to gardening it's amazing I can never get bored of it there's too much to learn but animals are very hard keep up with in London it's very green so many birds squirrels foxes neighbors cats slugs and snails its very challenging thank you for your help birds are not touching my recently growing pairs for some reason I don't really know why maybe it's too big for their mouth that's why I also thought it might be a good idea to get big blueberries :)
@@gurkankaracan8418 I don't think the bigger ones are sweeter. I think the smaller ones are more sweet but I like the bigger ones cuz they are easier to pick. :) Pink lemonade is a more tart one but it's not very productive in my garden.
Once the birds find out you have blueberries you'll never get any screening is a must .Good job.
That's the truth! They seem to get worse every year. Doesn't help that the neighbors have a big berry farm so that really attracts them.
A pellet gun works good to slow the birds down as well
The blue jays are relentless.
Nice blueberry patch. I’ve never seen those big berry varieties. Wow, huge! All so healthy and productive. 💚
This is the biggest they've ever gotten!
Those look amazing. Yum! Wow can’t believe how big some of those are. Pretty awesome. Thanks for sharing.
My blue berry patch is new and looks identical to yours! Thank you for the wonderful idea along with keeping the birds safe❤
Great! I hope you get lots of fruit.
@@gapey Thank you, I have never grown them before! working on lowering soil ph ....Nervous but hopeful 😅
Tulle use that instead of bird netting way finer birds can't get stuck or even get their brakes in. You will have to replace every few years.
We've been using this netting for 5+ years and have never had a bird stuck in it and haven't had to replace it.
The birds were eating mine today so I’m hurrying to get the problem solved asap. I need to cover the blackberries soon too.
Oh no better hurry!
What’s the name of the netting
There’s a link to the netting in the video description.
any stuck birds in the new netting you installed....
Nope. none at all.
Hi, I really liked your channel. Tell me what happened with your AEROGARDEN, do not you use it anymore? Do you recommend distilled water?
I haven't used the Aerogarden in a while but would like to try growing a pepper in it. Just need to get one of my cuttings to root. :)
Thank you for the video. Have you had any birds caught in the netting yet?

It sure is! This new stuff we got is a dream to work with. Barely have to do any stretching.

Could you tell me what brand & size your bird netting is

Enjoyed your video. What brand is your netting and where are you located (zone?)?
Thanks. 7b and the link is in the description.

cat or a small terrier
Are they southern highbush variety?
Not sure I have any of those. I believe most are northern highbush varieties.
