the 13 blocks represent the movies made by miyazaki and him fynding a succsesor because his growing old and when he dies the world dies and this is the refference that ghibli will die when miyazaki does
I bet Mahito is supposed to represent Goro and the parakeets are supposed to represent the former studio ghibli employees who left and made their own studio
Finally able to watch your reactions again. Me and boyfie we watch almost all of Studio Ghibli's. It's good to be watching y'all again! It's been a while! I love you guys.
My take was that this is a movie about generations passing the torch, especially when it comes to art--basically it's Miyazaki's therapy session slash reflection on his career. The world they go to is a metaphor for all of his artistic works (there's many different allusions to past Miyazaki films throughout the portion of the movie where they're exploring that world), and it's about wanting to keep that world alive but realizing it has to end and future generations (ie Miyazaki's son) aren't going to have the same values or build the blocks the same way. Of course you can extend this interpretation beyond just art and look at life as a whole which is where the malice comes in, ie the granduncle tries to offer Mahito a way to not be burdened by the mistakes of the past with the non-malice blocks but Mahito points out that he still has that same malice in him no matter what.
You guys should do detective Conan anime series/movies please, along with Pokemon series/movies and with digimon series/movies and wolf’s rain and ancient magus bride series/specials please pleas?!
@@brosnshows This is Hayao Miyazaki not giving a damn about what anyone says, and at this point in his career, no one can. This is totally unhinged, and he makes no attempt to neatly explain what everything means. This is his vision and no one else's.
The music in this movie fed my soul

Thank you for the review. I love this movie. It’s so much like a fever dream and less depressing than graveyard of fireflies.
I loved it too (Hunter) this one just felt so cozy and enjoyable

The best soundtrack of ghibli’s movies (in my personal opinion)

True that, but doesn’t mean it doesn’t leave us wanting more info! It just means we love the story so much we’re sad it didn’t get more flushing out!
