@ChefNepal, Thanks so much for sharing the information. First of all, we really appreciate you initiating this first ever cooking reality show in Nepal; however, there are lots of areas for improvements. Please take your time and review these genuine public comments in these videos. I have tried to list down some key points from all the comments I have read below:
Please excuse my grammatical errors and incomplete sentences.
1. Background sound quality improvement (consistency - some parts the sound is really loud, some parts it is really silent in the background). This is the first and foremost thing that needs to be addressed to uplift the quality of show.
2. Sound quality of the judges and contestants - not loud enough and in many occasions, unnecessarily dominating background sound and we couldn't hear the judges and the contestants properly. There needs to be a balance of everything.
3. Judges need to give feedback to the dish right away. They need to be more engaging, ask questions to the contestants how they are planning to prepare the dish while they are preparing, giving hints/tips/tricks/hacks. They are not supposed to hang out outside or in a waiting hall waiting for the contestants to finish cooking. They need to be there with them and lead the show. We need more than "mitho chha" from them. Two of the judges didn't even speak a word after tasting. They did speak in one of the previous episodes, but not while they were tasting, but in the end after they start calling out names for elimination, and by the time we already forgot what they made and the dish is not even shown in the flashback. Having said that, I understand that the judges are not used be in front of camera - after all we all are humans. However, if they need to be trained a bit on how to run the show, so be it. I say this because in one of the previous episodes, I heard Chef Laxman saying, "hamile dherai upekshya gareko thiyem". It's not "upekshya", it was supposed to be "apekshya" - so simple mistakes and these should be retaken/edited properly and there should always be a proper choice of word.
4. Contestants seem to create good dish. The judges should appreciate the dish, their techniques, etc. Please refer to the comment made by below in this video. She has described this in more detail. Contestants need to be trained how to speak in front of the camera. Contestants seem to do their best. The production team needs to know how to present what they did.
5. Nepalese dish needs to be highlighted. We all are really disappointed with "American Pancake". I understand that chef need to have an ability to cook any cuisines, but being the first ever cooking show, priority must be given to show as many Nepalese authentic dishes as possible.
Well, I can go on and on. Please watch some "Masterchef" videos. Again, this is our Nepalese show and it needs to have that "Nepalese vibe" in it, so need not to be the exact replica of the Masterchef format, but at least it will provide you lots of ideas to improve our show. You can also review comments from the public and they have lot to add to what i listed above. Good luck and I hope we get better episodes in the upcoming days, but it’s a good initiation and we genuinely support this show. ❤️

As someone who was so excited for the entire culinary field in Nepal when this show was announced, I must say I am deeply disappointed. For me, the goal of the show is to groom amateur home cooks into chefs, and see who does it the best, but I do not see that happening at all. This is definitely a golden opportunity for many people in Nepal, a country where being a chef is still not considered an ideal career choice. I would like to offer some genuine recommendations in hopes that this show can live up to what it set to do in the first place:
i. The judges really need to offer constructive criticism. Just looking at the cook and the food and telling them 'mitho cha' or 'sweet kam cha' is not something you'd expect to hear in a cooking show. The food asked to be created in today's episode was pancakes. They demonstrated how to make one and all except some followed the same idea. The judges did not discuss the different flavors, what worked and what did not, and whether the idea was innovative or creative. And I'm confused with the fact that taking Nepali food to the next level was discussed repeatedly in the prior episodes, so what was the fixation with creating just fluffy American pancakes? Is the bar of the show this low? I saw some complex flavors like ginger and kiwi in one, and that was not even commented upon by the judges. The judges ask 'kasari banaunu bhayo' and they are given a rundown of what the chefs did but not the idea or inspiration behind it, the techniques they used. One person made lemon curd, and the judges did not even ask how that idea came to be. It takes time to make a lemon curd. The contestant did that in under half an hour. Also, the size and uniformity of the pancakes, the amalgamation of different flavors...wow, I can go on and on.
ii. Why are the judges not interacting with the contestants? They could help them elevate their dishes and LEARN...
iii. Please, give a name to the challenges. The format is very confusing to those who are not familiar with the MasterChef format.
iv. A lot of people have commented on the sound design and editing and yes, I agree. The production team added the contestants' narrative of what they did so I appreciate that in this episode.
v. Cooking safety and cleanliness concerns: no chef hats, no hair nets. A clean and hygienic environment must be promoted.
vi. Can we advise the contestants to name their dishes? They put their heart and soul into it.
When most of them explain what they are doing, they just explain the steps. There are a few who talk about the background of the dish and the inspiration behind it.
Hoping the upcoming episodes unravel the talents of the contestants and the show improves in its quality. :)
I feel like the show has been already pre recorded and the videos have been already edited. So our words probably wont reach them at least in this season.

It's good to see such shows being conducted in our country but at the same time we cannot ignore the fact about how much it has to be improved! I think making pancake cannot make a person chef! And judges should be giving more of the clear criticism and advise regarding the food that they are preparing ❤! No any hate , but contestants should also be knowing their weak factor as well as strength! And that's how actually chef should be😓💐

I'm glad to see so much constructive feedback from the viewers. The Chef Nepal team will develop a lot in the upcoming seasons. Best wishes to the participant cooks, the judges, and the management team (Mudra handling team). Let's add some spices, break some glasses/plates, and cry and yell at each other (Chef Anthony Bourdain said the cooks inside fine dining are vulgar and nasty). Focus on capturing the contestants' cooking process and food presentation for longer durations, with suitable background music, all in high-definition (HD) quality. This will greatly enhance the viewer experience and make the competition more engaging.
I believe implementing these suggestions will elevate the competition's standards and create a more professional and enjoyable experience for both contestants and viewers.

The production quality is ok. I would recommend putting a slight music in the bg. Also not happy with the judges. They could have given a lot of personal feedback which not only makes it interesting for us viewers but also for the home cooks as they will also know what to change and what not to change. Its a good show. Some suggestions: background music add garnu paryo. Bichma ekdamai quiet bhayo.
The background music at first was way too loud, couldn’t hear the judge’s voice properly. After 8 min, the BGM is okay but then suddenly whole audio is gone for sometime(while showing the first contestant’s pancake) 😢 please edit properly
Is this supposed to be a comedy show? I couldn't stop laughing due to the silence and awkwardness. The editing needs improvement; the fluctuations in mic volume disrupt the professionalism. When showcasing food, it's best to add background music. I highly recommend including contestants' thoughts after the judges finish with their food to capture their emotions and thoughts during the tasting.
The chef should provide more constructive criticism instead of just saying "mitho cha, thank you" after tasting other contestants' food. As a professional chef, their expertise should be evident throughout the show. Hope to see this show improve with their editing and the judges
For Production: Jhur vayo, bich bich ma audio xaina baki thau ma background music xa. Please learn from masterchef australia/canada/america. Sabai same hunuparxa vanne xaina but learn how they produce their show. Naya guest judge auda conestant haru le pakai rako bela they will enquire with each contestant k bandai xa kasari bandai xa.
And for judges:
Firstly, tyo chopstick wala judge lai eating etiquette sikauna jaruri xa. I know with chopstick it is easy to grab different food tara pancake pani chopstick le poke garera mukh bata cream nikaleko xa not very ideal.
Secondly, judges need to give contestants constructive feedback and pakairako bela inspect their work and give tiny hints. (For example constestant A le pancake batter banauda ekdam runny banairako xa vane judges can inspect their work and give small hints
Also inspire your conestants to be creative ans also showcake nepali cuisines. That is what we audiences are seeking.

Very good content with lots of different food items but little improvement is needed on video editing and presentation. This can be learned from the Master Chef video presentation.

The music choice editing so poor ; content is good but you will disconnect with that background music, editing, sounds, missing some story line also it’s jumping from nowhere to somewhere . Best of luck ❤🎉

editing could be so much better. There are parts that are missing in the episode and background music should also be added according to the scenario. The audio is cut off at so many points. Seamless flow of enjoying a show is lacking

It would be better if you remove background music when the judges or the participants are speaking. It’s too loud.
Is this a joke? Is this a master chef show or is this a joke? I am sure even the competitors feel the same way that we do?
You have brought in a guest judge chef to show live performances of making the pan cake, what kind of chef is he? He couldn’t create a perfect or close to circle? The second performance looked like an apple shape. Pan cakes are meant to be perfect circled? Okay forget the shape and size but lets talk about the way the pan cake looks which chef created, was the really the way pan cakes look? Aren’t they meant to be smooth golden brown? Not like Nepali pan cake (gilo roti). You call that American pan cake?
Talking about lack of comments. Are you judges really chefs? It’s getting doubtful because of lack of comments. It’s bad! Nepali foods or any food, are mainly about the creation of it, the flavours, the ingredients. Chefs are meant to be known very well about the ingredients that you taste. But these judges ask the contestants. What a shame? Why is there no comments about presentations? Doesn’t the judges know that eyes eat before your mouth? “Khana mitho cha, thank you” really? Just that much? A little kid can say that. Chef Santosh Shah has been a global competing chef, he is familiar with the ways that chefs should comment. But he doesn’t comment well too!
Talking about the ways of tasting food, the chef with chopstick is an EMBARRASSMENT in this show. He eats everything with chopstick. Being a Nepali, you use chopstick? Who eats pan cake with chops stick? If any other chefs are watching this globally, I’m sure they’re laughing at him. In the last episode or two, he was eating Roti/Naan with chops stick? If chef Gordon Ramsay was there, even he would’ve used his hand, or atleast knife and forks. Chopsticks for everything??? Fix this show. The kitchen should be enlarged, all the contestants should compete together, not in two split groups!! “Khana mitho cha thank you” my foot!
Being an international Nepali, I was looking up to this show, I was excited that there is finally an opportunist show in Nepal that every aged person can participate on. But yet a failure. I hope this will be resolved.
Judge be like: “mitho chha” ani khana ko lagi matrai judge gareko jasto dekhinchha 🤣🤣
