Thats the sound you get when you invest money into an acoustic. Taylor and Martin both make gorgeous sounding guitars, The strings they're using sound quite light 9s maybe 10s, but they're definitely steel.

I know I'm a little late to comment on this beautiful live performance. But anytime I hear his voice and how good it sounds in this genre it is the pinnacle of pop punk to me or certain songs that sound like that you know what I mean.
