- An arithmetic sequence is an ordered set of numbers that have a common difference between each consecutive term. For example in the arithmetic sequence 3, 9, 15, 21, 27, the common difference is 6.
An arithmetic sequence can be known as an arithmetic progression.
We have two arithmetic sequence formulas.
The formula for finding nth term of an arithmetic sequence.
an = a1 + (n - 1) d
The formula to find the sum of first n terms of an arithmetic sequence.
Sn = (n/2) [2a1 + (n - 1) d]
