Sun...Moon...Stars...Earth...Sky...Ocean. Long ago, the 6 sources of Magic lived in Harmony. But everything changed when the Dark Magic Nation attacked. Only the Dragon King, Thunder, who possessed the power to shock both Earth and Sky could stop them, but when the World needed him the most, he vanished. Years would pass, until I, Callum and my younger Half-brother Ezran with the A Moonshadow Elf named Ralya would discover the heir of the late Dragon King, the Egg of the Dragon Prince. Although he is just inside a glowing Egg and doesn't do much other than living from the umbilical cord. I believe the Dragon Prince can save the World.
@@OdobyAdo I think season 3 will start off with Sol Regem trying to attack Callum and Rayla but the dragon that they saved in season 2 will turn out to be Sol Regem's wife (it was a female) so it will probably tell him that they are good so Regem will allow them to pass the border.
Three minutes, and they summarize their entire magic system, the rivalry between elves and humans, and the entire backstory behind the “dragon prince”. That’s some amazing storytelling right there!
"There's nothing new under the sun." Solomon, the ancient King of Israel, wrote that over 3,000 years ago. Even if the Dragon Prince's magic system and backstory is somewhat generic, the characters are distinct, and the storytelling is fabulous. That's why everyone who watches this show is so invested in it, and why it gets 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Tbh the fist time i listened to this i thought 'ah yes greedy humans again' BUT as the show went on i grew more and more suspicious. After S3 though i think i have a few more answers. Humans weren't just 'greedy', they were thought of as 'lesser beings' because they couldn't do magic. And the 'scary mage' in the beginning took down the dragon because he was going to destroy an entire city as a power move. Humans weren't greedy. They were desperate.
I like to think they were both, kinda like Viren is right now. Desperation got him on the Dark magic train with Aaravos, but he's growing increasingly more power hungry. I think the thing about dark magic is it becomes a crutch. It seems to have a spell for pretty much everything, so first you use it because there's no other alternative, then you use it when it's convenient, and eventually you're looking for a way to solve every problem you have with it. It makes you believe you can brute force any challenge if you have enough power, so you find ways to acquire more, which ends up hurting more creatures.
Faolin Siannodel Very well put! Callum’s experience with dark magic in S2 really puts this in context because we actually see his soul struggle against something so corrupt. His soul is also forever marked as Sol Regem could still smell the dark magic. Claudia during the same season and time, is also fascinating because to save her brother she is increasingly doing worse and worse things. Road to hell and good intentions basically. One can only imagine what Claudia’s inner self looks like now. Also it’s become obvious that ‘someone’ taught the humans dark magic since someone gave the staff as shown in the video. Very possibly Aaravos who is coincidentally the narrator giving us this twisted history in the first place.
Exactly. No one enjoys being treated as the "lesser" species. Without the natural ability to access primal magic, dark magic is the only path for humanity to change the status quo.
@@charlesw5919 Yeah there was definitely a power disparity since the magic people were able to uproot all the humans to live on the other side of the continent. Except! Callum can do primal magic. So i'm hoping S4 sheds some light on Human Life Before because there are simply too many theories we can make.
@@M9Nein With the way things worked out for Callum, it's probably possible for humans to gain access to primal magic, but it would be incredibly difficult, may take years if not decades just to gain arcanum access.
I'm glad to see that the show makers didn't blame everything on one side. On the one hand it is understandable that the dragons and elves consider use of dark magic terrifying, and it was invented by and is exclusively used by humans. On the other hand banishing the ENTIRE human population of the eastern half of the continent is a massive overreaction. Killing the Dragon King is horrifying, but how many humans had he himself killed?
1987MartinT the humans likely got too greedy for their own good and the elves too overly protective and vengeful. Both sides are for their current problems but the elves give a more Fire Nation feel better than the humans.
s2 tells the 2nd conflict between humans and xadians started over a titan´s heart, because Harrow needed Viren to perform a spell on it to get a bounty big enough to feed 100k people.
Sebas G no that was a different situation. Slaying Thunder was the cause of the war. The titans heart was needed for saving two kingdoms from suffering terrible loss.
To use dark magic is to kill a magical creature and extract its powers thats why the elves drove out the humans in fear of maybe one day kill them to use dark magic. It all explains in the intro did you listen? Lol
this is the best show i've seen in YEARS the animation gets better in the later episodes, some great characters are introduced halfway through, the mysteries are intriguing, the body language of the characters and fantastic, it's aimed a younger audience but there's enough jokes and interactions for adults to giggle about. the official accounts are hilarious, there's never a shortage of memes on their twitter or tumblr, it's great without spoiling anything: every character is interesting and funny in their own way, the music and scenery are great, and you can fight with your friends over what type of magical elf you would be if you were in that universe.

I love how when the red dragon that attacked soren turned around, looked at zym and was like “What are you doing- wait- are you the- ? !!!!!!!!!! I have to tell the others, the dragon prince lives!” Edit: Maybe at the end, “Sol Regem” is the dragon that was waiting for them
This intro has so much thought out into it. Aaravos is narrator, Sol Regem has his eyes, plus this references season 3's opening of blinding Sol Regem.
It would be the other way around as S3 would retcon this, if it weren't immediately made clear this intro is an example of unreliable narrator with him saying the egg was destroyed.
I quickly go back to season 1 the intro just to confirm the narrator is Aaravos.....and its him! When I first heard his voice.... my heart is racing super fast. Damn I love him.
I didn't cry when I watched it, however, it's a scene I'm very hesitant to rewatch, because now that I care more about Callum, it's going to wreak havoc with my emotions.
Of course in every mystic elf vs human conflict they always have this one crazy elf who wants to destroy humans. Like in Yeloli we get Mandola and the elementals, in Mystic Greens 2 we have that freaking blood vine thing, and even in Flower Fairy we get Ultimate Pixie Amarantha. So I wouldn't be surprised if Aaravos would go along those lines, though I think he would be somewhat like Amarantha considering on how Amarantha was also once the narrator of the series...
I believe it. He may be hot, but my intuition screams, "MANIPULATIVE" about him. The creators said he tends to take a... special... interest in humans... betting it's bc he wants human pawns/a dark mage army, etc. He strikes me as the kinda guy who doesn't do favors for anything in return for NOTHING.
So Aavaros, the possibile villain of the series narrated the beginning....... ... So they pulled a RWBY on us with the villain narrating the beginning of the series (Salem is the villain of RWBY)
Pluto Nebeth Nah he’s definitely the villain. You’ve probably seen season 3 by now, and he’s pretty much the mastermind behind everything bad that’s ever happened.
I love this show SO much, the animation is beautiful, the storyline is really good and realistic because it’s not just ‘oh they’re the bad guys and we gotta defeat them’. I like the diversity in it as well: powerful men and women, both more feminine and more masculine, different skin tones, a lesbian character. What I like about the last one is that they put that in the show without making a big deal out of it, she just is a lesbian and everyone treats it like it’s the most normal thing in the world. Edit: the character design is also AMAZING,
1:52 There's another galaxy elf boi there. 1:59 hands of another here. So Aaravos is some sort of elf species that's been around a long time. Do like him quite a lot though. His character that is xD His expressions are brilliant and the voice acting is amazing. Someone also mentioned he has the same voice actor as the "soul eater" creature in avatar. The face one? xD
Wow I looooovvvveee this opening scene after watching season 2 and 3. You know the narrator is the villian. And the human mage uses dark magic to stop sol regum from burning down a village. Soooo good
I'm impressed by how well this short intro sets up this interesting Cold War scenario between humans and magical species. Something Killzone: Shadow Fall couldn't do well for an entire game...
Does anyone else think that by the end of Season 3, Aaravos will pass from where-ever he is back to the real world? I would bet just about anything, that's the next cliff-hanger.
Well intentioned man? He was killing innocent magic creatures to use their essence to make bizarre magical things! He wanted the humanity's evolution? Hitler was well intentioned too thinking this way, he only wanted his people to evolve. Seem by the vision of the mad men, they are all well intentioned
Loba Branca while you make a good point, it seems to me that humans were being treated as lesser beings, starving and struggling with their lack of magical powers while the elves and dragons saw themselves as superior and humans as inferior The humans are immediately at a disadvantage in this world, so they hunted magical animals, which, while unsavory, would likely be the only way to be equal to elves and dragoms
This show has such amazing potential! I am really hoping the second season will be longer than the first so they can even further develop their amazing characters and world!
I know I'm late But can I just say how amazing this show is It's got the archaic magical elements we all know and love, interesting plot, and contemporary progressive themes.
I love how in the season 1 Intro aaravos seems to purposefully be portraying the humans as the cause of all these problems and the intro perceives them in a rather negative light, yet come season 3 and we get a lot more context
@@oliviamoore2991 That seems to be where the show is heading so far. Aavaros doesn't have any fondness for humans, but he finds them. . ."amusing". He sees them as useful tools, unlike the other magical creatures. Weapons of war he can aim and mold from his own desires. What he ultimately wants and why he's using humans hasn't been revealed yet. He hates Avizandum and considers the former dragon pretentious and uppity. Aavaros did something where he crossed paths with Avizandum where he was banished inside the mirror. And Aavaros did something truly horrific in the way he killed Khessa and Janai's grandmother. He's so dangerous, even the magic creatures all fear him.

Which suggests that they don't really have a Kingdom, or other military power/civilisation to their name. Either that or they don't take part in foreign affairs, as they certainly aren't close to the border between species. Maybe elves have their own social magic hierarchy?

I agree. I like a fast-paced narrative, but The Dragon Prince moves a little TOO fast at times. I feel like something along the lines of 12 episodes a season rather than 9 would have given it a bit more room to breathe. Season 3 especially I felt was rushed, because they were racing to tie up the first arc in a bow and had such limited space to do it.
I made me own intro! long ago there was a series called dragonPrince. In that series, there was so much magic and wonder. There were 6 times when I went to watch. When the sun came up. When the moon rose. When the stars appeared. If I traveled around the earth. When I went through the air on the plane and when I went across the ocean on the boat. But then corona came into play. People saw this and freaked out! They had told a lot of series and movies that they weren't allowed to release it because of corona. Dragon Prince was one of them. And so dragon prince was dead for a very long time. And without any graces corona destroyed season 4 of dragon prince. And now a whole bunch of people are on the verge of boredom.

I love how when the red dragon that attacked soren turned around, looked at zym and was like “What are you doing- wait- are you the- ? !!!!!!!!!! I have to tell the others, the dragon prince lives!”
Edit: Maybe at the end, “Sol Regem” is the dragon that was waiting for them
Now we know who Sol Regen is
@@dynias7282 And we know even more about him 4 years later
@@TheDarkLordoftheSiff im behind in 4th season i only watch 1st part
This intro has so much thought out into it. Aaravos is narrator, Sol Regem has his eyes, plus this references season 3's opening of blinding Sol Regem.
It doesn’t retcon anything. There’s a cut right before Sol Regem dives in the water.
It would be the other way around as S3 would retcon this, if it weren't immediately made clear this intro is an example of unreliable narrator with him saying the egg was destroyed.
@@ximienlundquist8487 Sorry, I couldn't think of the world. I meant reference, I don't know why I said retcon
Cookie oh okay that makes sense
I quickly go back to season 1 the intro just to confirm the narrator is Aaravos.....and its him!
When I first heard his voice.... my heart is racing super fast.
Damn I love him.
Beautiful. The creators of this show are formidable artists. And Aaravo's voice narrating the context elevates it to the next level!!!
Am I the only one that cried when Callum had to say his final goodbye to his step-dad when he passed him that letter?
In episode 2😭😭😭
I didn't cry when I watched it, however, it's a scene I'm very hesitant to rewatch, because now that I care more about Callum, it's going to wreak havoc with my emotions.
New Theory: Aaravos is the true villain. I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him.
That feels too obvious
And you are right
Well it is emplied he taught humans dark magic
So Aavaros, the possibile villain of the series narrated the beginning.......
... So they pulled a RWBY on us with the villain narrating the beginning of the series
(Salem is the villain of RWBY)
Maybe, but after rewatching this intro and the series a couple of times, i'm starting to doubt if he will be really the villain.
What's RWBY
Pluto Nebeth Nah he’s definitely the villain. You’ve probably seen season 3 by now, and he’s pretty much the mastermind behind everything bad that’s ever happened.
1:09 uUhhH that's the scepter that Viren uses. T h a t e x p la i n s a
l o t
I actually noticed since episode 1
IT IS HIM!! HE’S THE NARRATOR!!!
Code of the Flowers all over again...
After season 3 I finally understand the intro now
Yep
I love this show SO much, the animation is beautiful, the storyline is really good and realistic because it’s not just ‘oh they’re the bad guys and we gotta defeat them’. I like the diversity in it as well: powerful men and women, both more feminine and more masculine, different skin tones, a lesbian character. What I like about the last one is that they put that in the show without making a big deal out of it, she just is a lesbian and everyone treats it like it’s the most normal thing in the world.
Edit: the character design is also AMAZING,
Who else came back here after seeing what happened to Sol Regem?
Aaravos!
Aaravos!
Aaravos!
Aaravos!
Aaravos!!
Aaravos
1:52 There's another galaxy elf boi there.
1:59 hands of another here.
So Aaravos is some sort of elf species that's been around a long time.
Do like him quite a lot though. His character that is xD His expressions are brilliant and the voice acting is amazing.
Someone also mentioned he has the same voice actor as the "soul eater" creature in avatar. The face one? xD
Koh the Face Stealer.
@@julieuh2545 Ahh that was it! Thank you ^^
The hands and the elf is Aaravos
Panther Picks says on the official website he’s a startouched elf, and that they live as long as stars
That elf boy is Aaravos
Beautiful introduction, The voice The music everything
Wow I looooovvvveee this opening scene after watching season 2 and 3. You know the narrator is the villian. And the human mage uses dark magic to stop sol regum from burning down a village. Soooo good
The first 5 seconds got me hooked on the show
Same!
I love how this is aravos but we didn't know yet
The moment when you watch that one episode that brings context to the opening... I wish I could watch it again for the first time
same, the beginning of episode one of season three was gold
I'm impressed by how well this short intro sets up this interesting Cold War scenario between humans and magical species.
Something Killzone: Shadow Fall couldn't do well for an entire game...
Aaravos' voice is strangely pleasing to listen to
I find it calming but unsettling at the same time, is that even possible?
1:58 🤔🤔 for those people who looking back at the Intro notice the hands
Aaravos :)
DUDE I want to meet the sky elves! THEY HAVE WINGS!!!
Yeah they remind me of Leizhenzi.
Not all of them have wings, as confirmed in season 3.
Some have wings, some have magic for wings and some have neither.
i wanna meet the tidebound elves
Does anyone else think that by the end of Season 3, Aaravos will pass from where-ever he is back to the real world? I would bet just about anything, that's the next cliff-hanger.
Like how this is recontextualized, cause that majestic dragon is a tyrant and the creepy human mage was actually a well-intentioned man
Well intentioned man? He was killing innocent magic creatures to use their essence to make bizarre magical things! He wanted the humanity's evolution? Hitler was well intentioned too thinking this way, he only wanted his people to evolve. Seem by the vision of the mad men, they are all well intentioned
Loba Branca while you make a good point, it seems to me that humans were being treated as lesser beings, starving and struggling with their lack of magical powers while the elves and dragons saw themselves as superior and humans as inferior
The humans are immediately at a disadvantage in this world, so they hunted magical animals, which, while unsavory, would likely be the only way to be equal to elves and dragoms
And don't forget that the narrator is a creepy caterpillar thing instead of an actual person.
Pandora Amane he’s an elf
This show has such amazing potential! I am really hoping the second season will be longer than the first so they can even further develop their amazing characters and world!
The second season is the same length but is WAAAAAAYYY better than 1st season, and that's saying something.
Oh boy the third season was lit !
Now the fourth is coming
I know I'm late
But can I just say how amazing this show is
It's got the archaic magical elements we all know and love, interesting plot, and contemporary progressive themes.
This show changed my life in a good way. Thank you for giving us the story of the dragon prince.
Seriously the animation budget for this series is incredible. Just visually stunning😍😍🥰❤❤❤
I love how in the season 1 Intro aaravos seems to purposefully be portraying the humans as the cause of all these problems and the intro perceives them in a rather negative light, yet come season 3 and we get a lot more context
Big daddy Aaravos
yes
exactly
Love the show, season two was really good! Here's hoping for many more seasons!
1. aaron ehasz is a legend.
2. the music in his shows r absolutely incredible
The war part with the great ones and avazandum flying over them looks so cool great design
when Koh the Face Stealer narrates the opening for a new show, I say, this stuff is gonna be awesome
The beginning scene is the opening episodes of season 3. I finally can understand the lore a lot better and the motives.
VIREN DID NOTHING WRONG
SHAMAN DUDE WAS A HERO
AAVAROS IS A TRUE BRO
Man why does there always got to be that one guy that screws everything up
After season 2 and 3: oh boi.
You are a friend to humans aren't you Aaravos
More like puppeteer, I'd say
This show is so interesting. I just can't stop wondering what Aaravos's motivation is
Just realized now after rewatching, the narrator is actually Aaravos himself
Am i the only one worried about Claudia with a bit of gray hair, just like the mage in the beginning?
Yeah, Claudia is starting to slowly get corrupted...
She is like Jaina
Ahaha they’re not just “a bit” now are they
1:48 Aarvos!!! How did I only just see this now?!
I was hooked with this Saga! I love it ❤❤❤
dark magic... was a gift for humanity from Aaravos :)
This intro got an entirely different perspective!
I've played this pretty much every night for ~2 weeks now in order to go to sleep. So congrats on making a new monster 😂
But seriously, I love everything about this show and I can't *WAIT* to see what's in store for its future. A+++++
*D R A G O N B I G*
Everyone: omg Aaravos was narrating
Me: SoL rEgEm
KetchupPuppy 12 me: HOLY SHIT THATS AMAYA AT THE BORDER!!! IVE WATCHED THIS LIKE 8 TIMES HOW AM I JUST NOW NOTICING HER THERE NOW!?!
Sun, moon, stars, earth, sky, and ocean. Long ago, the six nations lived together in harmony. Then everything changed when the Dark nation attacked...
The last really good Cartoon I saw was Avatar the last Airbender and Now I have this show The Dragon Prince .Has anyone heard or seen any reference to Avatar
One of the co-creators of this show, Aaron Ehasz, was the head writer and director of Avatar: The Last Airbender
Claudia walks around reading a book called "Love Among the Dragons", same title as the play Zuko was complaining about.
Also the haiku thing with Soren and Claudia counting syllables on her fingers in s2
The dude who voices Aaravos voiced Koh the face stealer
@@luciel4918 Did he really?
Omg that is Arcann's voice omg omg!!!
THANK YOU IT TOOK ME FOREVER
Thank you, man. And I taught finally can avoid, Star Wars.
It’s aaravos not arcane.
I'm just here for the Sol content. I love his design.
and to think season 1 is narrated by the main villain
The 6 primal magics. The sun. The moon. The skies. The earth. The sky. And the ocean
okay you have my attention with this show, why haven't i discovered this earlier
aw man. bring us season 3 already. we've been dying to see it.
1:00 now we know this poor guy was just trying to defend his village
Even in this opening, we've yet to see an ocean or an Earth elf.
We've seen star elves (Aaravos and that other dude from the opening, who may also be Aaravos), we've seen Sky elves, we've seen sun elves, we've seen moon elves, but although Earth elves have been mentioned in relation to Callum and his disguise... still haven't seen them.
Which suggests that they don't really have a Kingdom, or other military power/civilisation to their name. Either that or they don't take part in foreign affairs, as they certainly aren't close to the border between species. Maybe elves have their own social magic hierarchy?
Wow this series looks great. The animation looks clean and vivid. Good story telling.
I just think sun, earth, and sky as light, nature, and air but I still love this and I have ideas for new sources of magic like healing, animal, fire, and weather. And again, I love the series!
press f to pay respects to dragon king
Avizandum or Sol Regem? I respect the former more than the latter.
1:31 That same sound effect I hear in Last Airbender and Doctor who! I love it!

Oh... my... god... this serie is AMAZING
My only critique of this show is that the books are too short. Only 9 chapters per book. Doesn't give us enough time to appreciate the show nor enough time to appreciate how far the trio had to travel. I am very much looking forward to season 4 to 7.
General Amaya is on the introoooooo!
It’s late buttttt.... BEST SHOW EVER! Good job!
AARAVOS!!!!!!!!!
After _A Song of Ice and Fire_ debuted from GRRM's D&D campaign, I can't help but to believe that every fantasy story afterward is just someone's D&D campaign come to TV life.
At least Netflix is trying to create some good news shows. The only thing we get on TV now is shitty, boring shows.
Finished S06 and got here to watch this and just say: WOW.
Boy, Avatar, I mean lord of the rings, sorry, I was gonna say The Black Cauldron... Wait, No, what I really wanted to say is every fantasy tale ever made...
No, I mean The dragon prince sure looks interesting
Sol regem just vibing until the humans attacked
*sol is fabulous in this video*
I watched that whole in my uncle's room it was so long and cool also I wanna find it again :)
This was all I needed to love it!
