The Freightliner in this video is only one of two that Daimler/Freightliner has put out. The second is fully electric E-Cascadia (the smaller box truck is the E-M2). The diesel version is 550HP. The electric is 750HP+ and torquey as hell... good luck cutting them off in traffic. Currently they only have an effective range of about 300mi. About 200 units already on the road in southern California owned by Penske Truck Solutions. Almost forgot to mention that they have an electric motor on the gearbox to over-ride driver input if the turn signal isn't on and to maintain centered lane position at all times. Did I mention these are already hit the road in April?

You have triggered my conspiracy bell! Can you give me a timeline compared to the announcement of the election infection! I can't imagine a better way to test autonomous semi's than during a pandemic with empty road's and highway's? Thank you ...from Wyoming USA 🔫🤠🇺🇸p.s stay safe and healthy everybody GOD BLESS OUR COUNTRY AND stop this foolishness before it's too late..

A lot of them looks neat, the best one's at this stage of development need a person. In mining that is a different story as there are already gps based trucks and human operators don't need to be there. Of course if the trucks fall over the edge maybe there should be someone to fix the problem, like an onboard operator.

The First two buses are almost identical apart from the first one was 3D Printed and also are they buses or cars, which are non-commercial vehicles. Admittedly cars are also used to describe individual vehicles in railway multiple units.

There is one thing these autonomous trucks could do is to avoid low bridges. They could plan their route better to avoid these.

A quick FYI - Semi's are trucks which pull trailers or containers. Vera would be considered a tractor as in tractor trailer. BTW - Cybertruck is inspired by Blade Runner & The Spy Who Loved Me.

Then Volvo needs to design a rig that resembles a TAMPAX.
At least it will be streamlined.
All these concepts are esthetically ugly. Many are designed to carry payloads that will soon become obsolete, or even outlawed by environmental crusades.
For all the futuristic look and hype, every single concept will rely on the mere ancient wheel.

It's ugly as hell, lol..It will never make diesels obsolete, especially not until it proves that it can do 1,000,000 miles with nothing but maintenance and a few repairs that aren't super costly. I'm all in favor of cleaner alternatives, but our technology just isn't there right. Trying to force that change before our tech is there will have some terribly consequences. It will happen one day, but not anytime soon with our current technology, especially when it comes to battery technology.

Male/Female friendly trucks refer to the need to take a bathroom break! This can be much more of a concern as the age rises but also for long treks. The inside compartment could be stylized to fit a woman rather than a man. Ladies are taking more and more of a concern but the respect factor is yet to be realized by most.
