This was a really good video because it gives me a good starting point on what to buy to set up a smart home automation set up.

Concerned about the glitches I've been hearing about but not experienced as I think hue has matter as a redundancy? I dunno. Does it? Might be out of my tech knowledge.

Don’t like Wyze? They have colored bulbs, plugs, and deadbolt.

I'm swapping all my smart bulbs out for smart light switches. Yeah, I'll be losing out on the ability to change colours and dimming, but I'll take that over years of having to remind people to keep their fingers off the existing dumb switches.

Phillips hue is worth it. Works every time. Cync was my first lights and took them back. They sucked- outright the worst. Govee sucks. Too bad hue is on back order for the outdoor strips like crazy. I went with govee for my outdoor lights for this reason. Have them on a timer.. and btw. It is connected to WiFi but it doesn't like any other systems and drops left and right. It wants you to buy more govee to act as a network mesh I guess? So I have them disconnected from google home completely. 👎 Now they stay connected to wifi 🤣 Its not a big deal as they are patio lights used only at night and auto turn on but it would be nice to have it connected to google home. Not just for automation but ease of use when I want it. Like the hue ecosystem. Totally fail proof. Even when my internet goes out I can still control it from my phone. It has NEVER FAILED ME MAN. knock on wood.

I have to admit. I do have a fear with these updates that hue will go full on sonos and destroy my smart home investment. Ive got their whole ecosystem. Sonos... Oh my. What have you done? I lusted after all of their products but went cheapo sony with literally Bluetooth and an optical.

That was a program and you had to opt in. Unless your electric company is just doing it. That was a rush hour program where they adjust your home temperature and will give you a reimbursement on electric bill.

Amazon Alexa is the best for home automation, it has the most skills,.
Also, Google can't add a device to more than 1 room or group; example: kitchen and family room are adjacent to each other and I want the lights in both room to turn
off if I say all, as well as independently turning off either room.
Alexa is inexpensive so I bought 8 to equip every room with Amazon Alexa for voice control so that I can just ask 'turn off the lights' and the echo in that room
knows to turn off those lights and not other lights in the house.

I would not recommend Google or Nest products to anyone. My experience has found them to be unreliable, buggy and Google don't fix the bugs which are reported.
