  • In this episode, Jordan is joined by co-hosts Chris, a former member of Shincheonji (SCJ), and Steve, a cult expert, to uncover the origins and growth of some of South Korea’s most notorious religious movements.
Our special guest, Rev. Dr. Stephen Yang, begins a multiple part series where he provides an in-depth analysis of the true history behind these cults, including the World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCOG), Shincheonji (SCJ), Jesus Morning Star (JMS) and more. Discover how these groups have influenced each other over time and what has led to their controversial reputation in both South Korea and worldwide.
Don’t miss this eye-opening interview as we explore the hidden connections, doctrines, and dynamics that have shaped these groups. Learn about the psychological tactics used to recruit and retain members, the sociopolitical context that allowed these groups to thrive, and the personal stories of those who have escaped their grasp.

When my husband and I was in SCJ Bible study, invited by my friend, we did not know we were participating with this cult. When we discovered it, and I told my friend about it, I told her I cannot put my faith in some old Korean grandpa, claiming to be practically the new savior, being Korean American I told my friend I knew about the Korean folklore & the cults that came out of S Korea. I told her not to fall for their lies & it wasn’t true. But she stayed in the cult and cut all ties to me. I still pray for her and the ppl who are brainwashed in SCJ. Great video! Thank you for making this video! I will be sharing it!!

What a great break down of all the history of the cults, thank you so much for bringing this to UA-cam, I pray this reaches all those who are in these groups today. It definitely shows the evil spirit that’s at work. They all used the Bible for personal gain and power. I pray people will learn the truth and be healed ❤️

The Church of God's situation in Korea.
    1. many members are leaving the Church of God because they realize that it is a fraudulent organization.
    2. Pastor Kim Joo-cheol urges his congregation to go abroad to revitalize the stagnant Korean gospel.
    3. As attendance has declined, so has the church's income, making it difficult to purchase a building.
    4. In Hanam-si, Gyeonggi-do, construction of a church that was more than 60 percent complete was halted by a court order.
    5. The Pangyo parish where Jang Gil-jah attends has no members, so he brings members from other surrounding churches to Pangyo to fill the pews.

So important to understand work for salvation here 23:18
We work and commit to follow the Bible because we are saved. We don’t preach because if we don’t we won’t be saved. That’s a cult tactic to keep you working for the church.

Having left JMS I fund this information very helpful . I m not sure if I should cry or laugh hearing where the ridiculous doctrines for which I waisted more than a decade originated . I would like to add that the regular JMS members believed JMS never did sexual deeds . Apparently the sec doctrines are taught and accepted only to the core leaders and VIP members and most of us regular members thought people are lying to make our Lord suffer. I left only when I realised he is actually doing those things and that’s not just slander and lies. I felt disgusted and lost but as time passes by it gets better

Wow. This is amazing. This is crazy.I see so many similarities between WMSCOG and these cults. No wonder these cults sound so similar to each other. I always believe they held a convention somewhere. 😂 Now, I understand why korean people would avoid us like the plague.😂 It sad that these people advantage of vulnerable people. I hope this man from Korea and everyone at Great Light Studios can shut down these cults wherever they are from so no more people have to go through this. ❤Can't wait for part 2.

I always wonder if these cult leaders believe the nonsense they teach. MHL for example, does he really believe he saw all these things? That Jesus is with him? The leaders that did the "sexual religious practices", did she believe that these practices were for God, or was she just a sex addict? When you look at someone who has been in a cult, your thinking gets so messed up. And he's been there... so its just like, does he believe his doctrine, or at least some of it? Or are they all just taking innocent God fearing people for a ride?

The Bible says God hands them over to their deceptions, it's like a version. Of method acting.. They become the part etc deep down they know, but who knows..

Hello Sir, my mother is trapped in this cult and I want to free her but she didn't listen to me because they brainwashed my mom. They say there is a mother God without her we will not get salvation. They refer to so many verses to claim that there is a mother such as gal-4:26, Revelation-21:9. Please make a video on these verses so I can convince my mom that she is on the wrong path.

    • @crait
      @crait 10 днів тому

Ask your mom if the "mother god" can speak and understand all languages. God can do that, but the "mother god" cannot even speak English. She only can say like 2 words in broken English. She also requires visitors to wear nametags because she does not know their name.

On Sun Myung Moon: "In 1956, the year after his incarceration in Seoul's Seodaemun Prison, Father offered prayers at Gapsa Temple, a famous Buddhist temple on Mt. Gyeryong in South Chungcheong Province. While praying, he sensed that Japan would soon once again be in a very important position in Asia. Because the Soviet Union and China were supporting North Korea, Father knew that if Japan stood on the side of communism, Korea would be seriously endangered. Hence, he realized that he needed to send missionaries to Japan to begin to deal with this potential threat. By loving Japan, formerly the enemy of Korea, he would establish it as an object-partner nation on God's side. Herein lay the reason he sent missionaries to Japan, despite the difficult circumstances."

The similarities of how false teachers of the charismatic movement rose to fame is starkly similar like Kathryn Kuhlman, Wigglesworth, John G Lake and many others. While not reaching full blasphemy of claiming they themselves were Jesus, certainly claiming to be Elijah in many cases and baiting people with the same false promise of healing from an ungodly source.
