Off topic but i would love to see you do a video about genshin’s endgame content and compare it to Honkai Impact 3rd’s endgame. I’m real curious to hear your opinion.
Cheap to build, efficient to optimize. That's honestly how I would define Bennett. He literally can make do with the dregs of whatever leftover resources you can throw at him, but if you ever take the moment to focus on him and optimize his build, Bennett is bouken de broken. Seriously, there's no loss in investing in Bennett. A support Bennett with barely any artifacts, a leveled weapon, and a somewhat invested Burst talent is serviceable, yeah, but once you move on the part of the game where you have the excess Mora and mats to throw around, you can build your Bennett into a DPS and benefit from it even if you don't play him any differently.
I'd say one downside to DPS Bennett is that building him as such can hurt his healing, due to it being scaled off his HP. Building him for damage means you're not maximizing his HP, which means his healing can suffer. And in the current era of corrosion, you can have issues with his healing not being enough. Of course, this problem is easily solved by keeping around a second artifact set for him. While this would be a daunting task for most characters, Bennet literally just needs HP% and nothing else so you can give him the random garbage you have laying around and maximize everything but his personal damage. Even in the only way DPS Bennett falters, as you said, it's efficient to optimize.
This! Bennett is amazing at providing value with little input. I've had him c1 since AR 15 and tossed a Rancour on him, at AR 45 I gave him some leftover HP% junk from Noblesse strongbox. Now at AR 56 I'm finally thinking about maybe adding some more damage focused pieces on him and upgrading Passion Overload to see if he can be not only healer and buffer, but sub-DPS at the same time (while still on 4 noblesse, it's just too useful). I recently upgraded to Alley Flash which has stats he actually can use for damage together with the high base ATK. What makes Bennett different from someone like Diona (aside from the ATK steroid) is that Diona is locked into a defensive role, but Benny has the potential to deal high damage, without sacrificing his primary purpose.
@@Superflaming85 bennett doesn’t need any hp stat at all. His healing is already good enough if you don’t get a big hit. If your bennett is level 80-90 and talent level is high, your bennett will have no problem healing your team
I find it funny that at the start of the game people thought bennett was bad. I remember watching some streamers play and they got bennett and asked if he was good and her friend said he was meh.
Videos made before were based on day 1 or week at most of the release. Everyone who though bennett was bad was because he IS bad at low AR without access to 5* artifacts. Low ER means no burst for healing, low character level & weapon meant little to no ATK boost, and that's why Qiqi and Barbara were pretty good units before.
META players that day , compairing him to Diluc . We know that they have different roles each other but they still ignoring him along with Xingqiu, Sucrose and Xiangling.
I have a head cannon that Bennett buffs the entire team not because it has the ability to do so. But they just find his positivity endearing and a joy to be around with, so when he cheers everyone on it's like they have to do it or else it'll feel like they let good ol' Benny Boi down.
not really if you did build him badly, unless you build him as burst support, if you try dps with him i highly doubt it as he needs high invesment for that more so than others xd
Bennett is just an overall well built character that will NEVER get powercrept. His energy generation, with healing, and massive attack buffing paired with his non negligible damage makes him a staple in gameplay. Also he's got a great personality and funny backstory to boot. Giving him a thumbs up, just like he does!👍🔥
If there was a new 5* who did the exact same things for same investment, my first thought wouldn't be to ditch him for the new character. It would be that I can now have two of him in Abyss at once.
And as a five star that would probably not be on standard banner and even if it was it would be harder to get by the general player base so bennett would still be more cost efective
Actually that would be an abomination... And if that happens... I don't be surprised if said 5 star is an alternate version of Bennett. Just in Honkai Impact with the alternate versions of the character. So that way you can only put one of them actively.
Bennett's existence does makes me curious on how they will ever top him off, specifically the pyro archon. I know the memes of Bennett basically being the pyro archon, imagine if the pyro archon ends up being worst than Bennett, it doesn't even have to be a bad kit, just maybe worst supportive or lesser DPS potential, she'd be mocked the hell. I told a non genshin player friend of Bennet's kit and tell them that the character who owns it is a god in game and they believe it just from the sheer power. Murata might need to watch her back when she comes along.
I would imagine a berserker kind buff she would give to the team. Instead of a circle, it’ll follow the active character like Gorou’s doggo. Buff would be atk and def based on her stats. But that would greatly affect many of existing def scaling characters (Itto/Noelle). Too OP.
Bennett have the benefit of being more accessible. Murata would eventually rotate out of the banner, while Bennett will always be in the summoning pool and rotate into the shop. And being Natlan, Murata will need Natlan mats while Bennett is easier for newer players to build (Mondstadt+Liyue), thus more resource and tine effective.
The reason why Bennett is so widely used is because of the many things he is capable of. Firstly, he can heal, which is helpful in game, especially in floor 12 where the enemies have the power to one shot you. Secondly, he buffs your attack which basically means he buffs your damage. Buffing damage is unique in Genshin (at the time of this comment being written). There aren’t many characters who can buff damage in this game, and it is a very valuable component in a team to have. Thirdly, he can battery. Pyro carries such as Diluc could use some energy to get his burst on CD every rotation, and Bennett can help create that energy. Bennett’s elemental skill has a short cooldown already, but inside his burst, it’s even shorter, allowing you to funnel energy CONSISTENTLY. Lastly, he does good damage. His scalings aren’t bad for a support character, allowing him to potentially be a Sub DPS. Bennett is also immune to power creep as he has a unique kit. Hoyo can’t really make a better Bennett, because we will always love you, Benny Boi.
Very few enemies in Abyss 12 can actually one-shot you. In fact, Bennett burst actually helps one of the few that does (Maguu Kenki) by giving him a damage buff via melt. Of course, this means that Bennett's healing is very helpful since the many instances of medium 2k-6k damage you take gets healed back in quick order. Also, damage buffs in Genshin isn't actually rare. There's an entire class of characters (catalyst) that can do this with a cheap 3* book (Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers), in fact. And there's many scattered artifacts that give ATK bonuses (Noblesse, TotM). There are buffers for elemental % damage, EM, defense debuffers, res debuffers, and all sorts of other damage-enhancing supports in addition to other ATK buffers with more restricted uses. There are also plenty of more specialized buffers, like Yun Jin or Gorou, that also can make a large impact in the right teams. Bennett's claim to fame is just how large his buff is in comparison to some of the alternatives, how easy it is to use, and how generalized it is. Also, how it comes packaged with healing and energy generation and a non-dependence on artifact stats (so he can freely run stuff like Instructors if you wish, and comes online with minimal investment).
"Imagine if we had 2 Bennetts"- Bennett and Sara do exactly that for electro team comps! Raiden and Raiden/Yae teams love her, although snapshot mechanics make other Electro DPS prefer Bennett just a tiny bit more if they had to pick one.
When the game came put I heard he was "unlucky" and had a hard time keeping friends. I decided to adopt him because uwu, but didnt manage to pull him until the first time he was in the shop. It wasn't until then I also learned he was OP.
Here's an initial reception story from myself: I remember playing my first week of Genshin and going to the subreddit for information like: "I got all the guaranteed ones + Bennett and Ningguang, so... how screwed am I?". Little did I know I had gotten a ticket to the finish line.
Bennett will most probably never get powercrept but I'm pretty sure hoyo will keep going forward with making him less required or something to that effect. Niche supports like gorou is one good example since he's basically a Bennett for anyone who scales purely on defence like albedo. Another way as mentioned are characters like Yelan who don't scale of ATK. So yeah you can use Bennett with Yelan and albedo but its definitely much better to use someone else with them and put Bennett on the other half/second team of we are talking abyss.
They might powercreep his damage buffing in some way but the problem is that only Gorou has actually been successful in doing that so far. If you think about the other characters like Sara and maybe even Shenhe, they are just straight worse than Bennett both due to their wonky mechanics or durations of their buffs. That may also be why the next attack/damage buffer might actually be better than Bennett though...otherwise no1 will want to roll for them and will just wait to get them as they roll for the 5*s months later. Now if Sara had a 12 second buff duration and buffed the whole party, or if Shenhe didn't have a very small limit on the quills, they might have seen a lot more use and hype from content creators. Instead, we saw like Ayaka C6 showcase with Shenha...or like Raiden showcase with C6 Sara and Bennett and they were just unrelatable.
@@MrPsychopathy I agree with sara not being a very good replacement for bennett as really only at C6 is she competitive and she's usually used in conjunction with bennett. However Shenhe isn't really a replacement for bennett, she rather competes with cryo supports/sub dps' since freeze teams don't include bennett. Also yunjin is a somewhat successful bennett replacement, she fully replaces him in yoimiya teams but that's her real only usecase.
If you look at his kit. Hoyoverse design him to be a sub DPS with decent support abilities. But accidently makes make him overpowered support because underestimated how much base atk scaling does. Is pretty funny. Hoyoverse design him to be 4 star sub DPS with some atk and heal support. End up being an overpowered energy battery, moderate healing, sub-dps, pyro infuse and increase, extremely high damage boosting one man party.
how do they accidentally make him overpowered? the community made this trash character "overpowered" and overrated for no reason. He would be a 5 star if he was actually good. Explain why qiqi and aloy are literal 5 stars lmao
as Dendro rolls in in the upcoming months all we need is a single unit which self-infuses the active character with Dendro (Tighnari and Collei both have Dendro field effects but it is unknown if they self-inflict Dendro or not) and we can have the Vermillion dream alive with Bennet self-burning the DPS for atk buff, now everyone can be Xiao
There's the alley flash 4 stars sword that gives 620 attack, that's more than some 5 stars so it works great on him as long as you stack a lot of ER on his artifacts
I remember back in 1.2 when I first played and got Bennett, I rlly loved how adorable he looked and I immediately placed him on my team without understanding his kit lol But man when I found out how useful and op he actually was, i was so happy 😭💛
Honestly my lv1 Bennet haven't seen the light of day, I lucky got Fishel in beginner pulls and now my main choices are shogun, Jean, shene, yanfei, Fishel and zhong. With a geo team in works
"He got a good amount of exposure in the second dragonspine story quest" Me who started genshin in January: hahahaa yeah.. the dragonspine stories yeah.. right
I personaly find bannet's gameplay kind of boring, so I dont use him that much, but every time I get stuck in any dps check, there is only one old reliable
His only problem is when you get him late. I didn't get Benny until after I got several other units that facilitated different playstyles. Ningguang, Gorou, Yun Jin, Yelan, Kazuha, Beidou all came before I got Benny, which meant I ended up with a Tazer team and a Geo Hypercarry *BEFORE* I had the time to invest into Benny, which meant by the time I got him . . . //I didn't need him?//
Dont worry u have two solid teams and u like playing them so u don't really NEED to build him👍 play who u like👍 for example i run healar Yanfie cus she is super cute and Bubbley even if she is not a meta option hahah😅😅
He may only heal up to 70% but honestly his heal ticks are so fast that's hardly a con, unless some character releases who deals extra damage with full hp or something like that. He generates energy insanely well, super low cooldown and high chance to get 3 particles. He even cleanses too. And of course the massive attack buff which is probably his most important asset. It's next to impossible to nerf bennet for the current cast other than of course making a unit that powercreeps him, but that's not happening ever or at least anytime soon. What they could do is instead make more characters that have high attack to begin with so bennet matters less for them. They have already made a few of them, hu tao who boosts her attack to really high amounts via her E (and has additional anti synergy with bennet because she looses her below 50% hp 33% pyro dmg bonus) and Itto who converts his really high defense and adds it to his attack. What they could and probably will do is keep making more characters who have really high attack to begin with or just have an atk steroids ability like Itto and hu tao. We are probably not getting many more characters like raiden and xiao again because those characters receive massive dmg dealt bonuses in their kit so bennet actually buffs their output even more than most characters. Bennet is a mistake of mihoyo (xiangling and xinqiu too for that matter) and they fully know it and are absolutely malding every second for sure that he was able to get away from beta as strong as he is but they can't nerf him directly because that is a one way ticket to the bottom of the app store page for a gacha game. Their only choice is undirect nerfs like making more and more characters who synergise not as well with him such as hu tao and itto. Or ones that don't synergise at all like yelan.
I mean you're on the right video. Bennett's personal damage in a carry team is not that far behind Diluc. While giving multiple party members 1,1k more attack. You do need c6 and an EM sans though.
@@Neucher eh I don't think they are awfully comparable as DPS units. Bennett has no where near Diluc's aoe and crowd control abilities in his burst, and Diluc's skill is much more versatile, can be animation cancelled and weaved into normal attacks, has 3 charges and can dragonstrike.
bennett was my first ever main back in 1.0 just bc i liked his character so much, i remember having to argue with my friends every day to say that bennett is good! and that was before i even understood what his burst did i just lliked him so much i was ready to defend him from anything lmao
The summary is: He´s broken. Can do a bit of everything, and does it all great. His only weakness would be not having range... and that doesn´t matter in Genshin.
I love Bennett. I started playing Genshin because of him. I like his gameplay, I like his story, I like his design. he's cute and I see a kindred spirit in him. at the moment, this is still the only character I love very much. Yes, I like Venti, Ayaka, Sucrose and many others, but... the love for Bennett is much stronger than for them
I started playing genshin really late. When I started, Bennett was in shop and I managed to buy him. He has been invaluable since then. One of my best assets. Helped me a lot as a new player. He heals, buffs other's ult, he is like ALL IN ONE pack. Oh and btw, its quite ironic that how lore wise he is supposed to bring misfortune to everyone with him while as a char he is one of the best support.
Something I love about Bennett is that, on top of everything else he knocks out of the park, he's also a super fun character to play as in co-op! A lot of Genshin's characters, especially its supports, have a huge issue of being a bit boring to play in co-op because of how they have a lot of innate downtime as you're designed to switch off of the character. Xingqiu, Yelan, Kokomi, Gorou, Diona, etc. Most of the supports you'd love to see in co-op are boring as sin to play because nobody wants to stand around for ages normal attacking with a wet noodle while you wait for cooldowns. Bennett is one of the biggest exceptions to this, since his passives lower the cooldown on his E to the point it's basically another basic attack button! (That's also applying a ton of Pyro for the Ganyu in your party) And if you really want to have fun, you can build DPS Bennet for co-op, since his artifacts don't matter to his attack buff. This WOULD hurt your party's healing...except that since all 4 characters are on the field at once, the only issue Bennett has with his healing (that it's only single-target normally) isn't an issue! So in other words, co-op Bennett becomes even more broken than he already is! God, I love our broken as hell unlucky shounen protagonist. From a gameplay perspective, he's my favorite character in the game.
Yelan doesn't have a lot of innate downtime. Between her E and how it recharges barbs, and the duration of her burst versus its recharge, she only has a minor gap. Unless you don't have enough ER, anyway. Her being fun to play on field is one of her best traits. And one I wish Yae Miko had. Also, would disagree on Kokomi. She's hydro and a catalyst user, which means she adds a lot of value to the team just due to that. With the clam set, and her burst refreshing the duration of her JF, she keeps up the 30k+ per 3s. Her high hp combined with her healing means you also can just honey badger it. Doesn't really matter what the enemies are doing. Not that she's perfect. Really wish she could move the JF, especially when you're doing something like Raiden in co-op and you have that one person that wants to stay at range, thereby causing her to move a lot more than if they'd just get in close. That said, it does hold true for a lot of others. And another thing in Bennett's favor is that he tends to work with just about everybody. A character like Sucrose, who is probably built for high EM, on the other hand, needs the right elements on the team and to have them applied often enough. So she sees little use, even though she's less annoying to be teamed with than Venti is for many characters (though obviously, Venti's burst has a far bigger impact for the characters who can hit the flying enemies easily). Though co-op does have a tendency to shine a light on Bennett's one big limitation. That being the relatively small AoE on his burst. If a domain co-op team doesn't include Kazuha or Venti, well, many domains have enemies rather spread out.
YES! Exactly this too. I feel like co op meta or enjoyability isnt talked enough lol. Agreed with everything you say, bennett feels way better to play in coop than others like you mentioned, and thats coming from a freeze and mono geo main lol
I think his constellation 6 should've been part of his kit from the get go, it would still have made him powerful but he wouldnt be on every fucking team and i'm so tired of seeing his face sometimes
Bennett's C6 is so good; it kind of blows my mind that it's still a hot issue. There are so many more examples of how a pyro infusion actually improves damage output than there are where it ruins a major meta comp.
His energy needs, or rather lack there-of, is also something worthy of praise. Most supports like Diona usually require having another member of the same element to fund for their burst but Benny doesn't. just an ER sand sprinkled with a few substats will let him fund for his own burst and cast it on CD with little to no outside help, which is imo the main reason why he is so "plug-and-play"!
Diona doesn't need teammates to give her energy... SHE'S the one giving others energy. It's literally the same as Bennett in this point, arguably better since you don't need to switch in. This is why Eula and Ayaka teams often run Diona: They really like the energy.
@@byeguyssry yeah fr point isn't wrong but diona is such a bad example cuz she's not just a battery, she's a whole fuckin power plant. they should've mentioned thoma or qiqi or barbara or xiangling or beidou
3 simple things Heal: everyone needs it Buff damage: everyone needs it and apply pyro to yourself: For cleansing and sometime is the key ingredient for double swirl for kazuha team
Many still argues with that and some are way too pressed on c6 bennett, i mean if you count physical teams especially eula, even with that pyro infusion is such a hassle to her, she still pack a punch because how ridiculously high her normal atk scaling and it does not affect her burst(most of her teams are less likely to have bennett on it since she benefits alot on superconduct from yae, raiden, fishcl, e traveller, beidou) and even with ayaka i don't have issues on it since i cant melt my elemental skill tho
Bro, i swear to god, you or your editor know that Fire Emblem Awakening has one of the most awesome music in the franchise, and you use it almost flawlessly. Great work as always.
I think you did a good job summarizing Bennetts importance overall in this video. Great that you mentioned there are HP scaling characters for example who don't necessarily want him in their team (I feel like the most obvious characters are Yelan for her pure HP scalings and Albedo for his pure DEF skill scaling). However there are a couple of things that bugs me a bit. For starters I'd say Sucrose and Fischl is in the same top tier of four stars as Bennett, Xingqiu and Xiangling (ofc it depends on what reactions you're going for, but I really don't think this is a hot take). A statement that really caught me off guard however, was "... But nowadays I believe everyone has reached the conclusion that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages." (speaking of his c6). Ofc there are many scenarios where the extra 15% pyro damage bonus is good (also want to specify that this bonus is also only given to characters with melee weapons, so Yoimiya, Yanfei and Klee for example won't get buffed), but I personally don't think it's enough to justify ruining certain teams, especially since there might be future characters who wants Bennett without the infusion to work properly (speaking about my own decision with my own account, I want the option to not have him c6. My biggest current reason to do it is a few red pixels in the top right corner of my screen, which isn't quite enough to win me over). If people want to do it because they want the infusion that's fine, it's not the end of the world (there are even some teams that become available from it), but I'd definitely say the community is still very split when it comes to this decision. Upsides and downsides are both present, and afaik there's many players who prefer c6, but also many who prefer c5 (as there should be, variety in preference is a good thing). But yeah good video, not trying to be negative if I came across that way, just adding to the discussion
Agree with you with many things you said! Just here to add a few things about your comment. :) So actually Albedo's burst also scales from atk% (C2 changes some stuff but that's generally how it works). So Bennett does help Albedo a lot! And also every character on his burst field gets the 15% pyro dmg buff at C6! no matter melee or not! It's the infusion that applies to melees only. :) Also yeah wish it was possible to "turn off" constellations, instead they chose to add more characters with infusions of their own that can't be overridden. 😮💨
@@user-pm6vo2vz7h That makes sense. The description of the constellation states: "Sword, Claymore, or Polearm-wielding characters inside Fantastic Voyage's radius gain a 15% Pyro DMG Bonus and their weapons are infused with Pyro", but I guess that's a typo/mistranslation by hoyoverse
I personally find Bennett to be an abomination against game balance. Essentially, he's so good, he's bad. Not bad as a character; I mean bad for the long-term health of the game's roster. People give flak to characters like Thoma, Sara, Shenhe, and Gorou for being "too niche", but conveniently overlook that Bennet goes too far in the other direction. In a game where character revolve around niches, Bennet isn't niche enough. A healer, attack buffer, battery, and cleanser all rolled into one low-investment 4-star? Was he even playtested?? As a result, every support character has to be compared to an impossible golden standard that only exists because of a gross balancing oversight. Hence, most of the other support characters don't get the love they deserve because Bennett's mere existence precludes any reason to do so. Don't get me wrong; I still use him, but I just wish other support characters (besides Xingqiu and Kazuha) could enjoy the kind of popularity Bennett gets, too.
I personally really love the niche characters, and while impossible to do now, thing the game would greatly benefit from bennett being removed from the roster or nerfed to the point where hes basically only used for his c6. It would freshen things up and force the lazy meta slaves who just build the most optimal teams to try and come up with something new to do in abyss.
This comparison with Bennett is what irks me too much. I love Gorou as someone who mains Noelle, and I can understand people not liking him because of having little contribution to damage + needing 2 other Geo members aside from himself to be at full power, however Gorou's never useless in what he does best. Bennett is just so easy to build that it feels like I'm typing "-impulse_101" in Half Life. I also feel like Vars fails to discuss this (surprising for someone who plays League, a game belonging to a game genre that's pretty notorious for nerfing overperforming champions/heroes) and in turn loses nuance at least in titles (the heavy emphasis of "no one" in his WNOP titles).
@@SmokingManSan I don't think HYV will ever nerf Bennett (besides it being in a "ehh" legal territory, they'd already have done so if it was a problem). So there's no "fix" other than releasing units who benefit more from "niche" supports than from Bennett.
You forgot about his insane energy generation. He generates the most particles in the game, idk who thought generating 2-3 particles with 2s CD E is balanced. On top of dealing pretty good dmg, Bennett on field just does a lot. Mine 240ER 4set NO Support Bennett vapes his burst for 80k, 45k skill vapes and 27k non vape, it's insane. In classic Diluc team of Bennett, Xingqiu, anemo if you never swap to Diluc and instead will stay on Bennett you'll do more dps.
I started playing when Venti's first banner was finishing and I didn't get a single Bennet until Keqing's banner, so I was Bennetless for around 6 months. It was so bad, not only because everyone already realized how good he was, but also I liked his character a lot
🌸😹It could be spoken of Bennett, incomparable usefulness that cannot be rivaled by any and a power that shall not be challenged for ages in terms of support capability😹🌸
bennett was the first character i got (except for noelle because she was part of gacha tutorial). ever since getting bennett, i never take him out of my team eventhough that time he was always at rank c or d on every tierlist.
This video is truly wonderful, I’d love to actually see a “Why everyone plays Ayaka” she’s such a busted character damage wise and is almost on all cryo dps teams
The title: Why *everyone* plays Bennet Me, who doesn’t have bennet: *laughs whilst crying in the corner* Seriously, he’s the only character I want at this point WHY WONT YOU COME HOME TO ME, GOD DAMMIT BENNET
He's gonna be rate up on the next banner tho :D (someone who is also lacking a Bennet QAQ) tho I hope I don't get a 5 star trying to get him XD (I want to save my next 5 star for a sumeru unit)
"Every character needs attack and will always need attack" Yelan says hello. It's possible MHY will start creating more non atk scalers to reduce Bennet impact.
Yeah and it's not just Yelan specifically but there's already good amount of characters that don't benefit much from ATK buffs (Yun Jin and Gorou who have pure DEF scaling dmg on E/ Burst, Kokomi doesn't benefit much at all from ATK buffs, etc. Nilou in the future is also rumored to be HP scaling.
@@sweetillusions5495 Yunjin and Gorou are buffers themselves, so they don't really count. Kokomi's damage also scales with attack, and actually appreciates bennett due to the nature of Bennett's attack buff being flat, instead of a percentage increase. Everything about Nilou is heresay at this point, so why are you even mentioning her? The only true non-attack scaling character in all of Genshin's 2+ years of play is Yelan. It's unlikely that there'll be a lot of characters like her.
A small problem with bennet is how he keeps aplying pyro on you, so it can be hell to use him against eletro units who will constantly knock you down. Also, iirc his c6 is bad for ayaka too.
Ayaka has the least of the worry, her infusion is done at the press of a dash, Razor would be crying if you main him but u C6 Benney unless u somehow run Overload Razor
Even with a relatively cheap build, his damage isn't that negligible honestly. I have him at c3 with talent levels 5/6/13 (without the +3). He's on Noblesse with ER Sands/HP Goblet/Crit Rate Circlet. He does around 50K crits in the rotations I do, which is very much valuable for me as an f2p. Helps me a lot with Abyss Rotations. And particle generation. If you're using him with a Pyro DPS, he can help with 100% uptime of the himself and the unit you're using. This is just a fraction of what Bennett is capable of. There's constant Pyro application by this burst so you can avoid a lot of weird gimmicks like the cooldown increase by Hydro domains and the Energy sucking of the Electro ones. The example of Hu tao's skill bonus is also in Bennett's favour. Hu Tao gets the buff for herself, Bennett can buff any member that you can get on the team including himself.
If im completely honest Bennett being meta could be heavily affect his performance in future patches due to how burning affects the user. As we already know Bennett's burst makes the active character on field be affected with a Pryo status and if with a huge jump in heavy dendro hitting enemies. I honestly think Dendro could create new problems that can be solved with a less heavy focus on Pryo characters and towards weaker elements at the moment, such as Hydro and Electro. I'm interested to see how Dendro may structure Genshin meta again.
I think it's unlikely dendro will cause significant problems for him. Inazuma introduced a glut of electro based enemies that would cause players to overload while in Bennett burst, but it's so rarely a problem due to most units snapshotting Bennett burst and simply leaving the field or chasing down enemies after they get the buff. Burning is not only weaker in terms of damage to overload, but also far less problematic to rotations since it doesn't have any kind of cc or stagger when the reaction is triggered like freeze and overload. Dendro will give us a lot more variance in terms of what teams are viable in abyss, but Bennett should be pretty much unaffected unless HYV specifically design a counter to him and somehow manage to avoid destroying other character's potential in the process. As a bit of an aside, burning could actually be somewhat helpful in a pinch for players since Bennett's burst heals per second and burning deals lots of small ticks of damage. This can allow his burst to heal past the 70% mark by healing units who drop to around 68-69% HP while burning, meaning they'll actually have overall more health to tank bigger hits while in abyss.
great video, however i do disagree that bennett himself does a little amount of damage considering his scalings and his weapon priority he does dish out a high amount of damage himself (i dont remember where i saw the comparison but as a dps bennet outright outperforms diluc at similar levels of investment) he can properly perform as a dps himself with his short skill cooldown in his burst.
His burst is also the 2nd strongest pyro attack in the game, right behind hu tao's burst for one shot comps. Mostly cause you dont need to free up a slot for bennett, cause he is bennett. For reference, with roughly similar investment in all, I've managed 1m with hu tao, 650k with bennett, 450k with diluc and yanfei, and none of the other pyro characters rn have really strong single attacks. Bennett is a beast
It could be possible that Genshin was meant to be way harder than it is now. If you think of it a drawback of Bennie's ult is the pyro aura you receive by standing on his field. This means that effects such as Vaporize, Melt and Overload can be applied on you and either deal massive damage or send you around the entire battlefield. It's for the same reason defense is so undervalued: enemies are easy and don't deal as much damage thus this drawback doesn't really come into the equation and, if it does, Bennett is a fantastic healer anyway so it doesn't matter much.
good video!! but just one correction - bennett hasn't been given as a free reward yet, only via paimon's bargains. and i'm also not sure what freeze teams use bennett? same for taser as childe fireworks without an anemo slot has largely fallen out of favour.
You technically can use benny in a freeze team but the opportunity cost is a lot higher than other teams because freeze teams LOVE their anemo for CC+buffing and they also LOVE their 2nd cryo for battery + resonance. and in order to insert bennett you would need to get rid of one of those
for some reason I was thinking of pokemon and I thought about how a big percentage of the players would be screwed if hoyoverse added an enemy that has an attack that becomes invincible and then uses the move counter from pokemon
reasons why bennet is great - great attack buff - very fast heals -cheap and efficient to build - dosnt really heavily on artifacts -also has quick pyro application with skill for reactions lots of positives with almost no negatives though i would say his playstyles can get very boring quickly but hats just my personal opinion and dosnt really affect him from meta standpoint
Bennett's C6 should have a press and/or hold the burst key. [PRESS] Fantastic Voyage with Pyro attack boosts and [HOLD] same with press but with Pyro Infusion.
I'll never understand how people ranked him in c tier once, he's so blatantly broken you have to be blind not to notice it. Bennett can also be used in almost every team (not saying he is the absolute best choice for every team) and is incredibly cheap as you only need C1 and a noblesse set, everything else is a bonus.
It was an early game, everyone wanted damage dealers like Diluc. And a damage buff on early levels doesn’t feel meaningful. People haven’t figured out a lot of stuff at that time
Bcs back in the day when the game is still new, people dps are too low and the enemies damage hit too hard since your characters level are far below theirs. People want Max HP back then, instead only 70%. And they don't have the cons yet. Also only heals active characters is a problem back then. That's why Barbara was more preferable. E > CA > CA and the entire party got healed, or Q and done. It was after people start reaching AR40 or so Bennett starting to be a meta defining unit, along with XQ. Having said that, I used Bennett since the first Noelle 10 pull. And XQ after that. Fischl XL XQ Benny. Still remember I use 4p Exile on Bennett because I need heal fast so bad. And I'm really struggling with that so that's make sense why he was C tier once.
I was using him (together with Fischl) for all of my early and midgame, even before getting his C1, I didn't use Barbara at all, so no I can't understand. Xiangling on the other hand wasn't as obiviously busted.
Bcs he scale with base stats and only way to get them is through lv also in early phase of genshin, lving char to 90 was eating a lot of resources, so many people would prefer to lv up main dps. Combine this with his low personal dmg and the "negative" of healing only to 70%, also there was presumtion that 4 stars vere just worse than 5 stars.
@@michapiasta3072 That may have been the reasoning it still isn't a single valid argument. The scaling off of base atk doesn't change anything, you can't really push other stats much either in the early game. No character needs to be higher than 80 (+6th ascension) and it's not expensive to get a character to 80 (5th ascension), the AR restriction is the only limiting factor. Bennett never had low personal dmg, he is not main dps level but he's actually rather strong for a support. C1 isn't a high constellation either and you can use him well enough on C0 as I did for 2 months or so. Qiqi, 'nuff said.
I built my bennet to prioritize healing because the attack bonus from fantastic voyage has no conditions that can increase through artifacts (aside from raw damage which bennet isnt really for). HP sands and HP goblet with a healing bonus circlet and my bennet heals for roughly 7800 per tick of his ult and hes still sitting at 50/100 on crit and providing about 1100 attack. personally I feel like he doesnt need to do damage if he is buffing my team's damage and also making the active character literally unkillable. I get about 1100 attack from his ult and his healing is so absurd with my build that he fills two rolls at the same time allowing me to bring an extra sub dps.
I find it a little funny they gave us Shenhe and began to lock infusions for characters after Ayaka came out. I dunno if it was bc of the reaction to her mess up with Bennett or what but I do find it funny. I will say I hope we get more buffers and healers who are a bit busted bc if we have more Bennetts we can have more varied teams (in my opinion)
I have such an awkward relationship with Bennett. I don’t like his character that much, and I’ve never rolled him EVER despite being AR56. To be honest, I’ve thought about eventually getting him and putting him on showcase at level 1 as a flex… but I’m not sure if I’d do that, especially since I have 3 AQUILLA FAVONIA which I can’t use because I don’t own him or Jean. One day, perhaps, I’ll roll him. Or buy him from starglitter, I guess, although I doubt I’d do it just for him
2:14 "unless hoyoverse changes something, 4-stars have a better chance of performing well by either performing a support or sub-dps role" Uh... no? 4-stars have inherently less base stats, yes, but base stats dont really mean all that much in genshin impact. Skill multipliers, element, kits, etc all play as much of a part into how much damage a character does. Or what it provides to a team. There's a lot of 5-stars that are just bad as damage dealers aswell, so its not like 5-stars are just better. Xingqiu is one of the best damage dealers in the game, while not needing to be on the field. Is he a 5-star? no. Taser doesnt use a single 5-star despite being one of the best teams in the game, using Sucrose as the on-field unit/driver. In fact, you can even make the comparison between yelan and xingqiu... and they are roughly equal, despite being different rarities. Bennet doesn't really shine that much because he's a 4-star and thus cheaper... There's even the argument that 4-stars are sometimes harder to obtain than 5-stars after all, since they arent guaranteed. But regardless, The reason bennet shines is because his KIT is broken. Giving your other characters on field 1k attack, healing, while also having the best energy generation in the game is kind of dumb. Even if his base stats are terrible compared to 5-stars. You could make bennet a 5-star, and nothing much would change really, everyone would go and get him.
I'm so glad I got him and leveled him super early on at the beginning of the game. He's my favorite character by far personality-wise and my most pampered unit up to this day, my favorite son 🥺💖💖💖 I couldn't get why people said he was bad when he was carrying me during launch, and I'm very happy he gets the recognition he deserves now 💕

Accidents gone right
Basically Bennett's entire existence
"there are no accidents"
Bennett In the Lore: *No one wants to be on his team*
Bennett In the Game: *I can't build a team without Bennett*
😂
Tbh as a benny main, I can live without benny but not without kazuha, so weird running to your enemy to kill them 😂
Cheap to build, efficient to optimize.
@@Superflaming85 i dont find that an big issue, mine is healing around 2,500.
Its not that big but isnt that bad
Cheap to build? Are you insane?
I find it funny that at the start of the game people thought bennett was bad. I remember watching some streamers play and they got bennett and asked if he was good and her friend said he was meh.
his character is meh. i hate him because he's so useful yet so bland and kind of annoying at times
He was very good even at the 1.0 Abyss with all the Freexe floors and the Cryo fatui and slime enemies present in Floor 12.
META players that day , compairing him to Diluc . We know that they have different roles each other but they still ignoring him along with Xingqiu, Sucrose and Xiangling.
It's the same with Zhongli though, yeah he's the best shielder in the game but he's extremely boring, it's the same with Bennett.
I have a head cannon that Bennett buffs the entire team not because it has the ability to do so. But they just find his positivity endearing and a joy to be around with, so when he cheers everyone on it's like they have to do it or else it'll feel like they let good ol' Benny Boi down.
I love this concept so much
I mean, his burst literally named Inspiration Field 🤣
Let’s be honest and just say that Bennett has the entire Genshin meta dancing in the palm of his hand. Calling him game breaking is an understatement.
not really if you did build him badly, unless you build him as burst support, if you try dps with him i highly doubt it as he needs high invesment for that more so than others xd
Which is ironic considering that nobody wants to be on his adventure team(canon lore), but once he showed his true potential, everybody wants him

If there was a new 5* who did the exact same things for same investment, my first thought wouldn't be to ditch him for the new character. It would be that I can now have two of him in Abyss at once.
That was my thought with Yelan as well so thats why I got her as well
And as a five star that would probably not be on standard banner and even if it was it would be harder to get by the general player base so bennett would still be more cost efective
Actually that would be an abomination... And if that happens... I don't be surprised if said 5 star is an alternate version of Bennett. Just in Honkai Impact with the alternate versions of the character. So that way you can only put one of them actively.
If their attack buff stacked, that alone would make them good together.
@@Knucklebreaking that would be utterly ludicrous and game breaking 😂
Too OP.
Benny is futureproof. He will always be the best all rounder support and that will never change.
I mean, Venti is the Anemo Archon and he is less versatile than a relatively recent unit like Kazuha.
I would imagine the Pyro Archon, being the God of War, will be a main DPS.
He doesn’t buff dmg. He buffs atk wich means that in the genshin dmg formula he buffs everything at once since everything is calculated of atk.
@@hexi9595 yes that’s basically what I said
@@alexliu2842 Yeah but clearer
Cuz y'know there's different types of Damage in this game
Well to debunk the first claim . Healing isn't gonna help to your character if they just get oneshotted since the characters dead
@@DCminh-pe9wf So far. What happens next 5* damage buffing support after the poor reception of Shenhe?
@@MrPsychopathy I agree with sara not being a very good replacement for bennett as really only at C6 is she competitive and she's usually used in conjunction with bennett. However Shenhe isn't really a replacement for bennett, she rather competes with cryo supports/sub dps' since freeze teams don't include bennett. Also yunjin is a somewhat successful bennett replacement, she fully replaces him in yoimiya teams but that's her real only usecase.
I think what may happen is since he only buffs attack, once we get more def, hp and EM scaling characters he just won't be as useful
If you look at his kit. Hoyoverse design him to be a sub DPS with decent support abilities. But accidently makes make him overpowered support because underestimated how much base atk scaling does. Is pretty funny.
Hoyoverse design him to be 4 star sub DPS with some atk and heal support.

I love Bennett. I started playing Genshin because of him. I like his gameplay, I like his story, I like his design. he's cute and I see a kindred spirit in him. at the moment, this is still the only character I love very much. Me who's never used Bennett in my life: hmm yes I know what all of this means hmm yes
The fact that you asked if it was alright to share the ad made me watch it instead of skipping it lmao
I love how these long videos could be summed up to "buff good, build not hard"
@@Axterix13 Yae is hella fun to play on field, what you mean? You dodge like everything and see electricity fly.
I'm just glad that the most broken character in the game is a 4*, really is just a massive middle finger to the whole gacha system.
He is such a popular character that is is strange to me he hasn't gotten a skin/outfit yet
Because you’d be dumb not to use him 😂 I’m a whale and every time I do the abyss, he is the only 4 star unit I can’t just not use
In one sentence: The most overpowered character in the game that the devs made while either drunk or high or both.
🌸😹It would not be a stretch to utter of Bennett, that he is but a king that embodies excellency to his core.😹🌸
Everyone except me at AR60, got him on Noelle's starter banner before her - never used him once.
Double E on a high refinement sacrificial bow ggs.
3 simple things
Heal: everyone needs it
Buff damage: everyone needs it
and apply pyro to yourself: For cleansing and sometime is the key ingredient for double swirl for kazuha team
His C6 is a pro and not a con imo and I'm prepared to die on that hill
Many still argues with that and some are way too pressed on c6 bennett, i mean if you count physical teams especially eula, even with that pyro infusion is such a hassle to her, she still pack a punch because how ridiculously high her normal atk scaling and it does not affect her burst(most of her teams are less likely to have bennett on it since she benefits alot on superconduct from yae, raiden, fishcl, e traveller, beidou) and even with ayaka i don't have issues on it since i cant melt my elemental skill tho
The thing I hate is when the electro rift wolves and other enemies attacks me when Im inside Bennetts thumb
Imagine if hoyoverse made two Bennetts, twice the damage
Bro, i swear to god, you or your editor know that Fire Emblem Awakening has one of the most awesome music in the franchise, and you use it almost flawlessly. Great work as always.
I still remember my first team before knowing how to build teams was albedo,**bennett**,childe, razor
Boy did he carry me through hell and back
I think you did a good job summarizing Bennetts importance overall in this video.
Also yeah wish it was possible to "turn off" constellations, instead they chose to add more characters with infusions of their own that can't be overridden.
Bennett may be the most unluckiest person in the game (in terms of lore and background story) but he is the MVP in the roster.
Like a c6 zhongli
Easy solution for that - make him use his elemental and burst at the cost of the hp and scaling of his remaining hp, like Kuki.
Vars, this might be the most accurate video you have made and I really enjoyed it. Keep up the good work!
You could say he bennett-fits in almost every way..
I'm sorry
No that’s goood 😭
I find it confusing how it took this long for this to come out considering he’s generally top 3 supports (up there with raiden and kazuha).
This video is truly wonderful, I’d love to actually see a “Why everyone plays Ayaka” she’s such a busted character damage wise and is almost on all cryo dps teams
The title: Why *everyone* plays Bennet
Me, who doesn’t have bennet: *laughs whilst crying in the corner*
Seriously, he’s the only character I want at this point WHY WONT YOU COME HOME TO ME, GOD DAMMIT BENNET
Same,
Ar54 and no Bennet yet :((
Abyss sprial is so damn hard without him.
Pls,come home Bennett
He's gonna be rate up on the next banner tho :D (someone who is also lacking a Bennet QAQ) tho I hope I don't get a 5 star trying to get him XD (I want to save my next 5 star for a sumeru unit)
I understand, I got my first Sucrose when I was AR 55.
@@ishoulddie1437 No kidding, it also sucks that I also have Xiaingling C5, Xinqui and Fischl but i don't have a god DAMN Bennet
Remember boiz there isn't yet a highest base damage sword with 741 like SoBP or Calamity Queller.
Yes, because swords will just never get a base atk equal to claymores. They're simply different weapons with different range of possible stats
the only thing bad about bennett is that he increases the opportunity cost of putting other, new characters onto your team
Bennett is so insane that as long the artifacts aren't defense, he's still crazy.
I only use Bennett when I want to use his pyro infusion that he gets with c6
Bennet over here fighting Albedo with the travaler's handysword while travaler's still using a dull blade.
I have Hu Tao and Bennette on the same team and Hu Tao does more damage with c6 bennette than at low health.
"Why everyone uses Bennett"
Me who heard everyone should build Bennett when I started playing: well now I'm not doing it just out of spite
Me too buddy, more specifically I'm only going to build him when I get him c6 just out spite to other people and then not use him ever again

"Every character needs attack and will always need attack"
Yelan says hello. It's possible MHY will start creating more non atk scalers to reduce Bennet impact.
did you miss the part where he said "except for yelan" 5 seconds after that
@@miles6180 He isn't criticizing the vid, he's just saying maybe in the future more chars like yelan will appear that don't require atk.
@@adamsanders6614 i know, it just seemed redundant to me that they pointed out yelan when he already acknowledged yelan in the video
And now we're getting a free Bennett in 4.0. I'm definitely looking forward to it.
So excited for the rerun next week. Finally get that sweet sweet c1.
Don't forget he also infuse the character in the ultimate with pyro, so you can cleanse negative effects in domains or spyral abyss with him
If im completely honest Bennett being meta could be heavily affect his performance in future patches due to how burning affects the user.
@@anokage7403 i never thought about it that way! Thanks
Rioting for an excorcism event I need to see my boi Chongyun:’D
great video, however i do disagree that bennett himself does a little amount of damage considering his scalings and his weapon priority he does dish out a high amount of damage himself (i dont remember where i saw the comparison but as a dps bennet outright outperforms diluc at similar levels of investment) he can properly perform as a dps himself with his short skill cooldown in his burst.
You CAN use Ben in a freeze team as a great alternative, as a pyro unit. That’s the broken part.
You technically can use benny in a freeze team but the opportunity cost is a lot higher than other teams because freeze teams LOVE their anemo for CC+buffing and they also LOVE their 2nd cryo for battery + resonance. and in order to insert bennett you would need to get rid of one of those
for some reason I was thinking of pokemon and I thought about how a big percentage of the players would be screwed if hoyoverse added an enemy that has an attack that becomes invincible and then uses the move counter from pokemon
reasons why bennet is great
- great attack buff
- very fast heals
-cheap and efficient to build
- dosnt really heavily on artifacts
-also has quick pyro application with skill for reactions
lots of positives with almost no negatives though i would say his playstyles can get very boring quickly but hats just my personal opinion and dosnt really affect him from meta standpoint
C6 is fun
Bennet is probably the forever meta character in genshin,
His kit is just perfect
I do just fine without Bennett. Qiqi is all I need. 😎👌🏻

Me doesn't have Bennett on ANY of my accounts: *inhales* AAAAAAAAAAA-
I have such an awkward relationship with Bennett. Or buy him from starglitter, I guess, although I doubt I’d do it just for him
Gotta appreciate the Fire Emblem Awakening music in the background.
If the Pyro archon ends up being a 5-star Bennett I'd be pretty pleased.
Yeah like we don’t know why everyone uses Bennett
2:14 "unless hoyoverse changes something, 4-stars have a better chance of performing well by either performing a support or sub-dps role"
Uh...
He's my favorite character by far personality-wise and my most pampered unit up to this day, my favorite son 🥺💖💖💖
I couldn't get why people said he was bad when he was carrying me during launch, and I'm very happy he gets the recognition he deserves now 💕
I can't concentrate on your words when fire emblem ost is playing in the backgrounds. Nice analysis.
