What's so sad is the fact that this is the reason alot of bands don't want live broadcasts to be made public: a festival sound needs to be mixed afterwards for anyone who isn't at the actual festival. The best "festival" live video I've seen so far is Chelsea Grin - Hostage. Sure there's a backing track running and it has some FX added in post, but that's how it feels live.
actually go to the show if you want amazing sound, good sound mixing is hit or miss for videos. just be happy that they give people who don't get to go a way to watch parts of the shows.

jeremy sounds pretty good and is hitting every note. it's been a long lay off and they need to get back into the grove and i think he was conserving his energy bc he knew it was a longer set. and they look like their having a lot of fun so does that crowd omg is it massive. does your band play in front of that many people as well?
Because the mix is adjusted for a festival. Any good live set for youtube requires you to mix it completely different to the PA sound. That means you'd need to record every channel and give it a nice post treatment.
Marc Herzig how?.. this is pretty solid especially compared to the last time they were at reading and the BBC recorded their entire set. That recording sounded muddy as hell. This time you can quite clearly here what each of the instruments are doing and Jeremy sounds pretty great too?
This is main stage at one of the biggest festivals in the UK bro, unfortunately, most people there won't know ADTR. Come see them play on their tour and you'll take back that comment. UK has some of the greatest crowds

I was there and thought it sounded great. Their FOH engineer did a great job. The broadcast stream is a separate engineer mixing it. Obviously a quick mix then get it up online. But yeah the broadcast doesn't sound as good as seeing them live.
