  • It’s been an abnormally warm January this year. In this video I take the time to discuss some of the problems that warm weather can bring to the ranch. Also we are looking for a little bit of feedback from our viewers about a few questions we have.

    It's your channel do as you see fit. I like all content. Especially the welding and fabrication side of it.
    Great job cattle looking great.
    Yes it's not the greatest when it thaws and freezes.

    You do what YOU want with your videos. This is your channel. I did like seeing you working with your little boy. It's hard for me to comprehend the cold and snow that you and your livestock have to endure. I'm in Southern Middle Tennessee. Two weeks ago we had 8 inches of snow that hung around for 8 days. That was 8 days of sub freezing temps. It was rough. Our land is not flat like yours. We have hills and hollows and acres and acres of trees. Now it's been raining for days and is staying in the 50s and low 60s both day and night. That's Tennessee for you. I do find that your calf shelters are a wonderful idea. Do all ranchers in your area use them?

    • @LuthiRanchWY
      @LuthiRanchWY  3 місяці тому

      A lot of ranchers in our area seem to have calf shelters. Some of the bigger ranchers have buildings they calve in also. Thanks for the comment! Hopefully things aren’t getting too muddy for you guys over there!

    I enjoy your videos- I watch them to get an insight on the daily life of farmers so even if they seem repetitive, they are still entertaining. Please continue to do what you are doing.....if you are able to put out more content great........if not, we appreciate your efforts all the same.

    Things I would be interested in seeing, Video ideas. A look around your outbuildings and how you use them, some history of your family and how long your family has been in the area. maybe show us some of the equipment you use and how it works, It would be interesting to know more about the livestock how long you generally keep each animal before they go to market maybe more info on the feeds ect, why you choose a certain breed over another. I appreciate your videos and one a week is great.
    Thanks Dave in Utah

    As a rancher with kids and a full time job Bryan I'd say your one good quality video a week is solid. You're the hardest working guy on UA-cam so adding more to the plate I think would be to much. Just my 2 cents but you do you! Your videos are better and better each time and love all the details and mad respect for all you do while being a Dad and filming it all. ESPECIALLY while calving in a white out in Jan!!! Those of us that live in the cold know how motivated you gotta be to get up at all times of the night to tend to calves and filming it all is impressive. So keep up the good work and with time more followers will catch on and then get enough people watching maybe you can lighten the load with your other job and just ranch and film. I personally love building and fabricating so watching you make things around the ranch is awesome and lots of ideas are born watching a lot of these channels. Watching your son climb fences and hang out with Dad is and be a ranch kid is a kick too! Love the channel! Take care and good luck with calving!

      Thanks for the detailed comment! I appreciate all the compliments also haha. That’s the dream, to be able to just ranch full
      time and I’ve hoped UA-cam could help me get there! I know I will love looking back on these videos one day and seeing my young kids in them, it’s almost like a family journal. Once again thanks for the comment!

    Put out the content you want. I enjoy seeing you work calves and cow. I really enjoy all the scenery with all three snow. We don’t get that much snow here in SE Missouri so I enjoy the snow. I’d like to see you doing more fabrication in your shop. I’m an Ag teacher, we make cattle panels, hay bale feeders, etc in our HS Ag classes so I really enjoy watching others fabricate.
    I enjoy the content more than getting the perfect shot when filming. If you put out two a week, I know it still takes a lot of time, but I’ll watch even if the “quality” of filming is down.
    That being said it’s your channel and I’ll still watch whatever you do. 👍

      Thanks for all the feedback! I do have a couple of shop projects I’d like to get started on once it warms up a bit. I do look for your videos but i also realize how much time it takes to make a good one. I appreciate the way you include Ellis and the situations you find yourself in and the remedies for them. That thawing stuff can become a problem for sure, going through it once in March usually is headache enough never mind twice or three times a year. Winters back here certainly aren't near what they use to be so far as cold and snow goes. I never minded the cold at least it tightened everything up for a spell you knew mud season had to come sooner or later but you delt with it then as the old timers say it is what is deal with it. LoL Stay safe take care

    I like the videos you have been doing. Only thing I would suggest is more of the stuff like today's plowing and getting that truck and trailer ready or how you keep things going there on the ranch. Number wise I am like you quality over quantity. Perhaps work on a special one combining the backend jobs of keeping the ranch going and dump it in every month or so. But even there I would say keep your original video types to the quality they are as a priority. Either way just know we like what you are already doing we are just interested in knowing more of the efforts behind what you are showing us.

    Enjoying your videos watching here in Somerset UK. As a cattle breeder myself I am interested in the economics of your operation, how you sell your cattle and when. How you deal with predators.( we don’t have any cattle predators here) and what problems you have and how you deal with them. Please keep them coming.

    • @LuthiRanchWY
      @LuthiRanchWY  3 місяці тому +2

      Thanks for all the feedback! We are lucky so far we don’t have too many predators to worry about either. We do have alot of coyotes around but they seem to leave us alone for the most part. When we go up on the forest in the summer there are chances to have encounters with wolves and bears but they haven’t been much of a problem here on our range permits yet.

    Maybe you've already done this, but I think people would love to hear your story. Tell us why you get up day after day doing the same routine chores. Why do you do what you do instead of sitting in a cubicle? Why continue putting up with all the snow? Also what goals do you have for the farm? Would you ever branch out to other livestock? What do you make of the economy and the future of beef consumption for the next generation? It would be interesting to hear your take on all the hot topics that other ranchers and homesteaders are commenting on, or even a "reaction" style video of you watching more popular videos. Some of those guys are so phony and you are so authentic that it would be interesting to get your take on things.
    I think you probably put a lot of those answers into your other videos, but I think you would get some good feedback on a video about you and your family if you decided to share those things.
    Like so many others have said, do what you want and the virtual audience will show up. These are just ideas, if you like any of them try it out and we will all be along for the ride.

    I think you are doing great. I changed my UA-cam deal a couple of months ago. Used to be Chris Evans guns horses ranching. I have split it into 2 channels badlands ballistics for gun reviews and 10 cow ranch for ranching content. I have been trying to do 2 videos a week on both channels. I feel the same as you this time of year is pretty much the same stuff day to day. Keep up the good work Good luck with calving season

      The problem is coming up with something interesting on the ranch side. Yes we feed cows everyday and other small things not really worthy of a video. I might still try 2 videos a week on the guns channel. I have lots of gun projects. It is more time consuming than a guy realizes . @@LuthiRanchWY

    It is your channel and I watch because it’s your day to day activities, not mine. I grew up on a ranch but your geography and weather is so different from ours, I like to see the variation across the USA.
    I don’t like the background music unless it’s a channel with a drone but again, your channel!
    Watching son plow/shovel snow was nice! I’m going to enjoy him a whole lot more in 2-3 years when he’s in the middle of everything. My helper is now 22 and I miss the days of him helping me!
    Will the slough clearing this early help minimize spring flooding?

      Hey Wayne! Thanks for all the feedback, I do appreciate it! If it stays warm like it has and we have a gradual warm up this spring we shouldn’t have to worry too much about flooding. What gets us is when it goes from 30 degrees to 60 degrees in a week haha

    Been enjoying your content. Your work is very hard and you are still able to give us good camera angles and excellent editing. It’s an extra effort, that’s for sure. For me, I got pulled into your channel because I am an amateur metal fabricator. I get into the mechanical aspects of your operation. I am also fascinated by the science and art of cattle ranching. What is your support structure like? How and where do you source your feed, hardware, parts, and other resources to run the ranch? Your family history would be an interesting topic as well. Keep up the great work and hope you are able to prosper and grow.
