Love your Ford. Our first tractor was an 8N with a loader and steel tracks, an aftermarket option for working in snow. We plowed a lot of snow with that little bucket and a three point blade. My brother still runs it today. Ours had the Sherman three ranges with the four gears so it could really go on the road…and we boys squeezed every mile out of it😊
Thanks Dave. I bet the tracks were a game changer. This was our snow plow/ loader tractor until we got the loader for the 630 which then ended up on a 520. It was used to clean out the lower barn because of the low clearance. Without power steering and live power, it was not a lot of fun to use either a loader. I eventually got my first skid steer and we retired the Ford from loader work and sold the loader.
She's a beauty, Gary!! I thought the 9N's were produced for a longer period and in far greater numbers. She'll be around for many more years. Thanks for sharing. - Rick
NNNIIIICCCEEE!!!!! Yep, those old N series tractors were everywhere. Always nice to hear some of the backstory of a tractor. Those guys did a great job getting the Ol' 9N tuned in to start with such little effort. Looking forward to seeing the buzz saw in action. Take care.
My Dad had a 8N when I was a kid, then we had a Farmall Cub , a Allis B then me and him got a 9N with the Sherman overdrive....Some one added running boards to yours, great idea. 9N was blue and gray, 2N was gray and the 8N was red and gray....We always call the old buzz saws, The Wheel of Death....Thanks Gary.
Thanks Brent. I think my Dad added those running boards. I can barely remember not having them. It was a little bit intimidating driving that in road gear with nothing between you and the road.
What an awesome tractor Gary! I really like the paint color scheme. Thanks for sharing the tractor’s history. Although very dangerous, that buzz saw is very cool. Looking forward to see it in action. Have a great week!
Nice tractor buddy. The first thing I noticed was the 8N colors. But she runs well! We had an 8N on the farm for a while. These small tractors sure changed the history of farming with the 3-point hitch systems. There have been a few fingers left in the dirt running those saws. ( or worse) Take care
The jokes are getting better 🙂 Very cool tractor and it is in great condition. Front hitches are a great idea, the tractor starts really well and it looks good with the saw installed
Thanks Joseph. My brother wants me to paint the big saw. I will but it is going to see a lot of use this year so it will wait til next season. Thanks for watching Joseph. Always enjoy hearing from you.
My Great Grandpa had a 9N with the half track setup. I never saw it with the tracks on. Only pictures. It was also repainted in 8N colors at some point. Also had the buzz saw. My cousin's son has it now and has restored it I hear but I haven't seen the final result.
The tractor looks cool and with the saw it looks awesome, can’t wait to see that saw in action. Thanks for sharing Gary and hope you have a blessed week my friend.
She looks awesome in that color scheme Gary, love this model. You have a great collection of tractors Gary👍🏻. I hope you’ll show us the saw in action 👍🏻. Have a great week 👍🏻🙋🏼♂️🙂🍻
Beautiful tractor Gary. Good for you for keeping the color scheme, it looks really nice👍 righty tighty lefty loosy..my industrial arts teacher taught us that in grade 10 😁👍 Thanks for sharing, really enjoyed the video, Ben
I thought the 2n, produced during WW2 was built with magnetos too. I think the concept was to conservematerials for the war effort. But then again Gary....I've been known to be wrong before. (-; Sweet buzz saw. I see your teeth are still in very good shape with the negative hook angle. When I get 'em in really bad shape tooth wise, I reshape the teeth to a positive angle. Some say that will jerk the wood out of your hands, but after 60+ years on them, I can say that is negligible at most. Great video, awesome tractor and a nice tip of the hat to your Dad.
Thanks Wendell. We had a local sharpen the blade the way you described. It cut good but there were several people having a fit about. The next round, they were all sharpened in this manner. I have 3 blades for this gal
Never had one on this one. I am thinking of making one. We got this used and I’m pretty sure that it had been taken off. The other thing is the exhaust blows underneath the tractor and out the rear. Also blowing sawdust in your face. Thanks for watching
Great video Gary. Nice tractor. And saw bench. 👍🏻. Not too far from 100 years old. Seems a little slow to start. 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 Just kiddin ya. 🤭🤭Starts great. All the electronic and fuel injected junk today don’t start as good as those old tractors. 👍🏻👍🏻👋👋 Have a good day Gary. Would be nice to see her sawing wood. Quick story. Went to Nova Scotia a few years ago to a plowing match. A buddy of mine there lent me his Ford 2N and two sod plow to plow with. I was the only non resident plower. 7 of us plowed. I some how won the match. The fella who lent me his came in fourth. He was using his Ford 8N. Boy his buddy’s give him quite a teasin about this Islander beating him. He still gets teased at times. 🤭🤭🤭
Cool story Noel. When starting this tractor, you almost can’t get your finger off the button quick enough. You don’t even hear it turn over. It just goes from off to running instantly. Pretty remarkable, I’d say Thanks for watching Noel I’m going to be hauling milk today again Have a great day Noel. Catch you later
How's she goin'? Gary that is one fine looking tractor even if it isn't red. LOL I'm glad you mention Harry Ferguson and the 3 point hitch. Of course Harry joined up with Daniel Massey and became Massey Ferguson!! And of course Daniel was a Canadian!! Great video Gary!! And those saws are dangerous but man will they cut wood!! Take 'er easy!!
It is amazing how many people think it was Henry Ford. He was in a partnership with Harry Ferguson. You are right Ed. It was Ferguson that came up with that design. That very same principle which is still used in today’s modern tractors. Ford lost that lawsuit. It seems to me that it was for $5 million. I will have to look it up.
Thanks Ed. People always seem to be careless and end up paying a hefty price. I have always had a healthy respect for these. PTO shafts too. Had a friend that tried crawling over one running grinding feed. Busted him up badly. He is lucky to be alive.

Good morning Sir Dave.
Great video Gary. Good to get it up and running
Thank you Gary, firstly I came out totally with another answer for 3x3, my answer was 9N and the second calculation was 1940
🤣🤣🤣
Good morning Jan.
Very cool piece of family history you have there Garry. Thanks for sharing, Mike.
Thanks for watching Mike.
Always glad to have you
What a great little tractor.
Thanks Louie! She sure is
That's some nice tractor, Gary. Even more nicer is the fact your dad used to own it.
Thanks Kenny. I appreciate that.

Very Nice Buz Saw I spend My Youth working on these 👍👍😇😇👌👌🍻🍻
Well you’ve done things right then Dave because you still have all your parts.
Well done!
She’s a beauty! Looking forward to seeing the saw at work
Good morning Brian. She will be put to use here shortly.
OUTSTANDING INFORMATIVE VIDEO SIR THAT YOU HAVE DONE 👌👌😇😇👍👍🍻🍻
Thank you Dave.
Morning Gary that’s one nice 8N hope we can fixed up our 3000 to look like brand new.
Thanks Colton
Nice old girl Gary 👍
Thanks Bob. I sure like having it.
Hope you have a great week Gary.
You too Louie.
I liked that joke Gary! I like the little tractor. Lisa's grandfather is in his 90s and still has one of them. Have a good day.
Thanks Mathew. It is good to find something to smile about in the times we live in.

Dave from Rolling Hills Farm had an interesting story about having one with tracks
Good morning, Gary! Outstanding video and a wonderful walk back through history!
Thanks John.
Several neighbors had N series. I don't remember 9, 2, or 8 anymore. Fun tractors. Thank you Gary.
It seems back in the day Bryce that just about every farm had one of these. Price point I would imagine.
The tractor looks cool and with the saw it looks awesome, can’t wait to see that saw in action. Thanks for sharing Gary and hope you have a blessed week my friend.
Thanks Tony. You shall be getting your wish granted before much longer
She looks awesome in that color scheme Gary, love this model. You have a great collection of tractors Gary👍🏻. I hope you’ll show us the saw in action 👍🏻. Have a great week 👍🏻🙋🏼♂️🙂🍻
Thanks Luc.
It won’t be long and you will be getting to see that massive saw ripping into some hard wood. 😀

Love the look of that tractor!
Good Morning Sir 👍👍😇😇👌👌🍻🍻
Good morning Dave!
My grain auger has 26 hp. Lol 😆. That tractor looks nice Gary 👍
Thanks Chad. These aren’t even close to being big enough to even be a chore tractor anymore
Hey Gary. It’s been a while. That’s a good looking tractor. She sounds really nice. Take care!
Thanks Justin
How have you been?
Haven’t heard anything from you in a good while.
It has been a busy winter UA-cam has taken a back seat for a few months but I am hoping to get back on track really soon.@@tractortalkwithgary1271

Interesting Mike. I didn’t know that Daniel Massey was Canadian. That’s good to know.

And... As you said, Harry came up with it. And Massey Ferguson ran with it.. as "The Ferguson System"..

As with anything else that spins.. you shouldn't be that close to it.. absolutely no reason to get any part of your body, within a foot of the blade..
