I've got the GF45mm and it's a great little lens. A tiny bit sharper that the GF30mm but they are pretty close. I'm told the 50mm, 110mm, and 250mm lenses are the sharpest lenses they make, with the 45mm being close behind. Though a test I saw, showed the new 55mm as the sharpest lens ever tested. Once you are as sharp as any GFX prime lens, I don't think sharpness really matters anymore anyways. Even their "softest" zoom lens still outperforms full frame, IMHO.
I am endlessly surprised how versatile and sharp this 45mm lens is. I always sort of regard it as a step-child and when I am traveling I am like "should I bring it...?" and I do and that ends up being where most of my shots come from.
Great lens. I prefer the 55mm 1.7 but I tend to find my own photography isn’t focused just on landscapes tbh and I find the focal length a bit more useful. Thanks for your views was good to listen to 👍🏻

@@hunterhart1 Haha, much love to you man. I really appreciate that. Honestly, the 65mm is amazing and an incredible price if we're being honest. The AF on the 80mm is quite slow and heavy (the entire element group racks each time you review a photo or power on/off the camera) so you're in a good spot. So stoked to see what else you shoot with the GFX.
Hey Hunter, great video! I'm planning to move into medium format, so this clip has been very helpful to know more about GFX lenses. Regarding what you mentioned about this 45mm lens feeling narrower than its Full Frame equivalent, it's due to the sensor´s aspect ratio (shape). It's still a 35mm equiv lens, but as medium format sensors from Fuji GFX (and Hasselblad XCD series) are 4:3 (not 3:2 as full frame) the image is narrower but taller. Exactly the same as old TVs before LED screens. So the proportions and optics of the image are still of a 35mm equivalent lens, but the shape of the image is different, being more "square", missing the sides. You can do this same exercise by cropping a photo in Lightroom from "original" or "as shot" into "4:3 aspect ratio". Cheers!
In this FL, I went with Sigma 40mm f/1.4. Although it is a FF lens, it covers the 44x33mm sensor area comfortably. IQ wise this lens is an absolute marvel - perfectly sharp and contrasty from f/1.4, no CA, very mild and soft bokeh. Build quality is just excellent (full metal body, weather sealed) and price is half of the Fujinon with no penalty in the IQ.
I am pleased that you are enjoying the 45mm lens (brutally sharp). It is a real keeper indeed! It has a 35.55 mm in FF lens speak. I have 8 Fujifilm GF lenses. The 45 is a very compelling lens indeed, and in many ways the only lens one might need. Not as sharp as the 110 however. I have the 20-35 (brutally sharp) 32-64 (brutally sharp) 45 (stunningly sharp) 63 (brutally sharp) 80 (very sharp bokeh very dreamy) 110 (hyper brutally sharp) 120 ( ludicrously sharp) 250 (just magnificent) That's all... for now!
Hey Hunter, in case you're still looking for a wider angle solution, many people posted good photos (on the GFX adapted lenses Facebook group) taken w GFX and 7Aartisans 35mm F1.4 Leica M mount lens. Also with the 7Artisans 28mm. Looks like they have some ghosting happening wide open. Also the Voigtlander 35mm F1.2. If you have a GFX lens and want to know what would be the equivalent 'full frame' lens, you can either multiply the focal length and/or aperture by 0.79 or you can divide by 1.27...SO THE LENS IS 35.55MM

Subjective, it may be the best lens for you. The 45mm f/2.8 weighs 490g (1.08 lbs) the new (fast) 55mm 1.7 by Fuji weighs 780g (1.72 lbs) so it’s not fast and it wouldn’t weigh much more relatively speaking, definitely not 2 kgs.
@@hunterhart1 i don't think so, i don't think i m subjective in any way. It's the best lens fujifilm has ever made. optically it is a masterpiece, and i own all the medium format lenses Fuji has ever made, including the Hasselblad H lenses, with the exception of the 24mm f4,5 and the 50mm f3,5 HC ii which i do not have. Fuji made those lenses as well. also you can make lenses be 1.2 or 0.95 or whatever the TTartisan lenses or whatever company makes those gimmick lenses for full frame, but a real 0.95 is 2kg. as the Nikon 58mm 0.95 demonstrates. for medium format it would be even bigger, because that's the way physics works mitakon 65mm 1.4 gfx for example is a fullframe lens rehoused so is the 85mm f1.2 mitakon (great on full frame, soft and low contrast on gfx..) honestly you think those people at Hasselblad H systems are dummies that their fastest lens is f 2,2? .. fuji can make the 1.7 now because the sensor is 30% smaller..

I have the same lens the amazing 45mm and the 110mm both super sharp! 🙂
Thanks for watching! Would love to try out the 110 but even more so the 80mm
@@hunterhart1 I Read that the 110 is way better than the 80 !😊
@@lemon58421 good to know!
@@lemon58421 the 110 is optically perfect
Try Canon EF lenses with an adapter. They're brilliant
Have you tried a 35mm ef lens by chance?
@@hunterhart1 Nope I haven't but the 40mm f2.8 is fantastic
@@MikeKleinsteuber I’ll give it a swing! Thanks man
I adapt ef sigma art 35, 50 and 85 1.4s and love it!
35mm equivalent and fast, if you ever had to have one lens, that (this) would be it!
the best GFX lens is 110 f2. also this is a very fast lens at f 2.8. if it was faster than that it would way 2kgs.
Fuji made those lenses as well.
also you can make lenses be 1.2 or 0.95 or whatever the TTartisan lenses or whatever company makes those gimmick lenses for full frame, but a real 0.95 is 2kg. as the Nikon 58mm 0.95 demonstrates. for medium format it would be even bigger, because that's the way physics works
mitakon 65mm 1.4 gfx for example is a fullframe lens rehoused so is the 85mm f1.2 mitakon (great on full frame, soft and low contrast on gfx..)
honestly you think those people at Hasselblad H systems are dummies that their fastest lens is f 2,2? .. fuji can make the 1.7 now because the sensor is 30% smaller..
7:25 higher iso
Thanks for watching
Love the content here man. Gotta do something about that mic popping though lol...ouch [headphones]
Sorry 😢
Well, if it's too sharp, you could always smear some vasoline on the front of it. 🤣
It's narrower because it's truly a 45mm. Opposite of the APS-C FOV effect
You people photographing in the rain, please state that on the as when you sell your cameras and lenses, because moisture will definitely enter the system regardless of weather sealing. They just use O rings, and metal and water and electronics do not mix well. Very foolish to believe marketing gimmicks. Ever heard of an umbrella?
Ad not as...
Have you ever heard of unpredictable weather? I actually sold this camera to someone who watched THIS video of mine, that’s how they found me 😅. Funny how you see the world, but thanks for watching!
