    This was such a helpful video. I have always used pinning to load my quilts, and while that gives great control of the quilting, it’s so time consuming (and often painful!). I think the See Tites are the solution I’ve been looking for. Thank you so much for sharing!

    I just went to the website to see about ordering some magnums. I dont have a business, so i cant expense these. I am sorry to say they are way to expensive for me to justify purchasing. I will keep looking around to find them. Thank you for the video!

      Hi Miriam! Thank you so much for your interest in SewTites! As a small business, we can't manufacture in huge quantities to sell them super cheaply. Additionally, magnets, metal, and shipping have all skyrocketed over the last couple of years - and, we also donate 5% of our profits to a local organization each year. We appreciate your consideration of our products and hope you'll eventually be able to purchase them.💜

    I am really glad I saw this. I have a new machine and have yet to decide what loading method I will use. This by far seems like the most efficient manner...I didn't particularly want to deal with the snapping system pieces...these are so small and I love that. Thank you!!

    Great video, Shelly! I'm a Longarm League member as well--in fact, I learned about SewTites from another LL member several months ago. I bought the pack of 50 and did the very same thing, loading them into the channel on all three of my leaders. Less fiddly and SO FAST when loading! I'll probably go ahead and purchase another pack of 10 so I'll have a total of 60 as I do indeed use all 3 bars on my Bernina Q24. I haven't done any King-size quilts yet on my 12-ft frame, but I'll be ready when I need to. I'm relatively new to Longarming and was NOT enjoying the frequent pinpricks (stabbing more like). No more fear about getting blood on client quilts! Yay! The only thing I was disappointed about was that very issue with the magnets on the Take-Up rail when I'd tighten things up and some of the magnets were sliding off the backing fabric. It was very frustrating. I essentially ended up pinning and using the magnets. But I'm going to try this method of loading the backing fabric exactly as you demonstrated to see if that helps. Thanks again for a fabulous video. 😊 Cheers!

    I have a 8ft frame how many would it take for each bar?

    • @sewtites
      @sewtites  7 місяців тому

      We recommend one every 6inches, so you'd need 14 on each side, 28 total (We sell them in 5 packs or 20 packs)

    I thought about what you said about the leveler bar being an issue. I haven't added them to my leaders yet, but I thought others would like to know. I tapped the metal backing piece to the yellow side of the magnet and the attraction through the yellow plastic is extremely slight as compared to the metal side. If you load the yellow pieces into the leader, the metal side will be facing the leveler bar and will likely attract to it and get stuck. I'm going to load them exactly the way you did. I think they'll be fine. At least I hope they'll be fine. I'll update my comment once I've got them loaded and have used them. Great video! Totally changed my mind on whether or not these were worth the investment.

      Did you try doing this yet? I tried but the magnums got stuck and came off the backing... still trying to figure out a way to make it work to load the backing on my Handi Quilter machine - which has the leveler bar ... any other thoughts would be greatly appreciated @SewTites

      Okay, update. I'm signed into my personal account, but I'm the original author of this post. I loaded the magnums on my machine and I am obsessed with them now. They are super strong. I'm not afraid of them coming off at all. But I was right. The metal side of the magnet is super strong, but the yellow side isn't. Which is a great thing! They're strong enough to attract to the leveler bar so that they won't get caught on the edge of my ruler base or needle plate (which other loading systems do), but when I go to advance my quilt, they just slide right under and beyond without any hassle whatsoever. I LOVE them and am always talking them up at the longarm quilt store I work at where we sell them as well. But in the video she suggested loading the yellow half in the canvas channel. Don't. Load them exactly they way she did. They work amazingly well. Beyond my expectations!

    Please tell me how you can sew the magnet of the Magnums in your leader (they are sticking to each other as I am sewing) and then roll your bar...I tried to sew in the magnets as you suggested. I'd have to replace the backing metal on the magnets to roll the bars in or out...If I don't, place something like the metal backing over the magnets the magnets stick to everything metal....the frame and the bars. So I ripped out all of that sewing, pulled out the magnets, then placed the metal bars inside the leader then sewed them in... let's see how this goes...I'm getting frustrated.

    • @sewtites
      @sewtites  Рік тому +1

      Hi C - The metal bars inside the leader should do the trick! That's the way most people find success with the system (as outlined in the video - sewing the magnets in the leader is an alternative to the typical way they're used/installed). Keep us posted - hopefully, they'll work wonderfully for you now!

    I invested in the magnets but I’ve had trouble with my machine (a gammill) pulling the backplate off the magnet and thus loosening my backing. What am i doing wrong? After spending this much on the magnets, i want it to work.

      Check out the recent Q+A we did with Sarah of Sariditty! She demonstrates keeping the quilt loose as you wrap it and then pulling it taut.

    I have new leaders - how big do you have a recommend I make the channel to hold the Magnums? Also, you mentioned that they may try to grab the leveler bar, has anyone had this happen?

    • @sewtites
      @sewtites  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Becky! We recommend that you make your channel just a bit wider than the back metal plate, which is 5/8". You want the channel big enough to slide the back plate in easily, but also not too wide so they don't move around too much. The channel will span the entire length of the leader, and typically spacing is around every 4" apart from each other.
      As far as the issue with grabbing the leveler bar, I'm unaware of any up front issues so we can't speak to that. Sorry!
      Happy sewing!

    Just saw you in IG. Longarm quilter here of 20+ years…and one of the first dealers of the IQ systems you have 😁. How do these compare to just using zippers? Zippers take half the time😉

    I love this! fairly new to longarming but I love sew tites. I've struggled with loading my quilts. I use red snappers and I’ve tried pinning also. How would you recommend doing this if the leader on my machine does not reach the front bar?

    • @matantequilting1224
      @matantequilting1224 2 роки тому

      Hi Angela! So glad you found the video useful! In your circumstance, I'd recommend laying the leader flat on your machine table. You'll need to lean over the belly bar to attach the Sew Tites. I'm quite tall and find this easy to do, but I would imagine those who aren't as tall as me would prefer the comfort of using them on the belly bar (which is why I showed it this way in the video). Please let me know if that helped, or if you have any other questions!
