what's even worse apart from having such a demanding boss is that she doesn't ever raise her voice. Miranda uses a soft but commanding voice, she doesn't need to make herself understood or intimidating by raising her voice or losing her temper.r Her attitude says everything about who she is and as her employee you know you'd better do your job perfectly for her o.O hats off to the writer of the character and to Meryl Streep for her brilliant portrayal of Miranda Priestly. It's one of my favourite performaces by her.
Noelia Killjoy I saw an interview with Meryl Streep in which she discussed her choice to always speak softly. She said she had noticed over the years that the most powerful people she met never spoke above a certain volume--that they realized it's much more intimidating when they weren't screaming and yelling.
miranda knew she had the power, she didnt need to raise her voice to be heard and obeyed. that made her interesting and more imposing and threatening but also as the movie goes on you discover that she had to develop that person to remain at the top had she been any other way she would have been knocked down and left for dead a long time ago.

Honestly, this is what I thought first when I watched the movie. But a lot of things got cleared and made sense after I watched the deleted scenes. If you get to see the deleted scenes, there is the one that happens right after this, when Andy goes to CK and Miranda gives her a call and explains(rather, guides!) what she is actually supposed to do their step-by-step. The thing is she doesn't waste her time by giving instructions first and then see people returning for doubts or forgetting them altogether. She instructs to go on the way and guides at the right time when you reach the point where further instructions are actually required. Another example, she has so much to take care of that she doesn't waste here time and energy in remembering unimportant people. Instead she has a diary for her assistants who take care of that.
Miranda Priestly: 'This stuff'? Oh. Okay. I see. You think this has nothing to do with you. You go to your closet and you select... I don't know... that lumpy blue sweater, for instance because you're trying to tell the world that you take yourself too seriously to care about what you put on your back. But what you don't know is that that sweater is not just blue, it's not turquoise. It's not lapis. It's actually cerulean. And you're also blithely unaware of the fact that in 2002, Oscar de la Renta did a collection of cerulean gowns. And then I think it was Yves Saint Laurent... wasn't it who showed cerulean military jackets? I think we need a jacket here. And then cerulean quickly showed up in the collections of eight different designers. And then it, uh, filtered down through the department stores and then trickled on down into some tragic Casual Corner where you, no doubt, fished it out of some clearance bin. However, that blue represents millions of dollars and countless jobs and it's sort of comical how you think that you've made a choice that exempts you from the fashion industry when, in fact, you're wearing the sweater that was selected for you by the people in this room from a pile of stuff.

Everyone knows Anna would never wear all black
I use lines from this movie all the time, even some excellent ones you did not list...when my partner gives me too quickly a list of a ton of things to do, I just interrupt him by asking " Should I call Patrick as well ?" ...and instantly he gets he has been too far...
"Everybody wants to be us" is one of my favorites, though "Bore someone else with your questions" is also very useful.
This movie is a delight.
I just love your videos. Always fun.
"By all means, move at a glacial pace. You know how that shit thrills me bitch"
"By all means....MOOOOVVVEEEE at a GLACIAL PACE......you know how that Thrills me......" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH SLAYED!
2:53-2:55 She judged her hair, clothes, and shoes in 3 quick glances. Iconic
I plan my whole year around this😂😂🤣🤣🤣Jacqueline threw a mighty big shade.
In all honesty, I am Miranda when I have to deal with complete blatant stupidity at work. 😂😂😂😂
Same!
"I said to myself, 'hire the smart, fat girl'" LOL
"By all means, move at glacial speed..." classic La Streep with a lightning bolt 😂😂😂😂😂
"The Devil" Miranda Priestly vs "The Queen of Thorns" Olenna Tyrell in a shade contest...
I would like to see that.
And Edna Mode she makes clothes for superheroes that works for their powers.
So tired of people misusing the term “Shade.” It’s not shade if it’s right out front and obvious.
Meryl should play Tim Gunn.
god this roll really showed her acting skills it my favourite Meryl Streep performance by far!!
I love your videos......"thats all".
It was such an unrealistic demand for Miranda to expect Andy to get her on a plane flight through a hurricane. She can't expect people to move heaven and earth like that.
This literally deserves every single Oscar and other film award possible. Meryl is faultless and iconic
Why should Meryl get an Oscar for playing a bitch? This was no acting job on Meryl's part as being a bitch comes very natural to all women..they can pull out the bitch at a moment's notice.
"Don't be ridiculous, Everyone wants to be us!" Put on Sunglasses and a
Fake smile!' Favorite M.P. line! ♥️🎉
This movie just confirms that Meryl Streep is a genius.
First! Loving these videos ^^
"Has she died or something?" *unbothered*
Amazing actress
0:05 me giving my mom a perfect explanation of why I deserve to rest for a minute

I love everything she had on in this movie. This hair style fits her.
