  • More recently identified with actress Marilyn Monroe’s performance in “Some Like It Hot,” this lover’s lament had been one of several tunes recorded and popularized by Bing Crosby during his breakout year of 1931. Busse’s version also sold a few copies at the time and was purportedly the most successful release from his bandleader years at Victor. The song title was initially shown as “I’m Thru With Love,” but over the years the “thru” spelling was commonly replaced by the standard “through.”
From 78rpm Victor 22677 - I’m Thru With Love (Kahn-Malneck-Livingston) by Henry Busse & his Orchestra, vocal by Richard Barry, recorded in NYC April 14, 1931 .

I'm thru with love, I'll never fall again,
Said "adieu to love, don't ever call again. "
For I must have you or no one,
And so I'm thru with love.
I've locked my heart, I'll keep my feelings there.
I have stocked my heart with icy frigid air.
And I mean to care for no one,
    Because I'm thru with love.
Why did you leave me to think you could care,
You didn't need me, for you had your share,
Of slaves around you to hound you and swear,
With deep emotion, devotion to you.
Goodbye to spring, and all it's meant to me,
It can never bring the thing that used to be,
For I must have you or no one,
And so I'm thru with love.

I first heard Alfalfa sing this 40+ years ago, then Marilyn Monroe in Some like it hot, but I needed to know the source of the song that still passes in my memory every now and then. Now I know. Thanks for posting

I first heard this song when Marilyn Monroe singing in Some Like It Hot. Someone has to tell me what that sound is at the very end of the song like a chime I think they used to use that on the radio before they had television I just love that sound
