@Travel Crawl Yeah, that's why he needs only one more victory to beat Sam Snead for the outright lead in total PGA wins. It took Snead 30 years to get to 82 and only 24 years for Tiger's 82 victories. Snead only won 7 major tournaments whereas Tiger has 15 including 5 Masters, the last which he won just 3 years ago! He had his 5th major back surgery while still recovering from his horrific car accident in Feb/2021. His injuries from that crash were so severe that doctors considered removing his right leg! Just 2 weeks ago he makes the cut and finishes 47th in the 2022 Masters! Sorry bud, but if you think Tiger has somehow become less of a man or competitor because of how he handled life's speed bumps, then you're not too smart!
I don't feel for him he shot 5 over on the back nine in the Third round. Shoot 1 under or better he has a three shot lead or better going into the final round.
I remember the chip in so well. I was in college in April 2005 and it was the rare weekend that I didn't go home for the weekend so I was in my apartment watching this live. In my entire life before or since, it is literally the only time I have ever jumped out of my seat (or in this case, off my bed) for something I've seen on TV.
I feel ya. That was the most unlikely, phenomenal shot I’ve ever witnessed. Dimarco was just crushed but I’m sure he wasn’t surprised. The Nike symbol just slowly showing itself for a second before it dropped is why Tiger is paid so well. Absolutely insane😊👍🍺
Padraig Harrington said most players have about two magical years, where everything with their swing and putting clicks. Those were DiMarco's two years.
I disagree. If anything, they wanted to make out as if DiMarco had a chance to keep the broadcast interesting. I don't think they particularly wanted him to beat Tiger.
He forced a playoff after being 3 down to start the final round. Gave Tiger one of his best runs in a major, if that shot falls on 18 history is soooo different
Man, can't help but feel for Chris. That nice chip on 18 would have won the Masters, so very close. Tiger playing cold blooded on the playoff hole is classic.
We will all quite rightly remember the win by Tiger and the best chip-in ever seen at Augusta, but you have to feel for and recognize the greatness of DiMarco this day. Nobody have him a chance but he went toe to toe with and outplayed Tiger the entire round. Had he had even a fraction of the fortune that Tiger had he would be a Masters Champion. The 16th is a microcosm of this - perfect tee shot and missed a winning putt by 1/2 an inch after seeing Tiger make his impossible chip after a terrible tee shot. The chip at 18 is the most forgotten shot in Masters history - again 1/2 inch to the left and he jars it and game over. It’s a signature win by Tiger but I will always remember and have great admiration for what almost should have been for DiMarco

He was added to the long list of would of, could of, should of golfers - Tiger doesn't need luck and everyone else needs at least a little bit of luck to beat him. @Justin Kapr So you are trying to say that the Master's should time stamp the start of every hole played? What are they going to do, time stamp the start of every hole for every player? What you are saying is a little crazy.
Never realized this until now, but I find it to be somewhat of an omen. 1:33 when Demarco and Woods are on the 6th green they pause to let the cheers of the crowd for Ryan Palmer to settle down after chipping in from almost the same spot Tiger does just a couple hours later. For the 6th green to be right there next to 16 and that happened when Tiger is right there is quite special. Such an unbelievable round
Super tough playing against a competitor like Dimarco. A short hitter, yes, but he has those targets on lock. He always hit first and knock them close, not to mention a brilliant short game. Some people thought Tiger would win this one easy but this was actually one of the toughest match he had and he won. A-Game.
I attended practice rounds on Tuesday and Wednesday of that year. That pine tree near Wood's ball was "outside the ropes" during the practice rounds, and I schlepped a sammich or three and a beer or twelve leaning against said tree.
Glad to see you still commenting on golf videos, and yes DiMarco was quite the competitor for Tiger, never seemed afraid of the moment like some of the others Tiger has faced.
1st hole now is only 10 yards longer than it was then. You rarely see people that far down past the bunker. and the ground was soft. He would be one of the longest hitters on Tour right now if he could still swing it like that.
1:29:30 Verne is wrong. the "impact" of Tiger's ball hitting the green didn't cause DiMarco's ball to roll. It was already moving. Wow, that would have to be some impact
You three are poster children for angry white nationalists lol. Dimarco and mediate got spanked by the GOAT who happens to be black. Deal with it fools.
The way he played this playoff hole was stupid. It was like okay I’m in the zone now. Perfect tee shot, the most flush shots ever, perfect birdie putt to win. Put those back to back bogeys to sleep fast.
So many guys who could have won 4, 5 or more majors instead got their careers sidelined when Tiger went Tiger on them - winning 14 majors from 1997 to 2008.
Watched this final round many times and I can't help but say that tiger's drive on 1 in the first round is absolutely insanely ridiculous. His 344 yard drive in the final round was exceptional but look how close he is to the green at 31:02.
Key takeaways: 1. Tiger’s chip on 16th destroyed Immelman’s hole in one on 16. 2. If Chris Dimarco could find his putter on the last 18 holes, he would’ve won this by a landslide. 3. Tiger Woods is still the f****** goat.
I HAVE SEEM THIS SHOT SO MANY TIMES I SAID MYSELF ORDER 1000 TIMES AND I SKILL GET EXCITED VERY TIME VERY TIME I ONLY WATCH ON VIDEOS IS TIGER WOODS AND THE MAN KOBE BRYANT, R.I.P. KOBE. 🤔😁😀😍😍♥️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

@@CinemaDemocratica and t weather look absolutely perfect a year ago the forecast was cloudy in the final round and they had tee times moved 40 minutes due to late afternoon rain
When Tiger stepped up to the tee on 12 and the commentator said “One of the most pivotal holes on the course.” He had no idea Tiger would win probably the most amazing Masters on record 14 years later because of that hole
I wish he never left Butch. That was the reason he did so bad coming down to the finish I think. But after 18 going into the playoff hole, so I’m switching him because he had a perfect Threewood down the middle, a perfect eight iron into the green. I mean one of the most purest shots I’ve ever seen and then of course drains a putt, so something switched and he was back on
So weird to watch the flyovers and see the shadow of a helicopter. Now could get higher quality shots with a $300 drone setup. Technology progression is amazing.
sooort of similar but Tiger's ball was up against the cut of rough which made it a much tougher shot especially considering the moment. still a sick shot by Palmer
This was Tiger's 4th Masters victory in an 8-year stretch, basically winning at a clip of every other year. At this point, I thought he'd easily surpass Nicklaus' record of winning the Masters six times. Never imagined it would take Tiger another 14 years to win his 5th green jacket. Maybe he can tie Nicklaus' 6 green jackets at the 2024 Masters.
This is like Christmas Eve! 2023 Master’s Eve! Btw, I’ve watched the 2005 final round at least a dozen times and just now realized at 3:52:37 when Tigers is about to tee off on 17, Hank Haney is in the background in a black Nike Hat and black Nike polo.
Tiger Woods Win Was Amazing bc he was 2 over after day 1 but if dimarco didn’t struggle on Sunday morning he would of won and the wet conditions were tuff to play

Such a cool moment at 3:37:40 . The insane Augusta roars visualized from another hole!
We all come here to see Tiger’s chip shot on the 16th
Nike couldn't of paid an advertising firm a 100k to come with that advertisment campaign.
Na
Couldn’t “have”, not couldn’t “of”.
Sorry to be pedantic!
I attended practice rounds on Tuesday and Wednesday of that year. That pine tree near Wood's ball was "outside the ropes" during the practice rounds, and I schlepped a sammich or three and a beer or twelve leaning against said tree.
DiMarco was an excellent foil for Tiger. He was a no nonsense, head down, go to work type player
Glad to see you still commenting on golf videos, and yes DiMarco was quite the competitor for Tiger, never seemed afraid of the moment like some of the others Tiger has faced.
Tiger's drive on 1 was insane
That was 344 yards. Tiger lit a rocket on it.
Been watching the masters for a couple decades, hard to remember another ball that far out on the first hole 🕳 !
1st hole now is only 10 yards longer than it was then. You rarely see people that far down past the bunker. and the ground was soft. He would be one of the longest hitters on Tour right now if he could still swing it like that.
Gutted Nicklaus 'called it a day' however plenty in the Golfing Vaults to reminisce & enjoy from that legend..♡
My first time watching some of the older classics and I just wanna say hats off to dimarco for being an absolute gamer in this final round
My all time favorite masters
1:29:30 Verne is wrong. the "impact" of Tiger's ball hitting the green didn't cause DiMarco's ball to roll. It was already moving. Wow, that would have to be some impact
Hahaha the vibration from the impact 😂 not a chance Verne lol
it’s hard not to fall in love with Chris Dimarco, but man he couldn’t catch a break
Seriously man, what else is the guy supposed to do...just can't do much when tigers playing like that
@@MarkSmith-lz5rk 100%, feel bad for the guy honestly that was his chance at glory and it didn’t go his way a few times...tough
Him and Rocco Mediate at the 2008 US Open... any other day they both win... but they went up against arguably the greatest ever next to Jack Nicklaus.
You three are poster children for angry white nationalists lol. Dimarco and mediate got spanked by the GOAT who happens to be black. Deal with it fools.
4:32:38 One of the most flush shots of all time
His divot was so huge it split into separate pieces
The way he played this playoff hole was stupid. It was like okay I’m in the zone now. Perfect tee shot, the most flush shots ever, perfect birdie putt to win. Put those back to back bogeys to sleep fast.
@@Renaissaucedthrew off the earths axis.
So many guys who could have won 4, 5 or more majors instead got their careers sidelined when Tiger went Tiger on them - winning 14 majors from 1997 to 2008.
😁😁😁
Phil Mickelson for one.
3:52:05 - the guy behind Tiger in yellow wins best reaction.
Watched this final round many times and I can't help but say that tiger's drive on 1 in the first round is absolutely insanely ridiculous. His 344 yard drive in the final round was exceptional but look how close he is to the green at 31:02.
He actually hit the Flag pole
First Masters to be produced in HD quality, but not all cameras
Some of the best putting Tiger ever did was in this tournament.
Hard to believe it took Woods 14 years to win another green jacket.
I'll be there!
Crazy how Phil is in way better shape now than 20 years ago. Props to him!
What happened at #16 in this round has to be the greatest moment in sports history. INSANE!!!
Tiger and Elin kissing and hugging at the end there. Wow such a cute couple, I hope they say together forever.
Quack Quack
In his prime, Tiger was the destroyer of dreams! No joke.
Tiger, 16th, best chip ever, possibly best shot.
Shane Plaskett Larry Mize 140 ft chip in on 11 to win wasn’t better?
Davis love did it in 99.
@@R_J_G never saw that one, where snd when
4:16:00 every time I rewatch this I am mind blown of how different history would’ve been if that dropped
In the intro and a few highlights as well, we hear a prototype version of "Thrill of Victory" by E.S. Posthumus.
Anyway of finding this thrill of victory version? Can’t find this prototype version anywhere.
Key takeaways:
1. Tiger’s chip on 16th destroyed Immelman’s hole in one on 16.
2. If Chris Dimarco could find his putter on the last 18 holes, he would’ve won this by a landslide.
3. Tiger Woods is still the f****** goat.
3:48:41 imagine sitting exactly behind a tree all day
😂😂
If Tiger had lost, it might have been hard to come back from psychologically. Bogeying 17 and 18 almost chocked it away.
The birdie in the payoff doesn’t get enough credit though. Drained that putt
He's not that type. It would have stung, but not for long.
I HAVE SEEM THIS SHOT SO MANY TIMES I SAID MYSELF ORDER 1000 TIMES AND I SKILL GET EXCITED VERY TIME VERY TIME
I ONLY WATCH ON VIDEOS IS TIGER WOODS
AND THE MAN KOBE BRYANT, R.I.P. KOBE. 🤔😁😀😍😍♥️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Bro???
AT THE 16TH HOLE AT THE 2005 MASTERS IT WAS THE MAGIC OF THE NIKE-SWOOSH BY TIGER WOODS, WITH THE NIKE SWOOSH ON HIS HAT AND SHIRT HE MADE A SHOT THAT WILL GO DOWN IN GOLF HISTORY WHEN THE SWOOSH SHOWED UP AT THE HOLE ALMOST STOPED ENOUGH TO REVEAL THE FULL NIKE-SWOOSH THEN DISAPPEAR INTO THE HOLE.---WELCOME TO THE MAGIC WORLD OF ---TIGER WOODS AND THE PGA.
Chip on 16 greatest golf shot since 2000 at least, still waiting to be topped. Poor dimarco
Wow! First hole of second round, DiMarco 152 yards in, Tiger 109 😅
ALL OF TIGER'S GOLF SHOTS HE ATTEMPT'S HAS A POSSIBILITY OF GOING IN THE HOLE WITH OUT DOUBT, AS WE ALL LEARNED IN THE 2005 MASTERS.
watched it live, just 19 years ago now..
Holy smokes, this is great
One of the truly great rounds of golf.
@@CinemaDemocratica and t weather look absolutely perfect a year ago the forecast was cloudy in the final round and they had tee times moved 40 minutes due to late afternoon rain
@2:35:12 -- hang time is not always indicative of how far the ball traveled; but the ball was in the air for approx. 8.25 seconds!!!
No way that ball was in the air for 8.25 seconds.
@@TimesUp777 elevated tee box
When Tiger stepped up to the tee on 12 and the commentator said “One of the most pivotal holes on the course.” He had no idea Tiger would win probably the most amazing Masters on record 14 years later because of that hole
I wish he never left Butch. That was the reason he did so bad coming down to the finish I think. But after 18 going into the playoff hole, so I’m switching him because he had a perfect Threewood down the middle, a perfect eight iron into the green. I mean one of the most purest shots I’ve ever seen and then of course drains a putt, so something switched and he was back on
The camera even shook when Tigers chip when in!
The chip on 16 is the best golf shot in history
24:45 when drone shots were shot from helicopters :)
Nothing happens in that time stamp
Thanks for the perfect upload. Made my day
So weird to watch the flyovers and see the shadow of a helicopter. Now could get higher quality shots with a $300 drone setup. Technology progression is amazing.
Wow Ryan Palmer made a pretty similar shot on 16 to Wood's at 1:35:00
sooort of similar but Tiger's ball was up against the cut of rough which made it a much tougher shot especially considering the moment. still a sick shot by Palmer
And the Masters was on the line.
one of my youngest watching golf memories that chip
This was Tiger's 4th Masters victory in an 8-year stretch, basically winning at a clip of every other year. At this point, I thought he'd easily surpass Nicklaus' record of winning the Masters six times. Never imagined it would take Tiger another 14 years to win his 5th green jacket. Maybe he can tie Nicklaus' 6 green jackets at the 2024 Masters.
3:49:10 most iconic shot in golf history
Watching in 2024. Wow.
Looking fore-ward to it!
imagine if Twitter was around when Tiger made that chip
Tiger Woods Win Was Amazing bc he was 2 over after day 1 but if dimarco didn’t struggle on Sunday morning he would of won and the wet conditions were tuff to play
l
The best challenger Tiger has faced at Augusta. It was match play all day...no one else was in it.
I think the only real challenge he has had in a tournament is from Dimarco and Bob maye! I think! I may be wrong!
Blessed4ever the PGA with Bob was unbelievable. Don’t forget the 2008 US Open
@@ktkl68 totally forgot about that! Yes that was a great battle!
It's pretty crazy that Tiger was up by 4 after 1 and it went to a playoff. If Tiger lost I would have been devastated.
I've looked up to his style of putting 35% of the time also depending on the course and grass
