FUN FACT: some months ago billie revealed that she got inspired by olivia rodrigo to wrote Goldwing! she as person who was in the industry at a very young age gone through some tough things and I think that when she saw another young girl rising she felt the need to wrote about it
True because for the longest time she was the youngest artist then olivia came so she’s kinda letting Olivia know abt the industry and how wild it’s gonna be which I find very adorable ❤❤
it was a year before not a couple years. My future was made during quarantine and they released it July 30, 2020 still when we were all at home, exactly a year before the album's release july, 30th 2021, both on her brother's birthday.
44:45 so the context of 'overheated' is that when billie went outside one day when it was really hot, her body was more revealed and the paparazzi took pictures and the internet saw and started body shaming her about it, hence why in her new song skinny she says the lyric "but the old me is still me and maybe the real me and i think shes pretty" which kind of goes back to this where she got body shamed for her body that she said she was born with in this song
So for a lot of us that followed billie’s career since the very beginning saw a huge jump between this and her debut album, especially with it being called happier than ever. Billie has struggled with her depression her whole life and it got really bad again during the period of her writing when ‘we all fall asleep’, and it’s also seen in her single ‘everything I wanted’. And even without that her growing up in her most influential years as a teen where you discover more of who you are dealing with exploitation of the industry and abuse from relationships is going to really take its toll. Whilst of course this is not some “look guys I’m in the best place I’ve ever been in my life” album, which she would say in interviews I think before this album dropped, there is still that noticeable difference in the tone of her songs. She really does deserve to be happier than ever.
You were pretty spot on with your analysis of Overheated. There was a paparazzi picture taken of Billie in 2020 just walking around wearing a tank top (which was more of her body than she had ever shown at that point), and it got memed to hell on Twitter. People were so mean about it, it was insane.
Yes, right you are. Even CNN did a headline story about it but quickly took it down after Billie complained. Reminded me of how Diane Sawyer the respected journalist badgered Britney Spears about her teen sex life.
I remember so clearly hearing Happier Than Ever, the song, for the first time. THE EXPERIENCE! It can never be re-created, they really made a f*cking moment, it'll be forever one of, if not the best song of hers, and I stand by that
i really love your album reactions, specifically to billie. so many people miss the meanings behind her songs but you are really good at analyzing and finding the meanings, and you're often spot-on
Goldwing was made for oliva rodrigo to protect her from the industry she felt like she wanted to protect her. "I do feel a protectiveness over Olivia, I have a song called 'Goldwing' from my last album that’s kind of about her. I’ve never said that to anyone. It’s not only about her. I was just thinking about her when I was writing it. She was coming up, and she was younger than me, and nobody had ever been younger than me." from the los angeles times!!
Yea please, react to more of Billie! You’re so attentive and that is just so pleasant to see. There are several more things from Billie. Her debut album “When we all fall asleep where do we go”, her first EP “don’t smile at me”, her in between albums EP “guitar songs” that may have only two songs but they’re so good, as well as her non-album or EP singles that would fill up a whole album on their own and are some of her best and most know songs. I actually suggest listening to a compilation of her singles as if it’s an album, since you’re an album reactor. The songs obviously won’t have a through line but they’re individually so worth it.
You were literally SPOT ON with Overheated! She's talking about the first time she was photographed not wearing her baggy clothes (which she specifically wore as a minor so noone could talk about her body) and it blew up and was big news. I remember seeing the pics everywhere. She said it was a hot day and she only wanted to dress comfortably and didn't think anyone would see, hence the title Overheated. But I guess the world play is that she's also overheated as in angry
Happier than ever is a super unique song, to me one of the best ones ever. Someone in the song's comments said that she goes from singing like a butterfly to singing like a rockstar, and I really agree. It feels like someone turned the volume up like "click" and then it's just 🔥💥☄️😭🌊🤬🫨🌪️🌋🏚️🎇🎆💣🧨🔫✴️⭕️❗️🔊📢🎸🥁⛈️
A few notes that may be important: Oxytocin is about sexual abuse (it's from the perspective of the abuser); My future is about ending a toxic relationship.
In goldwing Billie is talking to Olivia Rodrigo cuz in that year 2021 was the year that Olivia popped off and Billie said in one of her interviews that she wants to protect her
I am so glad you continued this Billie Eilish journey! I hope you do her mini EP guitar songs (TV and 30th). They are really good songs, and really under appreciated. I also hope you continue with herfirst album, or maybe just tack those two songs onto that album reaction. I’m just excited to see you do more Billie
every time i hear the beginning of male fantasy my heart sinks to my ass so i’m looking forward to your thoughts on that song.. definitely in my top 10 billie songs
I fathomed recently how similar the guitar strumming is in Male Fantasy and Treacherous by Taylor Swift.. no wonder I love both songs ✨ I think I might get 'nothing lasts, I know the deal' as a tattoo soon, that song has helped me through some dark times 🥲
@@HaydenSmithElevate i’ve never noticed that!! treacherous is one of my favorites. i’ve been wanting a male fantasy tattoo forever but i’ve never known what lyric to get, such a good idea 💛
@@abbyo6578 Cute! My first idea was the Key to the Secret Garden (my cousin and I loved that movie as kids and we're getting matching keys) Then Taylor released I Hate It Here which references the book and so it was just a perfect way for me to get my first Taylor tattoo as well.. So next to the key I'll get 'I hate it here, but nothing lasts, I know the deal' ✨
I don’t have the source, but I remember hearing about the line in Overheated about “posing for pictures with that plastic body” NOT being a dig at people who choose to get plastic surgery, but it was a dig at the people who do it then DENY it, as it sets an unrealistic beauty standard for people (especially young adults). Basically, if you do it, fine, but stand on your (truthful) business.
Girl i just want to say that i adore your personality and the way you think about things to another level, its rare where i can sit for an hour and a half and watch someone listen to music but i love the way you act - please dont ever stop doing what youre doing. Much love
your power - you can check out a little more tea about it on the interview she did w Howard stern in 2021 she confirmed something(s) did happen to her and she didn't want to give details ofc but one thing she confirmed is that her brother (Finneas) made someone get fired for some inappropriate behaviours w her ( the kill your contract part) and let's not forget she was a minor when this album was released she was 19 but writing about what happened to her in previous years. Has for the song it self is generally about abuse and statutory rape and she did said she used some parts of some things she experiences and others from other abuse cases she knew about. If you can see a live performance of this song she used to singe it w/ Finneas just the two of them w an acoustic guitar and when she sings we can feel the emotional connection of the audience specially when she comes to "how dare you" everyone screamed that lyric, such a healing moment for many. I'm so thankful she did this song, it's so important and very few sing about it in this raw manner, it's so important!
here's a good example on her channel. If you have Apple Music there's a show from this tour there - Billie Eilish: Live at the O2 so you can check there too. ua-cam.com/video/si324ldGs20/v-deo.html
The part about inappropriate behavior sort of reminds me of Getting Older “I’ve had some trauma/did things I didn’t wanna/was to afraid to tell ya/ but now I think it’s time. Could that possibly be part of this??
Just watch The World's A Little Blurry and you will see who she's talking about His name is Q/Seven. He tried to become a rapper but I guess it didn't really work out for him, thank goodness. Billie was not even 16 when they started dating and he was a manipulative creep to her. Happier Than Ever (song) is also about him because the lyrics from the bridge are the exact context of a part from the documentary. He was driving under the influence in his car (Mercedes Benz) and she was VERY worried about him. So...she told us who it's about and why.
the way billie writes about falling in love is so beautiful. especially in halley's comet she almost views falling in love as a negative thing. she's losing sleep bc she's falling in love. when i hear the line "midnight for me is 3am for you" i think it's about staying up till 3 am every night bc of the person she's falling for and that has become her new midnight. she sounds like she doesn't want to believe she's falling in love but her dreams are more honest than she is. idk i might be wrong but this is what i think when i listen to the song. halley's comet has been one of my favorites from the happier than ever album since it came out so i wanted to share my opinion of what the song is about.
what's more insane about her lyrics is that she wrote them herself with her brother at that age, both of them produce billie's albums, it's not like other artist where half of the songs (or sometimes all of them) are written by someone else. She's so talented at such a young age.
I love how you lived under a rock, and since you're my fav reactor, you reawaken my love for songs I've heard before. Bout to go back into my Billie phase yall ❤
Wow. I am 1:12 into the video and I just love your personality. This is the first video of yours I've watched. Keep doing what you are doing!! Subscribed!
37:35 Halley’s Comet is such a special song for me. I relate to it so much. For me, it’s a song that encapsulates the feeling of being good by yourself, and then you fall so hard for someone that you can’t even understand yourself. For example, I got used to be alone. My friends and family are having their romances, either casuals or serious, but me, I’m like an island that nobody sets foot in. And I don’t catch feelings that easy, if ever. I know that I will only dedicate this song to the person that engages to me, and I want it to be played at my wedding, if it comes to that. And I also want to live until 2061 just to watch the comet with this song in the background. It doesn’t matter if I’m still single, or married, or whatever. It will be like a point to look back at my romantic life and do the maths (I will be 60 at that year). Right now, I’m falling for a guy like I never fell before. And I don’t want to want him cuz he’s kinda unsure of his own feelings, and he wants to go slow, but my heart wants to explode every time I see him. I wonder if he will be the one. He will be visiting my town next Tuesday, and he will be staying til Thursday, and I’m so nervous about it. We have seen each other like 4 weekends in a row, and we’ve been talking for almost a month now. But just being able to spend time with him, watching him smile, laugh and just be him is enough to make me the happiest of all
@ omg hi! Thank you for reading this 🥹 well, it turned out bad LMAO, he ended up asking me to be only friends. I can only guess that he has a lot of unresolved issues, but it was getting hurtful cuz he didn’t responded to my affection at all. But I take one thing from him, and it’s that he made me feel alive for the first time in many years. I can finally look tot he future with wonder and expectation, and not boredom like I used to. So that’s a plus! And also I didn’t dedicated this song to him, thank the lord lol
I just randomly stumbled upon ur channel but one thing i love about your reactions is that you listen to each song fully then leave then break down the song towards the end. Most reaction channels just pause every second & honestly that annoys me 😑. But you on the other hand, you just do it how i wanna see it yk so definitely earned a subscribe ❤
You are so emotionally intelligent and you literally have me “mhm-ing” every time you make an observation or share your take on a certain lyric. I love your reactions so much. keep up the good work.💕
When she says "I'll see you in a couple years"she's referring to herself in the future😊.Also Nda can directly tie in to The Diner because it's from the stalkers pov and Nda is hers. The lyrics"You couldn't save me but you can't let me go" - Nda AND "I tried to save you but i failed" - The Diner if you re-listen to both songs!
Love your Billie reactions! Just bear in mind when you're judging her for "dragging" someone on this album that she is telling us what happened when she was 16 years old, and the person she is dragging is an abusive p.o.s. who should be in prison. (Except in "Overheated", where she is dragging the entire internet lol). On that note, I've never seen anyone else say this, but I kinda think that "Oxytocin" is written from the perspective of her abuser. Thanks!
ahh so glad you posted this reaction!! fun fact, in her documentary “the worlds a little blurry” it shows her dating this guy (hes so irrelevant that i don’t remember his name 😭) and there’s this clip where he calls her saying how he drove home drunk (in his benz) and its just funny hearing it in the song. also her song “your power” is also implying that same relationship because she was 17 and he was 22 ☹️. anyway loves your reaction and i absolutely can’t wait for when you listen to “when we all fall asleep where do we go”!!
Always enjoy ur Billie reactions, big Billie fan here. She made videos for most all these songs. Yes, more Billie, her EP Don't Smile at Me and her breakout 1st LP When We All Fall Asleep.Tho, many of her best songs were not on her album releases; like No Time To Die (Oscar), What Was I Made For, (Grammy, Oscar) Everything I Wanted (Grammy) (my fav) Thanks.
Loved this reaction ! I think you can watch the documentary of her called " The world a little blurry" make more sense when you hear this absolute master piece ! But yea this album is very insane sadly didnt have recognition :(
U asked about what Billie had been threw. U could react to her documentary called, " the world's a little blurry" would be fun as a live reaction where we could all watch with u!!❤🎉❤🎉👏
From my knowledge Billie and Finneas consider Happier Than Ever to be a sort of sophomore slump where they liked the music but they were writing it more for the audience than themselves. But the album is great
I love all the Billie reactions and am always here for them. Because of what you said about liking when artists push their voice through i would be interested in seeing you react to one of Bishop Briggs' albums
GOLDWING was actually writen with the singer Olivia Rodrigo in mind, warning her of the dangers in the music industry and the struggles of being a young artist, with Billie gaining superstardom at only 17 the same age Olivia Rodrigo was when she wrote this song
Please react to When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? soon!! (You’ll recognize when the party’s over from Nicki minaj’s song “are you gone already”)
Everybody dies, NDA, and Bille Bossa Nova currently, and every time I do a full relisten, it changes. This is genuinely a great album but it's usually everyone's least fav of hers and idk why. I love all of them, I can't choose.
the lyrics of make fantasy are really good. i feel that they are really true to what billie has been saying for a while. her take on p0rn0graohy is truly refreshing. the song is also beautiful to listen to. I love that song haha
stoppp i remember the story behind overheated so cleary and it still breaks my heart after 4 years i felt so bad for her, people are genuinely gonna hate you and shame u no matter what u do and that story proves it
That lyric in ‘Everybody Dies’ that goes “And maybe in a couple hundred years they’ll find another way”, to me, is wondering if in the future we could prevent death. That verse kind of explores why anyone would want to live forever, while simultaneously expressing that fear of death. That’s my interpretation of this verse! :D
44:58 you prob already know this since this is from a month ago but yes, this happened before and im pretty sure people thought that was why she dressed baggy
Great reaction. Glad you got to discover this album. Most of the episodic content in the lyrics are things that she experienced or someone close to her has. Some are clearly composite characters. She had several trash talking neighborhood boys who were bad news. She got rid of them eventually. But her friends mostly left her as she gained popularity. One guy even exposed her phone number and address on the Internet. Those are life and death consequences for someone in her position.
I actually BEGGGG you to react to Chappel Roan, she is AMAZING. She is "your favourite artists favourite artist" Her debut album, and only album so far, is The rise and fall of the midwest princess. ITS EVERYTHING.
I want to like Chappel Roan but I just don't. 😔 every song I've heard so far I like maybe 30-50% of it but then something happens either musically or vocally that completely ruins it. Maybe I just haven't heard the right songs yet. Do you have recommendations?
Not My Responsibility monologue was the first thing to come off this album back in 2020, same year some photos of her showing her body for the first time was taken and upload on the Internet. As you noticed billie use to wear baggy clothes and at the time no one had seen her body and never had a opinion on it and called her "fat"
Omg you need to listen to the “when we all fall asleep, where do we go” from Billie Eilish! It was her first album and I think you’ll really have some fun with it❤️⭐️
Actually, the choir section of GOLDWING is taken from Gustav Holst's Hymn to Vena, so billie and finneas use the meaning behind this and use it to reference how she wants to protect olivia ❤
33:54 that sudden stop on Haley's Comet GIRLLLL i felt that LOLLLL this song has been my number 1 therapy song ever since it came out like excuse me billie???? how dare she sing that 😭😭😭
The song GOLDWING was written with Olivia Rodrigo in mind, kind of warning her of the dangers of the music industry, and what she had to go through gaining superstardom at 17

He will be visiting my town next Tuesday, and he will be staying til Thursday, and I’m so nervous about it. We have seen each other like 4 weekends in a row, and we’ve been talking for almost a month now. But just being able to spend time with him, watching him smile, laugh and just be him is enough to make me the happiest of all
Omg this comment 🥹
I want an update!!
Hit me hard and soft my hands down favorite still!!
but her first 2 albums will always be iconic
You are so emotionally intelligent and you literally have me “mhm-ing” every time you make an observation or share your take on a certain lyric. I love your reactions so much. keep up the good work.💕
i love your little insights so much, always so cool to see how others interpret songs
YESSSSS GIRL I LOVE UR REACTIONSSSS!!
MY FAVORITE ALBUM BY BILLIE!!! Her growth in this album is so underrated. I love HMHAS but this one has such a deep meaning to me
You should listen to her first album”when we all fall asleep where do we go?”
“Erm actually, it was DONT SMILE AT ME 🤓☝️” But on all seriousness, you should!
@@PomBomb133”erm actually, ‘don’t smile at me’ is an EP 👆🤓”
U had the best reaction to the song “happier than ever”
But yea this album is very insane sadly didnt have recognition :(
Such insightful reactions, thank you 💖
the way I CRIED during your power in her concert was brutal
U asked about what Billie had been threw. U could react to her documentary called, " the world's a little blurry" would be fun as a live reaction where we could all watch with u!!❤🎉❤🎉👏
the way she analyze the first song huhuhhhu, watching from the Philippines(love your videos)🫂✨
I love your vibe and the attention you give to the lyrics ❤ more Billie please
You interpreted goldwing so well!! I didnt even know what the song was about 💀
girl you’re are doing a big effort fact 1 hour that’s amazing
Queen said start your week with a new upload and I am EATING IT UP
Please react to When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? soon!! (You’ll recognize when the party’s over from Nicki minaj’s song “are you gone already”)
idk if somebody already said that but GOWLDWING is about olivia rodrigo, she felt like she should protect her or some like it.
Such a good reaction!!! 😭👏🏼 Love this album so much
She started writing happier than ever at the end of the doc you will hear them working on it!
my personal top 3’s currently (always changes💀):
1.NDA
2.overheated
3.male fantasy OR nmr
SO EXCITED TO WATCH THIS😭
Everybody dies, NDA, and Bille Bossa Nova currently, and every time I do a full relisten, it changes. This is genuinely a great album but it's usually everyone's least fav of hers and idk why. I love all of them, I can't choose.
@@urarakasupremecist5671 omg i absolutely love bbn too😭
But thats so real,so many people dont like as an example NDA - but im obsessed with it
the lyrics of make fantasy are really good. i feel that they are really true to what billie has been saying for a while. her take on p0rn0graohy is truly refreshing. the song is also beautiful to listen to. I love that song haha
my top three is prob
goldwing
overheated
my future
but then my top five would be
male fantasy
NDA
"What year is this? OKAY! I COULD MAKE IT!" LMAOOO THE WAY THAT MADE ME GIGGLE 😭😭
I lovee your vibe, only a few people can make reaction videos fun and you are one of them
stoppp i remember the story behind overheated so cleary and it still breaks my heart after 4 years i felt so bad for her, people are genuinely gonna hate you and shame u no matter what u do and that story proves it
the way i was about to turn my phone off to sleep and got the notification for the video😭😭 never clicked on youtube so fast in my life💀💀💀
Your reactions are THE BEST!!
billie came out years later saying she wrote goldwing about olivia rodrigo, as a warning to her about the industry
I was SEATED for this reaction 😭 love your energy!
My future is one of a handful of Billie god tier songs for me
I love your energy for real, new subscriber here! Keep reacting to Billie pleeease
you are my theraphy now
she’s my therapy as well 😭
please listen to her album ‘when we all fall asleep where do we go?'🙏ITS A NEED NOT A WANT X🤩
By far my favorite album by Billie❤❤
Listen the way I felt attacked when I first heard getting older, I feel you
I actually BEGGGG you to react to Chappel Roan, she is AMAZING.
Girl you take music and take it to another level really deeply thinking about the lyrics I love it
I'm always waiting for your videos :D
Este álbum mínimo se merecía un grammy 😢
33:54 that sudden stop on Haley's Comet GIRLLLL i felt that LOLLLL
this song has been my number 1 therapy song ever since it came out like excuse me billie???? how dare she sing that 😭😭😭
Such a fantastic album
Now I'm gonna wait for you to react WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP WHERE DO WE GO? and the EPs Don't Smile At Me ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Can someone do a compilation of different people saying "i didnt expect that" on i didnt change my number? Pleaseeed
Every song on Happier Than Ever is my fav.....even the first part of the title track itself...people use to skip it which make me sad 😔
AYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY HAPPIEER THAN EVER
PLEASE DO "WHERE DO WE GO WHEN WE ALL GO TO SLEEP"
I’m the most fan of billlie 8 just gotta when we all fall asleep where do we go shirt
The song GOLDWING was written with Olivia Rodrigo in mind, kind of warning her of the dangers of the music industry, and what she had to go through gaining superstardom at 17
neecee you should listen to "guitar songs" by billie, is a EP (I guess) and only have 2 songs, but it's really good. I think you would like it!!
you have to listen to when we all fall asleep where do we go😩😩
next WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO? & dont smile at me & Guitar Songs pleaseeee
Girl you need to watch the video for my future! She worked with Studio Gibli from Sprited Away!!! It made me cry
Last Cause is one of my favorites that was literally my marriage.y husband didn’t work for 8 years! Actually played this song for him.
Then the Greatest just explained me leaving!!! ❤❤❤. Best thing I did!
