  • Kinetic doors have always peaked my interest, the concept was created by Austrian artist Klemens Torggler. In this video I make a liquor cabinet out of Purple heart, and Walnut with brass accents. Drop a sub and let me know what you think of the final product in the comments. Thanks for watching, appreciate yuh!

      Still doesn't have an uninterrupted full shot of the door opening. I get the aesthetic you are going for here, and this is an amazing project, but the cuts are just too jumpy and close up for me to get a full appreciation of the work you are doing here. My personal preferences notwithstanding - fantastic craftsmanship.

    It's so neat catching such a quality channel so early in its life! These builds are so unique and have already changed the way I look at projects. You and Pedulla Studios are quickly becoming some of my favorite woodworking content on UA-cam! If you are able to consistently pump out videos of this caliber, you stand a pretty good chance to make a decent chunk of change from here! Keep up the great work!

    Both this and the Tambour build were great. One suggestion, that would help me get more value out the vids - focus more video time / explanation of the "mechanisms" (hinge angles, measurements, what makes it work...same w the tambour...sizing of the groove, how many slats, etc), and less on the banal milling, gluing, clamping, sanding tasks. Thanks for the high quality vids.

    • @Yarmles
      @Yarmles  5 місяців тому +8

      Thanks for the feedback, I will keep that in mind 🙏🏼 I do also agree with the milling glueing part being banal, it was just so much of the process on both of these builds. I started making videos 3 weeks ago so I am new and still learning haha. Appreciate yuh!

      Very cool build. Any plans or can you say where you got them? Also, with exotic woods acetone them before glue ups. It helps remove oils and will yield better results.

      @@patriotwoodworker6092 Appreciate it, and thanks for the tip. Theres quite a few videos of people making them on here that I watched years ago and then went to the shop and figured it out from memory. I haven’t made drawings of these ever unfortunately. The jist of it is the doors have to be the same size and both be squares. As long as you follow that you should be good to go. I am however going to make a condensed version of this video soon with alot of details on sizing and such.

    After I've seen the Tambour build this will definitely be the next project waiting in line. Absolut amazing! One question regarding the door. Is it absolutely necessary having the second magnet at the outside of the cabinet? Or only having magnets inside are not strong enough to hold the entire door in place?

    • @Yarmles
      @Yarmles  5 місяців тому +1

      Thanks a bunch, I appreciate the kind words! As far as the magnets go I used to use 6 but that was overpowered, I went down to 2 at one point and that wasn’t enough, 4 is just right considering there is a bit of leverage involved once the door is mounted and vertical.

      This is not a “how to” channel nor was this a guide on making kinetic doors. This is exactly how I intended the video to come out, a satisfying build to relaxing music. I do plan on making a condensed version with foot notes at some point for those who wanted some details.

      @@bestshittyphotographer lol, you’re funny. So hostile and immature of you! Anyways, opinions vary… I’ve been a woodworker/furniture maker for over 30 years. I would have no problem recreating that cabinet, but not everyone is so experienced. I think it would be a more beneficial video, (for even relatively new woodworkers), if a better explanation/dimensions, etc. was provided. I was very kind with my criticism; you unfortunately don’t possess the same ability or tact. Explains why you call yourself the bestSHITTYphotographer. Have a good day sir. 🫡

      @@Yarmles And I respect that, I am just not a fan of silent videos… that’s just me, (and I’m entitled to my opinion). I didn’t leave a comment to offend you. Like I said, I think you showed great workmanship, and I think your cabinet is very cool. People are just so sensitive these days. You hear the criticism, but ignore the compliment. If I ever watch and comment on another of your videos, I’ll be sure to walk on ice. Enjoy your day.
