Marty and The Superlatives open with 'Don't Leave Her Lonely' - Mel Tillis sings 'The Sawmill' - Connie Smith sings 'I've Got My Baby On My Mind' - Mel and Marty sing Mel's composition: 'Detroit City' - Leroy Troy sings 'Drunkard's Grave' - Marty and Connie team up for this week's inspirational number: 'He Turned The Water Into Wine' - Mel closes with 'Heart Over Mind'.
Lonnie Melvin Tillis (August 8, 1932 - November 19, 2017) was an American country music singer and songwriter. Although he recorded songs since the late 1950s, his biggest success occurred in the 1970s, with a long list of Top 10 hits.
Tillis' biggest hits include "I Ain't Never", "Good Woman Blues", and "Coca-Cola Cowboy". On February 13, 2012, President Barack Obama awarded Tillis the National Medal of Arts for his contributions to country music. He also won the Country Music Association Awards' most coveted award, Entertainer of the Year. Additionally, he was known for his stutter, which did not affect his singing voice. His daughter is 1990s country hitmaker Pam Tillis.

I was looking for Sawmill live and here it is. In Feb of 73 my older brother was in a bad car wreck. He was in the Navy and not long home when it happened. He made it thru Vietnam on the river patrol boats. They call it the Brown Water Navy I think now. He made it home safe to be almost killed on the road from Charleston SC to come home to Savannah for the weekend. Sawmill was on the radio all the time so it's kind of stuck in my memory of those days. The wreck is a bad memory but riding to Charleston with Daddy singing with Mel on the radio is a great memory.
Mr. Tillis has been writing and performing real country music since the 50s. I love him!

I Love Mel Tillis, always have!! Used to watch him on Porter Wagoner,they were hilarious together!! I laughed til I cried with them!! Mel is always good entertainment,lots of laughs!!

Marty Stuart is another great entertainer,yet humble & sweet!! And Connie Smith is more beautiful today than ever,& her voice, singing as good as ever!! Her clothes are so pretty,her taste in clothes very good, she knows what she looks good in!!
Got to see Marty and the gang at Buck Owens Chrystal Palace,they all signed my old guitar,i had a blast,i could not sit down had to get up and boogie a bit.My wife says,there he goes!!

Country fans lost a great one in Mel. One of the best and consistent country singer. Plus he was popular on talk shows. He even held the chair on many occasions. RIP

I have always enjoyed Marty's music as well as Mel . And Connie is getting prettier as she gets older and her voice is just as crisp and beautiful as it was when she started country music. And Detroit City has been one of my favorites from back when Bobby Bare recorded it way back in the 60's .
Mel's guitar player was Jerry Reid. He stayed with Mel for over 25 years. Great singer himself.
