North Yorkshire Moors Railway 50th Anniversary Steam Gala 2023

Hello & Welcome to Harnetty Railways
Coming up in this video we have 4 days at our friends at The North Yorkshire Moors Railway for their 50th Anniversary Steam Gala celebrating 50 years of the railway in preservation since The Duke & Duchess of Kent came to open the line as a heritage railway back in May 1973.
The guest engines for the gala were 3 locos in former resident of the line between 2010 & 2013 BR Std class 9F 92214 now a permament resident on The Great Central Railway making a welcome return to her former home after leaving the line back in January 2014.
The 2nd guest engine was The 75069 Fund's BR STD class 4 4-6-0 75069 visiting from The Severn Valley Railway & the last guest was Caledonion 0-4-4 tank 55189 visiting from The Bo'ness & Kineal Railway home of The Scottish Railway Preservation Society.
The major interest for me was the return to the line till the end of the main running season in November The SGNLT's A4 pacific 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley.
Mostly this year's theme was a bashing theme from Harnetty Railways this year but it was a nice change & getting some memorable runs.
The highlights were the double header of 55189 & 80136 on the Thursday of the event, Friday bashing 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley & 92134, Saturday wasn't much but had our 1st trip behind the flagship loco of the railway Black 5 5428 Eric Treacy out of Whitby for the 1st time since October 2019 while he was doing the shuttle runs between Grosmont & Whitby.
Sunday the last day of the gala we were back to our more familier territory out at the lineside on the 1 in 49 grade between Esk Valley Cottages & Beck Hole.
It was a faboulous gala celebrating 50 years of the NYMR in preservation.
Like at The Severn Valley Railway having a great variety of motive power.
