Individual E34 540i gets Ground Control Coilovers +more!

- I've had my E34 for about 9 years and have been building it the whole time. Now, with all this free time in quarantine, I've been watching loads of build videos and I wanted to make some of my own.
Big thank you to my brother Sam for all his help working on the car, and special shoutout to the shop he works at, and I've been going to for years, Auto Couture Motoring in Fair Lawn NJ. Anyway - So these are GROUND CONTROL full coilers for my e34 540i 6 speed. The spring rates are 10k front and 8k rear as specified by me to GC.
I shot this video on my Sony A7sii with Sony 24-105 G lens and rode video mic pro, and a few clips on my iPhone as well.
Stay tuned because we'll be back at it again next week to install a new clutch, lightweight flywheel, and so much more.

GC makes some of the most exceptional suspension parts out there.. In my 94' 525i touring, I'm running the same setup but with a tender spring kit and street/track front strut mounts! As far as I know, there is no better choice other than the Ground Control.... 7.7K + 4.5k tender in front, and 5.6k + 3.58 tender in rear. I might opt for stiffer main springs in the future, planning on getting some track time in pretty soon.

next time you do suspension work, roll the car a couple feet so that the suspension can settle a bit between adjustment. the wheels will move further out and thus suspension will come down a bit, no?
Ultimately yeah it settled a bit and we knew it would, we were way off at first though! Gotta start somewhere.
Love the color! I impulsively bought a 540i/6 last year, PO did some nice things like 750il diff but left me with cut springs in the front so I'm in the market for coilovers. How is the stiffness in yours? I've been more worried about going too harsh than too soft
They ride great! Totally worth it

@@slightlypermafried if you’re planning on being this low- right on. If you aren’t hanging out an inch above the ground I’d probably take ground controls recommendation. They have great customer service. Send them an email

@@slightlypermafried idk about clearance. I run hub adapter spacers (for the hub centric portion) and I have slightly stretched tires so I’m not hurtin for clearance.
@@vanheestvisual I've patched my exhaust once already, so maybe another inch higher lol but I'll definitely talk to them first before making a final choice. And I forgot you had coilovers on already so there wasn't a comparison in tire clearance. I'll find out soon, thanks!

What tire size do you have on your 10" wide rear wheels?
believe it or not they are 235/40, this brand must run a little big. when its time for new tires I plan to beef it up a bit though
@@vanheestvisual they look good for 235s actually. i have 255s on my 9.5" rears & they kinda look streched.
So im planning to find & do test fit if a used 265/40 will not rub... ✌️
What caliper do you have on the bad boy.
The fronts are 4 pot e31 brembo and the rear is stock e34 👌
Why the e31 lower control arms? I have a 95 530i 5spd.
The e34 lower control arms come with a rubber bushing, where as the e31 variants are the same size but come with a spherical bushing. This is also why I installed spherical bushing in the upper control arm (from moose head engineering). The spherical bushings 💪

Thanks! No love for the DTM magnaflow tips? I love watching old DTM racing videos and the upturn tips match the bumper line so well.... but you’re right, one day soon I hope to have a super sprint exhaust 😍

@@bavarianbaron Haha totally. Thanks dude! I have a photo album of all the photos from when it underwent it's big surgery. I plan to make that into a slideshow video soon so I can keep all the e34 stuff in one place here on my UA-cam page. It was a real big "while we're in there" kind of project, ha!
