Learn How to Play Pimpf by Depeche Mode - A Piano Tutorial
Вставка
- Опубліковано 19 лип 2018
- Here's another tune that will take you way back to your high school days. I don't even remember when or how I figured this song out but I've been playing it the same way for as long as I can remember and I never get tired of just sitting down and busting it out on whatever piano I find. It's not a particularity great Depeche Mode song overall, but it's at least interesting to play on the piano and takes a fair amount to practice to get to where you can play it correctly without messing up at least one note here or there.
I basically show you how to play the left and right hands for this song, but don't really go through the structure of the song just for time's sake. I figured once you know the notes, you can arrange the left and right hand appropriately to play the song all the way through just as it's played. I'm not going to show you all the little nuances either and I'm certainly not going to sing any part of the vocals for this one.
This is my first song tutorial that isn't made up of chords so I realized I don't have a good way to show how to play individual notes without playing the song really slowly. Hopefully just showing the notes is enough and you can figure out the order of the notes just by listening. Let me know if this was an easy/medium/hard tutorial in the comments below and what you would like to see done better.
As always, thanks for tuning in and leave me a like or comment below!

Simple and beautiful. Martin Gore is another genius nobody talks about
Wouldn't be surprised if Wilder had written this one. We'll never know...
@@BlackRain_ wilder?
Piano played Alan, as usual between 1987-1990
Gore great Songwriter, Wilder created the Sound of DM until 1994…
he is the real Master of Sound… Not Gore
@@BlackRain_ Much as I'm "Alan Wilder fan club", I think if he had written Pimpf it should say so in the album credits, but it says "M. L. Gore".
@@Markus73Sweden Doesn't sound to me like something M.L. Gore would write. Also, you don't know the nature of the contract that Alan signed up to.
One of the most epic tracks by DM
I really like the way this piano sounds and I love Depeche Mode. play a whole song without stopping .
Love it. Thank you. Btw, I learned it on guitar. It's different, I'll tell you that lol. It does make a good finger/warm up exercise. One of the creepiest songs I've ever heard...between this and Tubular Bells.
Great performance and great tutorial for an Awsome song!
Thank you very much Mr Dan!!!
I love your tutorials. I've recently started playing, and you have helped me in many ways. Thank you!
You're welcome, glad you've enjoyed them!
Thank You soooo much for this tutorial. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
You're welcome!
This song has potential in epic proportions. I think you should expound on it.
Sweet tutorial. I learned to play this back in the 80’s by watching a friend play it. Great entertainer at Halloween parties...playing pimpf wasn’t quite the chick magnet that “Somebody” was (too bad I never learned to play that song... maybe you can show me how ;)
So I'm pretty sure you showed me how to play this song. I don't ever remember learning how to play it, it was so long ago. We totally should have learned Somebody instead, what was wrong with us?
Outstanding! If you can play more riffs of Depeche mode would be great 👍! Like Flexible, Just can't get enough....etc. thankuuuuuuuuu!
Cold Beer!!!!
And laughing while preparing to get in and smash the rose bowl
Great! I have only one question about fingering. Why does the little finger of the left hand not play, it is kept in reserve for additional notes? ) In the second sentence, it is probably more convenient to start with the left hand with the little finger?)
The left hand is playing octaves. So thumb and pinkie play the same notes.
@@DanMarx I mean rigt hand , sorry) Anyway thanks so much for your job, it turns out very effectively and the applicatura is convenient
What key and mode is this song in? Is there any modulation or borrowed chords?
I think the key is F# but there are about 8 key changes lmao
@@rinaldobiassoni6086 Exactly! I have no idea what the key is either. It doesn't appear to follow any rules as far as I can tell. Part of what makes it sound so mysterious.
Is anyone else getting a slight vibe of 'Ruled By Secrey' from Muse? 😅
Martin wrote and demoed it hence played it.
Your right hand keys don't line up at all. You are playing D A# A F# G C#, But you put F# G A Bb C# D????
Yeah it's a little confusing but the notes are written above the note that is played and not in the order in which they are played. So you play the notes in the order as you described. But I wrote the note over the note above the key that is played. Then you watch the fingering for the order. It's just the limitation of my video editing software to be able to do text in a better way. Thanks for the comment though!
Would have been much better if you showed the notes played in order...lol.
No doubt about that! I wanted to show them in order but couldn't make it work right. The notes are the notes, play them in the order you hear them is all I can say.
Too much reverb 😊
A masterpiece from Alan Wilder.
