I can’t imagine how she must have felt. She lost a child and then to be accused of killing her own 9 month old. And at 17 years old and the fact it’s a racially charged crime must have just made it so frustrating
She gave birth at 16/17, then her child died before her eyes. After that, she gets accused of murdering her beloved son and gets sent to jail. No funeral, no person to talk to, not even freedom. Also, she has the fact in the back of her mind that she will die here, killed by the biased and racist judges. Finding out she was exonerated must have been the most relief she's ever felt. I hope that judge rots in hell.
+ZXRO But being mean will not benefit you in any sort of way, so I suggest you stop it. I am just a nine year old and I apologise if my grammar isn't the best.
Can we please just think about this for a second. Her already sick child stopped breathing. AS A MINOR, she did what she knew - following the instruction of someone else. She performed CPR in desperation to save her baby not knowing that she was performing the wrong CPR. Then after an unjust trial, she spent 6 and a half years in prison just to be released and treated like any other ex felon until 2012. Like I'm honestly confused how any prosecutor would have the heart to bring Sabrina to court and watch her get sent to prison. It really makes you wonder what's wrong with the American Justice System. They let OJ Simpson walk free and put people like Sabrina on Death Row.
Remember that white cheerleader who killed her child after she gave birth and buried the baby in the backyard. She was found not guilty. This poor women wanted to save her baby and got put on death row...... wow ridiculous
This gave me chills. The children having more common sense that those who are supposed to be serving "Justice". My heart also broke for Sabrina. She's just one of those falsely accused. And the reality is that not all of those falsely accused became free. Some may still be in prison. Some may be dead already since their innocence were not proven. Life can be unjust.
Many innocent people have died and will never be proven innocent. Many murderers never spent a week of their lives in jail. I knew one myself. Justice is so rare.
It’s because kids aren’t born naturally hating certain people. Those people were TAUGHT to hate certain people. Nature vs nurture. Luckily, things are trying to get better nowadays.
This was so interesting. I really like how this series sheds light on "taboo" issues and brings it to children in an appropriate way. (Thanks for so many likes! I never get any lol so this is exciting)

I have no children of my own, I don't have an education in child rearing in any form, much less in paedagogics. I watch these videos because it shows how to address certain "taboo" issues in an appropriate way and let me tell you, the kids in my class discuss some heavy stuff sometimes.

I don't know WHO she spoke to on the phone for help, but i really really really hope that it wasn't a 911 operator. they should know the difference between adult and pediatric cpr
It probably was a 911 operator... the amount of cases that get mishandled because of bad 911 service makes me sick. Specially because most could’ve ended with better results if they did their job right... clearly not everyone is mean to help people like that
She was so respectful of the children and she’s gone through so much. I’d never be able to be as kind as her especially going through trauma like that. Kudos,
This brought me to tears. I am not surprised that it was racially charged but it absolutely breaks my heart. I don’t know what to say, just glad she got exonerated and I really hope she lives the rest of her life to the fullest. America needs change and for those who are blind enough to not see that, need to open their eyes. Racial oppression still exists.
I agree that the system need to be mended. But her interrogation technic was common in every country. What she need was a lawyer. And I can't say it was race related, had white jury didn't mean it was racial thing. Or do you think black people is only allowed to have black jury too? Just asking. ✌🏻
Truly amazing how she is able to talk about everything she went through with such composure. Such a strong woman. Hopefully times have changed and continue to improve so innocent people don't get punished.
2:00 I have taken two classes of CPR before, so I know the difference between adult and infant CPR.. I feel so horrible for her, because there is a MAJOR difference in the two.. I can't imagine the grief she must have, she only tried to protect her baby. Please please please, everyone out there, try and educate yourself on infant, child, and adult CPR; I really don't want to make her situation in a life lesson or whatever, but I want you to learn from it as well.
@@redsirwe If you know CPR you can easily modify it to do infant CPR. Infant CPR is two fingers on the chest on the mid-line between the nipples, press about 1 1/2 inch down and when doing breaths only use the breaths in your cheeks. It's the same as adult CPR but with less pressure applied.
totallt agree. I’m certified in both infant and adult CPR and that is what’s terrifying; they wouldn’t hear her side of the story. many people aren’t certified nor educated in CPR training and she was nearly put on death row solely because of that.
Sometimes even when you know the training, you don't know how you will react in those kinds of situations. And for a 17 year old, most wouldn't really know how to do CPR let alone CPR on an infant. Its sad this wasnt taken into account. It shows the gap that needs to be filled within the education system. I'm from Australia, and from what I know it is an issue here, lack of first aid education.
I found this comment online, from this women called Stephanie and I really wanted to share this: Stephanie: I find that many people claiming to be Christians are ok with the death penalty. I ask them about people who have been falsely convicted? They often say “That doesn’t really happen”. I respond “Sure it does. You know who the most famous innocent person killed by the death penalty is”? “Who”? “Jesus....and you would have been at the base of the cross yelling “Crucify him”. They look at me stunned. Often they reach up and gently grasp the cross on their necklace.
@@evieg7369 "Very clearly guilty" is something that rarely happens (if ever). Defendants, witnesses, police, attorneys, etc. can all lie, so it's basically impossible to be 100% sure. Death is the ultimate sentence and justice is a subjective concept, so I don't think the first can ever guarantee the latter.
@@evieg7369 Also, even if Jesus had to die for a prophecy to be fulfilled, it doesn't mean that the people involved in killing weren't being unfair with him. The purpose of that injustice to happen was that we didn't do the same unto other people. "Whoever is free of sin, cast the first stone".

This woman is extremely lucky. Thank god she was able to be released and proven innocent to avoid undeserving death. Unfortunately though there are cases where the person isn’t as lucky. Cameron Todd Willing, a father of three young kids, was wrongfully convicted of the death of his children. He fought and claimed he was innocent until his death ordered by the court. It wasn’t until 2011, could have been sooner but the court delayed his investigation wether to see if he was truly innocent or not, he was proven innocent. We took a loving father away from this world and treated him like a monster when he himself was grieving for his children. If one person wrongfully dies cause the death penalty, it clearly shows that this system is flawed. One person is too many.
@@ezracalderon1759 They were killed in a house fire which prosecutors blamed Cameron for intentionally starting. Cameron was called by psychiatrists an "extreme and severe sociopath" because they found 'Iron Maiden' and 'Led Zeppelin' posters in his house (yes, literally just cause of that) so they believed he was obsessed with death. It wasn't till years later that the Texas Forensic Commission Panel said that flawed science was used in this case along with outdated theories used by the investigators to justify their conviction

@@bacon8353 oh God, the Liberals are back. I don't think any of it was based on racism at all. More white people are on death row than black people (reckon, the difference is only one or two percent, but black people commit crimes often). White privilege isn't a thing at all, and people are treated equally. Just because a white person says you did something and it ended up not being true, it doesn't automatically mean that they're racist. Yeesh.
I'm astonished by how she stayed true to herself and managed to grow because of her experience. I would have gone crazy... I feel so sorry for her. Such a fierce lady!
I cant imagine the level of trauma Sabrina's had to face at the hands of the US legal system. Losing your child with no chance to grieve, immediately charged with something too heinous to even comprehend, spending 6 years in isolation fearing getting murdered by paid government officials. Losing everything you had on release and having to wait years for financial support. Yet shes still here telling her story! Death penalty is truly evil
The Death Penalty isn't evil. The Death Penalty is a fair punishment for anyone who has murdered somebody. The problem is when people make a decision without enough evidence. Innocent until proven guilty, there was not enough evidence to convict her but they decided it anyway.
@@ivanvenne It's not evil, but it's not right. If even just a *single* person who committed no crime can get the death penalty, then there's a problem with the death penalty. If that person is killed and posthumously proven innocent, you can't take that punishment back. It's simply not fair. An irreparable punishment is not fair.
@@freezerounds But those desicions where innocent people get the death penalty happen when truly there is not enough evidence to convict them yet. If the court were to wait for more evidence before convicting them than the death penalty will be right. We just need to find a way to do this.
@@ivanvenne No, I don't think we do. The justice system simply isn't perfect, and the evidence doesn't always tell the true story. The justice system is about punishing the guilty, yes, *but it's also about protecting the innocent.* Part of that is making sure the innocent are protected from the justice system itself. No criminal punishment should be irreparable, because *every* story is subject to change. An inability to change a criminal's punishment is a *failure* of justice. As for the death penalty itself, we can never be *completely* certain for *every case* that the person being put to death is guilty. The *mere existence* of the chance that an innocent person could be wrongly *executed* is already a failure of the justice system.
Poor woman, she didn't just lose her child, she must have felt guilty the way he died. And then they didn't only blame her and abuse her young fearful moment to get her in jail, but also got her on death row. I would have gone mad
God that must’ve been so hard. You lose your baby after trying your best to save his life and then you’re accused of hating him, murdering him, causing his pain. Then you’re locked up. I can’t even imagine that.
Isn’t everything a crime nowadays? I’m not saying that those things don’t have a part in it but each specific thing said here apples to everyone as well. Poor people are blamed for everything, blacks are targeted for no reason, single parents (more often mothers) are criticized for how they raise their children, and I’m going to quote something for the teen one: “Society nods it’s head at every horror the American teenager can think of to bring upon themself” -Jason “J.D” Dean, Heathers (1988)
@@manicpixiedreamhurl03 Blacks are not targeted for no reason. Hop off the bandwagon and actually think for a second. When the news outlets say "Unarmed Black Man shot by Racist Cop" and show a 10-second clip of the cop shooting the dude with no context it's stupid and they're doing their job, disrupting the public's eye of anyone in law enforcement. Look up Donut Operator on YT, ex-cop and breaks down several shootings a week
Connor Giadrosich what? Cops have nothing to do with this. Black people especially black men are targeted in the prison system. A black man is five times more likely to be falsely accused and convicted of a felony crime than a white man or woman. Black men and women where also being sold into the prison system for years, a U.S judge was caught selling young black children, men, and woman into privet prisons so that they could be used as slaves.

Nice name
Rip😥😥😥😥😇😇😇😇😇😇🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
@RINGER yes

Sickz it has everything to do with racism
I don’t think it was racism I think it was the climate of the situation
I hope she got lots of hugs from the kids, I would have given her a big hug while listening to her speak

Not
Racially motivated is not a thing
So basically it's a crime to be a poor, young, black teenaged single mom. 🙁 f'ing sad.
Isn’t everything a crime nowadays? I’m not saying that those things don’t have a part in it but each specific thing said here apples to everyone as well. Poor people are blamed for everything, blacks are targeted for no reason, single parents (more often mothers) are criticized for how they raise their children, and I’m going to quote something for the teen one:
“Society nods it’s head at every horror the American teenager can think of to bring upon themself” -Jason “J.D” Dean, Heathers (1988)
So tell me how black people aren’t targeted at least in the United States?
Connor Giadrosich They ARE targeted for no reason, cops go into Black men’s yards and accuse them of not living there because they are black it’s sad

I’m amazed at this woman’s strength and that she was able to talk about it! I inspire her so much! ❤️
This is so heavy..
I can't imagine having a baby and losing him despite efforts to save him, and then being not only accused but put on death row
went to buy her book and it was sold out .I wish continued success to this strong soul ❤️
What's her book called?
Sadie Lanah “exonerated : a Sabrina butler story” I think
Same! I even looked on Amazon and a few other places who sell books and it looks like her website is the only place that sells it because i couldnt find it anywhere. Hopefully it restocks soon.
