Dude... welcome to 80s monster ballads, glad to have ya, hard rock hair bands that did ballad yet badassed songs. This song by Poison was near the top with Motly Crew's song Home sweet home. Aerosmith did Janie's got a gun. A trippy song with a trippy video... Last dance with mary jane by tom petty, a must see... in the 80s there were lots of rockers with lots of pain in their songs. Let me know if you want more of a list... I like your perspectives on the videos I havent heard before. I'm lovin that you are getting to the 70s and 80s, keep on rocken...

I've been a Poison fan since they came out. I remember this song from when I was in grade school! Hell, I got sent home from school for wearing my Open Up And Say Ahhh...concert t-shirt. Yeah, I'm officially old. LOL! Since you asked I'll toss ya the names of everyone in the band. The lead singer is Brett Michaels, Lead Guitar is C. C. DeVille, Drummer is Ricky Rocket and on Bass Guitar is Bobby Doll. Obviously stage names, but that's what they went buy. Poison was definately one of those Sunset Strip hair metal bands, but I think they always put down good music that was better than most. I definately suggest checking out some more from them bro. Here's more suggestions:
    Nothin' But A Good Time
Look What The Cat Dragged In
    Talk Dirty To Me
    Unskinny Bop
(And my personal favorite ballad they ever did) Something To Believe In

    • @trublgrl
      @trublgrl 2 роки тому +1

I never really considered myself a fan, but damn, they had a lot of hits. You mentioned Unskinny Bop, and I wanted to say a song I currently love is Samm Henshaw's "Thoughts and Prayers," and if you listen to the end, it closes out with a sort of improvisational horn break, and you hear the hook from Unskinny Bop, as clear as day.

My aunt and I bonded over this song. I have always loved it since I was a kid. As a teen in the ninties, driving with her in her truck, this came on the radio and we both started singing every word. She was shocked that I knew it because it was more her speed than mine. But it just spoke to me. Separated by a generation, but bonded over this song.

oh yes. music back in the day. if you wanted to hear these songs, you had to buy the album, or wait for it to come on Much Music, or wait for it to come on the radio. not like today where you can listen to what you want and when you want. no social media for sure. we would try to record them when they came on the radio by cassette tape or we would try to record the video on Much Music to listen to it whenever we wanted to but we had to rewind or fast forward to get to the song we wanted to hear. man, times have changed! lol

I love this song. What did the black cop in the skit say, when asked why he knows the song? I couldn't understand it.
Bret Michaels, the vocalist of Poison, has diabetes since he was a kid. He said in an interview, that he had some problems managing his diabetes on tour and some pretty bad breakdowns because of it. The press and rumors made it out as it was drug or alcohol related. Not sure if there wasn't some partying involved, too. But the main problem was diabetes.
    Greetings from Germany

@@TooBlunt ah, thanks! I thought I heard suburbs, but wasn't sure about the rest. My English isn't that bad, but when there are a lot of background noises (laughter and music in this case) it gets harder to understand for me.

As Poison was starting to get more famous it put a strain on his relationship, with his girlfriend, family and friends back at home. Story says that he wrote this in 10 minutes at the laundrymat. No matter how good your life gets in one way, it ends or hurts another part of your life. You would think they had it all when they got to LA, but in order to make it, they had to leave penn. behind. Check out:
Nothin' but a good time One of their biggest hits, and more in their rock genre
Fallen Angel - Song about someone going to the big city trying to be famous
Something to believe in - Another Ballad, Song about looking around at all that is messed up in the world and looking for, well....
I wont forget you - love lost.... but with a little rock touch.
Man there are 20+ songs that are terrific.

Everybody should learn about race from Dave Chappelle. We'd all take ourselves a lot less seriously in the ways that don't matter, we'd all learn to laugh at ourselves and we'd all learn that every race is a target for Dave Chappelle. And making jokes doesn't make you racist! Dave's a black dude who grew up around white dudes with lots of white friends and married a Filipino chick- not racist. Making jokes makes means you have a sense of humor. If you have all 5 senses but lack a sense of humor you got a blind spot. Dave's hilarious and I love that sketch and that you heard that song for the first time there. 🤣

The point TooBlunt makes at the end is actually universal and ancient. It's really not that times have changed, artists have always kept their feelings close tot he chest, and when they release them to the public, they may create magic, or fall on their face. It was actually a trope throughout Heavy Metal, for the majority of the songs to be aggressive, simple, and catchy, but to have one ballad on an album which showed the softer side. Even AC/DC had "Ride On." "Every Rose has it's Thorn" was the humble, human ballad that came from one of most aggressively pop Metal bands the world had ever seen. We all kind of expected light-hearted, radio-friendly, guitar music from Poison, and when they gave us this intense, beautiful, and wonderfully composed and recorded ballad, it knocked this country out. The song stayed on the radio for ages, it was SO popular. Some people, myself included, got sick of it, but listening again? It really is a phenomenal song, recording, and video. Thanks for putting it back on my radar.

So I distinctly looked up the song, just like any other old head looking up Jordan highlights or your favorite movie reaction. Like, the experience you get from listening to a song drop from the radio is different when it's a clip from a movie or a TV show, or even commercials. For example, I went to see the new Doctor Strange last night.. and the trailers ..They always got some way to drop in a nostalgic song to get the Gen Xers/ Millenials/ Gen Zers hyped up some type of way.
I found your channel on a whim, keep positive! Stay being creative!
As an old head, I would recommend Tracy Chapman, Fast Car.. One of my favorites.

White men have to be drunk on beer and have absolutely no rythim. Ugh!!!
    Women...aww, they're so shy..wtf.
they can judge all they want, but they always enjoy the show.
I took up belly dance since very few people want to dance. So, for years, I've gotten up to belly dance all by my lonesome.. ....anywhere.
So, so love 💕 to move to music. Even in my head. It's the only dance form that can be danced to anything...and no left footed drunk to count on.
