My parents had one. It was a 30ft. Called Aquanimitous. They kept in Baltimore. It was a great boat. Never left us stranded. Good little engine. Good little boat. Will always have a spot in my heart.
Hi there!! Just came across a Bayfield 29 here on the Cape(Cape Cod) and am excited out sprucing her up and getting on the ocean. I first sailed on Lake Erie, being from Toledo. So Blue water sailing will be new for me.
Glad to see this episode on a topic close to home. We sail our C&C Landfall 38 out of Bayfield, ON. Small note, the picture of Bayfield, ON @1:06 is actually not a photo of Bayfield ON. Great episode hope to see you out sailing soon.
Great channel (I've been following you for some years). Love this episode and may be qualified to comment. My wife and I just sold a CS 34; a boat that probably falls into the 'modern' category that you allude to. Sailing Lake Ontario in swells was not pleasant. Trading a comfortable passage for less space below will be a priority for our next boat. Anyone who wants speed should probably drive. Always look forward to your episodes.
Avid Bayfielders! We sail Agápe, our 1988 Bayfield 32C. Great video, I think you summed it up well and all your facts are correct. ✌️❤️⛵️ Nikki & Bobby
Hello, I'm not sure why this was so delayed on my feed, but just ran across it a year late. I sailed a B29 for many years. Kept it near Bayfield, Wisconsin (USA). The arial photo you used looks quite familiar. I'm about 99% sure that your fly-by is my old cruisijng grounds on Lake Superior's south shore. The B29 was always good to me, I would recommend if it is the right fit for someone.
I learned how to sail aboard a friend's Bayfield 36 called Wind-Bourne III here in Newfoundland. Pretty sure it was among the displayed pictures during the video, but with the subsequent owners. Since then I have had the opportunity to crew aboard a 32C, one of the last B25s built, and one of the first B23/25s built. Still need to get out on a B29 and a B40 to complete the set. The Lewisporte Marina has seen many Bayfields over the years.
Hello, how do you recall the sailing pointing ability and tracking? and the 'traveller' it has, I imagine bc of the double block it centers the main just as well as a traveller. ty
You didn't even mention the Bayfield 40! which was the flagship until the 36 was developed, or the 32c which was their "racer"!! But I agree the 36 has the best layout for liveaboard crusing! but then again my neighbour has a 40 that has been all over the atlantic ( both sides!)
Beautiful boats no doubt! Almost bought a 30' here in FL (too much to get it up to snuff though). Overall you can't be the price! Audio was very good, but there was a bit of echo in the room, hopefully fixed with your new studio setup.
Great videos! Have seen many a Bayfield out in Georgian Bay! We are going to head south next summer to the Bahamas and wondered what you did for insurance as we would like to be in Annapolis for the fall boat show if it’s running next year? We were going to leave this August but with covid border closures we decided to leave next summer. Thinking we will head down the Trent to Lake Ontario then to Oswego canal to the Hudson with mast down on the deck. Any advice or suggestions on routes? Are you going to head back south anytime soon?
Out of the blue my Dad bought a 25 when I was 14. Apparently he had always wanted a boat. I loved learning to sail and navigate in the North Channel of Georgian Bay. I learned that getting there is half the fun, not like in a motor boat. As my first experience I found it roomy, easy to sail alone with a roller furler and the shoal keel let us go anywhere. I know it was slow but really it wasn't that bad....was it? The teak wasn't a big pain either, gave us something to do and I thought dad's boat was better looking than the others. Kinda like a pirate ship.
Hi Tim, I believe everyone will prefer a vessel hopefully based on what they’re going to do with it, cross an ocean, island hopping, etc. I’m more of a traditional because of the beauty and the romantics that go with. You mention you prefer to go more modern, obviously because of what you do, but could you elaborate on this, of why you prefer modern vs traditional? Thanks, its always a pleasure to see your videos, you always talk about what people should know.
Great Video, Bayfields are beautiful that's for sure , but that dam bowsprite will get pricey if your a slip dweller. Can I ask for a break down on ISLANDER. The Freeport 36 plain B is a beast of a cruiser. Thanks for you Videos I enjoy all of them.
Consider an episode on George Robertson, a farmer near Goderich who back in the late 70's opened a well-stocked chandlery on his farm! George was addicted to sailing and owned an IOR design Paceship around 30 feet. George had stool in his store. He was the same height sitting or standing. Generations later he sailed into my marina in Wiarton on a Nonsuch. George was a pioneer.
Hello. Can you or some one familiar go over the sailing performance? I had read somewhere it points 60deg.. seems aweful but not sure if true. That concerns me a bit. I have also read that because of the full keel, reverse is not recommened . TY
Since me and mine are wanting to get into cruising/blue water sailing, these sound pretty close to perfect! I prefer the full keel designs, because speed is not as important as safety and comfort. Thanks for your advice.
That's a sweet looking bout I never knew the name. I love the new bouts with the drop down transom swimming deck and power wanches but I'm so poor homeless people give me money;) What do you think about Columbia 29 for the Caribbean

Never heard of Bayfield here in the UK. Love the traditional look. It's called character.
Sound was perfect.
Greetings / Bayfield - a great Canadian boat. We had a 25ft and a friend had a 32C. So stable. We hail from Port Credit & the PCYC era.
Never of Bayfield until today.
I saw a Gozzard here in Florida.
It is a very nice cruising boat.
Knowing Bayfield story was great.
I hear you clear, all the way from Cape Town South Africa. Excellent content too and well presented.

Thanks Tim. Always loved the Bayfields. Never sailed one yet. I helped refit one, lol.

sound great. Excited for the upcoming new "studio" :)

Love my B25 on Toronto Island.
Much improved audio. You were always easy to understand, but now you are clearer. Looking forward to your new look.

Audio = A+
I think the audio and lighting is fine. You sound good, I can hear you well and that shirt is easy enough to see.
Sounds good brother.
Thanks for the review! Didn't know about the Bayfield.

The 36 and 40 have the same waterlength are😊share the same hull!
Waiting for your Viking 34 review. The best, economical, fast boat I ever owned ( and I have owned a few )>
It’s nice to learn about some Canadian boats. I’ve met a Gozzard. Sturdy boats.
Bayfield rocks! New mic sounds great, need a touch more gain when the Gremlin talks. Be happy, be safe.
It's a beautiful looking boat. I imagine the bright work would be a lot more work to maintain.
Looking forward to your new setup
Great vid . Keep em coming mate .
Sadler ☺️

SS34 When you need to go to windward in a hurry and you got good sails in rough weather save the diesel hard to beat 25 _30 degrees into wind
Love the videos.
Reminds me of a Cabo Rico with a beefier stem and internal chainplates.
It's a marked improvement of the sound.
Thank you!
Audio sounds great
Met John kretschmer yesterday he took me on his Koffman 47 proply the most beautiful Boat I've ever seen its perfect
Always enjoy these....thank you! Is Tartan moving up the list for a review?

Your getting closer to Exe fibercraft Ltd, I can feel it :-)

You missed I thing about a bayfield that was factory that I saw on a 36...a bathtub

Dealer, Jake Rogerson :) The old days. we had a couple of 36's in Wiarton with hard dodgers. Slow but solid.
Consider an episode on George Robertson, a farmer near Goderich who back in the late 70's opened a well-stocked chandlery on his farm! George was addicted to sailing and owned an IOR design Paceship around 30 feet. George had stool in his store. He was the same height sitting or standing. Do you think the Bayfield 36 would be good for a crossing? Thanks

I love the layout of the the 36. I looked at a 25 but it was just too small for me being 6'1"
What do you think about a paceship 23.
Tim you got the wrong picture of the town of Bayfield Ontario.
Right? Been sailing out of there for near 20 years and I wondered where the heck that pic came from ;)
What do you think of the Rhodes 38
Did the Gozzard 36 splashed from the Bayfield 36 hull mold?
Since me and mine are wanting to get into cruising/blue water sailing, these sound pretty close to perfect! I prefer the full keel designs, because speed is not as important as safety and comfort. Thanks for your advice.
Audio.much better
