Launching To Orbit With One Click & More!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 жов 2024
- Having launched a multi stage rocket to orbit by only hitting the stagin controls I take this to the logical next level and attempt to put a rocket in orbit with only one button push.
But that turned out to be too easy so I also do some planes.
Unedited version:
• Livestream - 23rd May ...
"This is supposed to be difficult!" -lol
Where and how can I watch livestreams live?
Stefan Klass twitch. tuesday night his time (6:30am British summer time wednesday morning)
twitch.tv is the site. But he steams usually on Tuesdays at 10:00pm US Pacific (1:00am on the east coast)
Alex Siemers That's 7am for me. I can do this during breakfast.
Lucky you! I live in the Midwestern US, and I'm not the person to stay up until midnight for a livestream.
The moment when Scott Manley realizes he is actually good at the game.
"I wasn't controlling it with my feet"
Don't give us that. We've all seen the Wii Fit Balance Board video.
Me: hm thats sounds pretty difficult, cant wait for all the explosions ..
Scott: Hold my beer.
*Video plays*
Me: Back to KSP Pre-School ..
He holds his own beer and launches a rocket with his nose!
It took me an entire year, but, KSPre-school.
KSPre-school
"We have not had any fatalities."
*jump cut*
"I think that's what we're going to do."
Kitchensink108 he has no fatalities
Next video :"Launching to orbit with half a click"
Mun in 1 click
Thomas Clark-Phelps i think you can do it if you use kOS
But first, we need to talk about parallel universes.
+Gibbelblonk But the real question is how long it will take to build up enough speed.
You could easily get a flyby of the Mun in one click without mods.
one click to the mun?
Not really a problem.. Just needs some calculations...
You can buildy engine arrays with the thrust needed, give them the fuel needed for the duration. Then you simply build a 2nd cluster with is facing in the ither direction, permenetly canceling out it's thrust ( for the transition phase)
Then you just need to get the fuel level right for the "delay"
Simply do this with every burn you need and the problem is solved...
With barbicane, miguel ardan and nicholl kerman
Modded, easy.
Just go to the map view, and click the mün.
the timing of the launch isn’t that hard, I’ve often launched to the mun directly without circularizing, as that saves deltav, it’s not hard at all, so yeah if you calculate the deltav it should really be possible
"Today, I have plan. My plan is to do as little as possible and still be successful"
Ah... I knew I was a fan of Scott for a reason... :p
I love how everytime someone mistypes something we all look at our keyboard and go "yeah he missed"
Lmao same
lnao
Kik
I really love the fact that KSP pays homage to Scott when it loads (flying safe!)
“I got all the wheels on the ground!” Technically that happens every time Scott, even crashes
how 'bout an even harder challenge: one click to orbit ... AND BACK! (so basically you have a very low thrust engine facing backwards all the time, and your main engines run out exactly at 70 km so the backwards engines push you back into the atmosphere. I'm not sure about the landing though!)
Samuel Hofstetter girders as landing legs
Do it SpaceX style... Just land using the engine!
+LeaderofChickens the tiny steerable wheels actually have an impact tolerance of ~mach 1, but depending on the way KSP handles things, they might "overstress" rather than exploding...
Ion engine. Could actually work. Hmm.
This!
Girders as landing legs are a nice way to annihilate a planet. With a majot exception of Jool.
"my favorite mod is realism overhaul because it adds realism and... overhauls it"
Can you do a video where you make an A-10 Warthog model and try to fly it with one engine, one tail, one elevator and half of one wing missing? because it's designed to be able to fly under those conditions.
Genius idea
Not really
Been there done that with the BD Armory mod when the computer-controlled opponent teams Gatling gun hit me with a salvo when I was testing my A-10 Warthog look alike contraption. Did not fly well but it did fly until next salvo hit soon after... BD Armory mod (weapons on your contraptions) I can recommend for those that want more explosions and rapid unplanned disassembly :)
YES! This, ladies and gentlemen, is a fully automatic orbiter. Congrats, Scott, you have won KSP and blew my mind. I love it!
Here's a funny challenge.. Try building a rocket that contains only one of EVERY stock part, and try to get to orbit or the moon with it, or even more if you can!
thats a lot of engines
I made a rocket that can launch 3 small barely functional communication satellites using only SRBs and you press the spacebar twice, once at launch. and again at cutoff to deploy
Fly safe!
BTW you can set the default throttle position in the settings ;)
5:05 This just reinforces the thing where Scott says "This is going to be difficult." and then accomplishes the goal successfully while making it look easy. Don't deny it Scott, you are the man.
"That's how Russia wins wars" while crashing plane. I think you mean Japan Scott...
Japan crashed planes *and lost.*
I feel ashamed with half my ethnicity now :(
Japan
Totally lost it when you said "gear!" And it popped out the top as well 😂
How does Scott Manley schedule these missions?
He has to planet :P
that was a bad pun I should APOLLOgize
_"Carlos!"_
... Groaned the entire class shortly before finally deciding that he would be their first sacrifice to Moloch.
Jixijenga kek mitt uns
Get out
Get out again
"Today, for once, I have a plan!"
Is a phrase we all want to say one day
We did some tests a while back - you should always push your stage separators up against the heat shield so the shroud isn't spawned. The shroud causes drag.
Literally a Kerbal god. Anyone watching this without failing 1000x on their own will never understand how good this guy is.
Me: HOW DID YOU DO THAT?!
Scott Manley: Well, it's not rocket science...
Me: IT IS ROCKET SCIENCE!
Great Scot(t)... this man's a bloody genius! It looks so deceptively simple that rocket, but it's far from it.
Next up: escaping the solar system with three thrusters and two buttons.
14:40 Goat simulator in KSP
But can you get into orbit with only half an A press?
Thanks, now I'm having pannenkoek2012/pannenkeok2012 flashbacks
An A press is an A press. You can't say it's only a half.
@@BurningApple Well TJ """"""""""BurningApple"""""""""" Yoshi
Kineth1 woooosh
Scott you can change the prelaunch throttle in the settings menu so that your liquid fuel engines don't start with 50% throttle
I'm talking about the throttle that you adjust with Shift and Ctrl. He mentioned it at 3:26
"It may take a bit of work to happen"
Lmao WRONG!
10:02 -> SimplePlanes (Procedural wings and fuselages)
*"BEEEER ROOCKET FUUUUEELL!"* *Crashes into terrain*
15:02 - Flight Computer: PULL UP!
Pilot: Okay...
10:27 for some reason I was so excited that he was using a piece I'd played on violin lol
I got to 16:22 and had to stop your video. What the deuce?! they're making a Lego Saturn v rocket?! had to Google... I almost cried, that model is beautiful. simply stunning detail, and my birthday is coming up!
I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart! if you hadn't mentioned this, then I would have probably found out years from now and have to pay an outrageous price from so.e guy on the internet after Lego discontinues it.
would really love to see you have a go with Principia mod in ksp... even better if you do a full realism overhaul with it, would be epic.
Love the classical music
5:04 "Video's over, thanks for watching. I'm Scott Manley, fly safe"
3:40 I'm pretty sure that it's allowed to throttle up before launch - you can even change your starting throttle in the settings!
Yes you can distil beer to get something strong enough to burn as fuel, we even have a term for what you get when you take a drink made from fermented grains, (i.e. beer), and distil it. You may even have some bottles of it in your house.
0:56 everytime somebody says that my low-ram-gamer heart fills with joy! :')
Good choice of Beethoven's symphony for the montage!
Moon crash in one click?
Damien W he already made a railgun that dos that.....i think
"My favorite mod would be realism overhaul, because it adds realism and overhauls it" -Scott 2017.
14:29 - Australia kicks in
I come from the land down under
3:28 You mention only being able to do 50% thrust. I believe there is an option to change the starting thrust in the menu.
What was the Hydraulic Press video where they mention you, Scott?
I'd like to know as well
It's a video on their Beyond the Press channel called "How Fast Can A Fidget Spinner Spin? (Before Exploding)"
Scott I have a Challenge for you: Take of from the run way fly once around Kerbin and land back at the run way using less than 690 units of fuel, you can not go over 30k meters, and you can not use more than 23 parts.
His last words were... "Beer rocket FFUUUUUEELLLL!!!"
Easily the most entertaining channel on UA-cam today.
"I think I would have to say Realism Overhaul. Because it's got realism, and it overhauls it. It's got all the overhauled realism you could ever need."
-Scott Manley 2017
I'm pretty sure they have lunched things into orbit this way but they probably pressed more than one button
The lambda 4 s i think scot talked about it in his video about the smallest rockets to get to orbit
love your stuff! you're the reason I got into ksp! 🖒🖖🤘
Scott has created a new type of rocket: single button to orbit
"Beer rocket fueeeeeeeeeel" - Scott Manley
beer rocket fuel is the most kerbal space program like thing i have ever heard
Nasa and the first orbital rocket be like:
*Am I a joke to you?*
Awesome video! I think that last plane would land better if you disabled the front wheel's brakes so that only the back wheels brake. It seems that the instability was from the rolling resistance of the wheels rather than aerodynamics.
*attaches a million control surfaces*
"Ho! It turns really harder"
That plane that rolled and landed upside down: If Jeb could get out of the cockpit and walk away, it was a good landing. Not a great landing (that's where you can use the plane again), but a good one.
As you can see, Kerbals first achieved Spaceflight by strapping a makeshift pod to a leftover ICBM
Speaking of seeing you on other channels, it was great to see you on Door Monster!
"For once I have a plan."
-As cunning as a fox who's just been appointed Professor of Cunning at Oxford University?
you can chance the start trust to 100% in the setings
KSP 2 comes out.
Scott Manley: One click to nearest star system and back.
i usually put a launch escape system on my rockets despite it being in sandbox where i don't need to worry about a few kerbals going missing mysteriously after launch.
GO TO THE MOON IN A CLICK PLZ.
That plane looks a bit like one of Rutan's designs. XD
The game with wings thing requires the user/gamer to take a series of pics of the thing they want wings on and the game figures out how it flies (or doesnt). You can imagine the pets that people will take pix of so they can fly them. Also, rule 34.
I want to thank scott. Because when he mentioned rocket fuel beer I googled it and now I found a new beer im gonna try called Rocker fuel
Scott in game settings you can change the starting throttle.
Bring a KSP spacecraft into Orbit wit a single button!
Me: impossible!
Scott (5 min later): I did it on my first try!
Scott van der Manley: I have a plan, Arthur! We need to launch a rocket to TAHITI!!!
Arthur Kerman: But Scott...
Scott van der Manley: We. Need. More. THRUST!! Have some faith!!
go to the mun and back using 1 click (free return trajectory) you are allowed to deploy parachutes in atmosphere.
I thought I was gonna see a one click SSTO spaceplane. *That* would have been impressive!
5:13 Haha! Unbelievable! :D
Next video: Return trajectory to the moon with one click!
St. Manley, the patron saint of Kerbals.
Oh, I thot you was gunna say "A Lego powered Lego rocket"
1950 - We need to do a lot of math to launch a satelite into orbit, a lot of preparations, tons of instruments to controll whole state of a rocket in real time...
2017 - Well I tried to make self launching rocket without any means of automatisation, but it was too easy.
16:53 that is because of the engine placement you put them high up like a Learjet but that pushes you downwards! They are allergic to negative G's!
If anyone wants to know, the music was from Egmont Overture by Beethoven
Scott Spacebar Manley! :-D Always funny and educating to watch your videos!
"Totally dull to watch" Here i am watching 3 years later at 10 pm.
Hey use kerbals as parachutes as you reenter the atmosphere it saves on weight
Life lesson: If something is hard for Scott Manley, it'd be Impossible as hell to us...
I could see mun in 1 click.
You would have a big rocket and do a direct ascent to the mun.
on the nose there are small rockets facing backwards.
Put the small ones on their own tanks so they stay burning after the big one is done.
Hopefully with enough testing you could make the small engines slow the rocket enough.
You could also set the spacebar to multiple functions, so you could launch with full thrust and sas
Scott, try to launch one that lands back at the space center! It would be so great.
Scott, your next mission if you choose to accept it, get a mun encounter in one click ;P
You can actually do a reentry without an additional heat shield because the pod itself has a heat shield by default.
What was that bit you were talking about with the Hydraulic Press Channel?
Wish the mods could all keep up with the version releases
You can tilt a craft while building it?! :o
I had no idea until I saw this video! I always just hang a few extra tonnes worth of fuel tanks to the side i want the rocket to tilt towards, and then I eject them when it hits the right angle in flight. And then I hope that they wont hit any of my buildings. Just like when I launch rockets straight up and discard all of the stages at varying heights directly above the launch pad. I'm sure that's how real space agencies do it too.
Scott Manley - probably the only person in the world, who can fly a rocket just by staring at it.
wow you are a ksp god.god of kerbals like god of war
I wonder if doing the upside-down landing would be easier with the cockpit view or the locked chase camera. Instead of a normal landing with inverted controls it's trying to press yourself to a gray ceiling with backwards gravity.
Today on KSP: Scott builds a modern V2 to bomb London.
This dude getting things into orbit with one click while I can't do it with 100 panic ones
it's probably because they are panic ones
