  • Arslan "Arslan Ash" Siddique came out of nowhere. The world didn't know who he was, or what he was capable of when he showed up for Evo Japan. But his win kicked off one of the greatest stories in all of esports. A secret scene, incredible competitors, and the birth of a rivalry that defined the careers of the two best Tekken players in the world. Pakistan gave the world Arslan Ash, and Arslan Ash gave the world good-ass Tekken.
    This is his story.

*I'm half Spanish and half Pakistani and I've been once (4 months) to Pakistan when I was 9 years old.*
*And man the kids there play Tekken and many other arcade games until death!!!*
There are arcade centers everywhere and Tekken is always a must. Those centers work with tokens (which aren't expensive) per game or two games.
I remember going to the arcade centers every day with my cousins and don't leaving them until late afternoon. That's how it used to be when I was 9, now that I'm 25 I can't imagine how it would be (although judging from this video it hasn't changed at all, which is great!!!).
Pakistan has a lot of talent let no one doubt about it, but sadly it goes unnoticed due to the international media, that has no damn interest at all in promoting or showing anything from Pakistan....... Ohhh I meant anything good from Pakistan, they will surely highlight anything bad that happens there, that's for sure!!! (as if the other countries had no problems).
That leads to people from the western countries as my self to firstly don't even knowing where Pakistan is, and if they know where it is, that leaves them believing that Pakistan is a trash whole where no one can go or they will get killed.
WHICH IS NOTHING MORE THAN STRAIGHT BULLSH1T.
Pakistan is a beautiful country with people full of generosity and humbleness.
I will really recommend anyone that might read this comment to go there and have a look for themselves, or at least watch videos and get informed about it and to do not get tricked in believing straight away what the media says.

Thats honestly true for the entire country of Pakistan. My desperate hope is that Pakistan grows in a way that is stable, not with hundreds of companies flooding in, doing their disgusting immoral activities to make money. Because if a country comes up that way, thats not a win, that is a loss.
If a country comes up that way, it saps away all the nutrients from the soil, preventing further growth.

Respect and Love from India for Arslan Ash man. 🙏 His story is so amazing and inspiring. He truly deserves all the success that he got after putting a lot of passion and hardwork into it.
Plus I absolutely his and Knee's relation they are rivals but both of them have mutual respect for each other and both of they just want to learn from each other to get better as a player. I especially salute to Knee for being humble enough to say that he would love to learn from Pakistani Player. Bcoz it's easy to be arrogant when you are such a prolific figure in the market. But he isn't like other people and Similarly for my man Arslan too, he doesn't have any ego or anything like that he doesn't want to beat anyone just for the sake of it. He wants to beat them for himself. So that he can be better. Plus the way he tear up and bowed and prayed when he finally won was really genuine. So I have nothing but love and respect for both Arslan and Knee. I hope more players from Pakistan get their chance to showcase their talent. ❤️

I'm a fg vet and i dont think this video, as well-made as it was, comes close to explaining the significance of Arslan's and Pakistan's accomplishment.
His skill and performance this year proves to EVERYONE, that no matter how isolated or disconnected your offline scene is from the rest of the world, if your scene has the dedication, drive, and hunger, you can sharpen each other to the point that you surpass even the fuckin Koreans, who has the most fleshed out, competitive Tekken arcade scenes ALL OVER the country.
There has never been a story like this in the history of all esports. Imagine if some random poor country that barely has a pro basketball league, came out and destroyed the American NBA circuit. That's basically what Arslan and Pakistan did.
Everyone knows Korea to be the powerhouse of eSports, one whose dominance in Tekken is known world-wide, acknowledged, and documented. Story of Arslan just *shouldn't* happen, but it did. He showed the world that anything is possible. Truly amazing. They have to make this into at least an hour long documentary to really get everything across.

I'm quoting Arslan from his different interviews esp. the podcost with Junaid Akram bhai where Ash said that his reflexes were very fast when he was a teen esp. when he was 12 yrs old boy. He was always a topper of his class but he never got an opportunity to play outside country at that time due to shortage of money, sponsors and Visa issues. Later on, his father passed away that was quite hard time for his family. He continued his studies along with his gaming passion. At the time when he was a CA student, he got an opportunity so he left CA & went after his passion that was takken amidst all kinds of tough challenges. Credit goes to the friends who supported him & the ppl and the group of UAE who sponsored him early in his career when he had no money to travel abroad n play in foreign tournaments.
Unfortunately, there was no opportunity for him to go abroad for foreign tournaments when he was so young n talented. He further said that in his early teens, he won in a tournament in Karachi against the best takken players of Pakistan. Prior to that competition, the organizers said that the Winner of the tournament will get money, opportunity and sponsership to travel abroad and play tournament in Japan that time. But they decieved him and didn't gave him those opportunities as they claimed. They just gave him little amount. Ash said that he always wanted to compete abroad but couldn't go for it b'coz there were no sponsors and govt. usually don't invest much apart from Cricket or few other outdoor games. So, all this talent got wasted. I believe, if Arslan got opportunities like the Koreans, Japanese, Americans and the Europeans, at that time when he was young, story would have been completely different from today. However, he already did so much in his 20's, Ma Sha'ALLAH, that ppl across the gaming world n Takken community started to know him. Arslan ! You are a huge inspiration for a lot of young talented ppl across the region. I really wish good for all other talented players so they don't get waste in any field due to lack of opportunities whether they belong to any country or religion. Always support talented ppl around you. At Least, we can encourage n motivate them.
Best of Luck ahead, Arslan Bro. Lots of Prayers n Blessings for Everyone in the world. Huge Love n Respect from Pakistan. ❤🎉😊

You have very good reason to be, the man has done your people proud and honestly, it's been an exciting rise to watch. The thing that gets me the most, and the thing that keeps coming up is this. Arslan is a product of your FGC in the region, in your region there are players as good as Arslan whom just climbed a near-2000 man bracket to beat Knee, best in the world prior to his rise, not once... but twice.
Welcome to the FGC, Pakistan... Honestly, I want to know of these 'killers'. I want to see more of these 'killers', and you know what. I doubt I am the only one.
For Arslan alone, you have my respect.

    • @DuvJones
      @DuvJones 4 роки тому +1

@Zayed Haroon Keep in mind that I only speak in the context of the global FGC, which isn't use to this kind of thing happening. In the context of Tekken, it VERY unique... because prior to the start of this year, it was just assumed that we knew all the hot spot regions for the game. BOI, we were wrong on that one.
As far as general esports, we'll have to see... I am not so sure that you will have many player come up on say, Rainbow 6, Overwatch, League of Legends, DOTA2 and the like. If only because PC's a still rather high on the pricing end. And for context, I speak of Canadian pricing of PC' components as a Canadian.... Rupee conversion must be murder.
That said, would I be against seeing more players from the region in those games? No, I would not. Infact if said players come in and mop the floor @ say, The International? That would be hype as hell.
