As a Lithuanian it's very fun to see a straight line mission in the Baltics, also it unlocked some childhood memories as my family would go to the park in Tērvete every year when I was little.
That was so interesting to watch! I am really glad that the straight line mission scene is growing stronger, and your narration and style of editing was so familiar to me, it welt honestly no worse than Geowizards. Excellent quality. Glad it somehow ended up in my recommendations. Tere from the Holy Land!

Rivers, bushes and hills don't have sh*t on them :) Wish you best luck in your determination. P.S I' ll bet you will see dreams about this adventure :)

Hey! Im from Latvia I planned almost the same line, but a bit on the other side of Jelgava. Some planing issues between my friends made us postpone this mission for 25 summer, but we did a shorter vesion thru Vidzeme. It was life changing experience and one of the hardest things i've done. My friend almost died next to me in the middle of nowhere, because he got bitten by the only poisonous snake in Latvija ''Odze.'' We had no signal on our phones and we where 7 km away from any civilization, deep in a big forest, so no help was possible. He drank a lot of water and then fell asleep for 1 hour and I did'nt know if he will be alright. After he slept he woke up and got better and only in the morning we found were he was bitten. Don't take this lightly, be prepared and stay safe! Can't wait for the next summer to finally do the whole country.
Oh that's awful! I'm glad your friend is okay. Yes, we have to look out for the same snake here in Estonia. It's called viper in english. That's actually one of the reason why we attempted our mission in late October because snakes are not that active anymore. Are you sure you want to try this in the summer? In our experience SLM in summer is like 5 times worse than late autumn or early spring (heat, vegetation, bugs, snakes and etc.) But nonetheless, we wish you good luck on your mission! Hopefully you'll document and share it as well 😊
@@TOM-ITI It doesnt look so bad, avarage 500km-600km, google shows 135h walk. Problem i think is Latvia, you will need to cross Daugava, Gauja, Salaca, and Gauja being most problematic

As a latvian have been wondering and trying to figure out which place it would be best to cross. I personally started looking at a different line, which is longer, but might be easier. Looking forward to see how you did on this one.
That sounds interesting 🧐We looked some other options as well before sticking with this one, but it would be cool to see your choice. And especially if you decide to do it 😉 I think later we will also find time to explain all our choices and actions a bit more in detail 😊
Actually you were the first that introduced to this “straight line” adventure, first time hearing about it! Thanks for the content. Looking forward to see what you are next up to! I live in country side my self, 30km from Liepājā. If ever I would see anybody sneaking through my yard, I would serve a cold beer (that would be a nice ending of second 15km day, right 😊)
Well, it is indeed a whole another world so welcome aboard!🤗 Actually we were discussing that we would have loved for someone to chat with us longer and spend some time with locals but you will see how our interactions fold out so yeah, it would have been perfect 🤩🤩
I've been toying with this idea for some years, just for the fun of it seeing if I can actually find a good line, because the rivers and swamps make it pretty difficult. Settled on something similar to this in the end, but wasn't going to try it as it's just a bit too crazy for me :D Also had an idea for traversing the path of Rail Baltica (only in Latvia) before it's built, as it would be cool to see what it looked like before. However recently after the Fieldhouse Boys did a cycling trip, a cycling straight line from East to West has been of more interest to me as that seems way more doable for me. Been trying to find a line for a little bit :D Really enjoyed watching this, and hopefully you make it to the end! :)
Thank you for sharing! You should totally make this cycling trip a reality! All those types of challenges seem scary at first but if you start small and build up from there it will make the big missions less taunting. Thanks for the comment and good luck on your adventures! 😊
I was so happy to see that someone planned almost the same line as I did. Not that I would try to complete it, but just to theorize it. +1 subscriber from Latvia

That's cool! Yall guys realize an awesome idea. Hello from Kazakhstan. Try to walk through Kazakhstan by straight line 😂. Btw I'm your 666 subsscriber 😅 Good luck with your adventures :)
You could do the next straight-line mission only with a compass, with GPS in the bag that you can't check till you finish the mission. Doing so, it's going to be more interesting to see how far you will deviate from the line, and the achievement of platinum will be even more rewarding. (just an idea for the next adventure to make it more harder :) ) Love from LATVIA.
Ahhh.. I had the same plan. Haha. Wanted to do it for couple years now. Scouted a perfect line in summer and was thinking about doing this fall, but the lack of GPS device and preperation, stopped me as I didn't want spend 300eur on a gps and didn't find a place to rent one. 😄 Nice to see someone else doing it. Might be the first ones to have done it in Latvia?
We used a sports watch for our first 2 missions, so I hope you'll still give this a go! 😉 As far as I know we are the first people to attempt to cross Latvia yes.
Randomly poped in my suggestions. Clicked for beautifull girl, stayd for guy screaming in river. As interesting and awesome idea is about stright line, I somehow would suggest to make exception for private property. After all its private. As friendly as I am, not sure how I would like to see some strangers who cant communicate in local language passing thru my yard
We didn't have any special protection as we thought that they are already quite passive as it has been quite cold and we found only one which was fine. Fun fact: when I (iti) did a straight-line mission in Hiiumaa (island in Estonia) I walked mostly in forests and didn find a single tick on me, but Toomas assisted me and we met on roads that crossed my line and he found 5 ticks on him 😬
Cool video! I thought Latvia was one of the best straight line countries in Europe and I planned literally the same line as you :D I think it's pretty much the perfect one, it narrowly evades a lot of tricky places and is almost the shortest without crossing Kemeru purvs (which is realistically impossible)
Thanks! Yes Latvia is perfect in terms on landscape and shape. We had different versions of the line but this was the most reasonable option. It would be very cool to see how you do it 😉
I assume the villagers are not happy seeing you crossing their property and lands. It's not surprising some one pull you over. But I'm glad that nobody kicked your bums 😁😁😁 You could use a stick to jump over small rivers or swampy spaces that what shepherds did back in a day. Hugs to Estonia ❤
latvians are actually pretty chill about it, there is private land you can't cross but thats mostly only the fenced areas generally if it has no fence you can pass through. though as a fellow latvian i can tell that the note or explaining what you're doing if asked is the way to go.
Hi! Iti here! 🤗Thank you very much! It definitely requires resilience and the right mindset to do this as a woman but I also have the best partner who inspired me to do these hikes and who I trust 100%😊 It definitely is cooperation and I could not have done it without Tom or it would have be a thousand times harder. But yes, I can see that there are not many women so I am proud of myself! 🤩
You've been quite lucky so far. There are huge areas of forests totally flooded because of beavers that block ditches. No point to discuss the probability of meeting volves and bears as since you have posted this video, you have obviously avoided them 😀

Fun fact: when I (iti) did a straight-line mission in Hiiumaa (island in Estonia) I walked mostly in forests and didn find a single tick on me, but Toomas assisted me and we met on roads that crossed my line and he found 5 ticks on him 😬
@@TOM-ITI so you tick protection was not with you..
@@TOM-ITI That means Toomas protects you from tics, just like partner who runs slower than you protects you from lions...
Väga äge kanal, hea huumor, huvitavad seiklused, kõik mis vaja. Tuult tiibadesse!
Aitäh! Sellised sõnad annavad jõudu ja julgust juurde! 😉😊
Good job guys! Waiting for next vid 😄🙏
Thanks! 🥳 We hope it is worth the wait!
Great video 👍
Glad you enjoyed it! 👍
Ohh. I saw your trailer in riga that day. I was thinking about buying one someday and traveling, starting from Estonia 😂😂😂 what a coincident
Omg, Iti here! 🤗 I will tell my parents! They love that trailer and will be glad it was noticed! 🥳🥳
It would be very cool to see how you do it 😉
Try Germany or Poland next... 💀
I just hope they dont met some crazy farmer with angry dogs 🇱🇻♥️🇪🇪
We hoped so too 😅
So cool
Please don't conquer us, we've had enough of that already...
I assume the villagers are not happy seeing you crossing their property and lands. It's not surprising some one pull you over. But I'm glad that nobody kicked your bums 😁😁😁
You could use a stick to jump over small rivers or swampy spaces that what shepherds did back in a day.
Hugs to Estonia ❤
latvians are actually pretty chill about it, there is private land you can't cross but thats mostly only the fenced areas generally if it has no fence you can pass through. though as a fellow latvian i can tell that the note or explaining what you're doing if asked is the way to go.
Next time get those fishing shoepants to cross the waters. 😄
We considered them but they are a bit annoying to carry 😅 But they would have been perfect for the last big ditch 😅
@@TOM-ITIif you have Decathlon store in your Country, they sell quite compact ones
@@Desperoro Oh in fact we have one. Thanks for the tip! 😉
Fun video, when will you drop the second episode?
@@dummley5812Glad you enjoyed! Next episode will be up hopefully next week.
Ah yes, Tervete was hit by crazy storms two years in a row.
Oh okay, that explains a lot. We saw some massive trees which were pulled out from ground by the storm. Thanks for the info!
Hope that You manage all line without meeting too many angry dogs ;)
Thank you for keeping your fingers crossed! We'll see what happens 😅
CONGRATULATIONS to the girl (is her name Iti?) on being the first of her sex to participate in a straight line mission (on UA-cam).
Hi! 🤩
Hi Brothers and Sisters - from Latvia ❤❤❤
Greetings from Latvia!
Very interesting episode, +1 subscriber.
Don't forget to visit us again next year! ;)
We will come to Latvia every time their is a chance! We love your country and people! 😊😊
You've been quite lucky so far. There are huge areas of forests totally flooded because of beavers that block ditches. No point to discuss the probability of meeting volves and bears as since you have posted this video, you have obviously avoided them 😀
Hmm, now that you mention I can say that we indeed were lucky so far...there are definitely some surprises coming up ahead 😅
very interesting challenge.
are you Estonian couple ?
why you do this?
and what you think of Latvia ?
@@piggybaggy242 Yes we are 🇪🇪. We love hiking but like regular hiking (on set paths) it can become a bit dull. But a Straight Line Mission is a perfect way to spice it up.
We have always liked Latvia. It's a lovely country with beautiful nature and friendly people. 🇱🇻
The route looks very close to a big swamp (Kemeri), not possible to cross it.
Yes we know that can be very dangerous, that's why we planned our line just to the left of it.
how tf did this came in my suggested videos. :D im like 5minute drive away from Tērvete.
It was meant to be 😆
Tad redz, kas pa manu lauku vazājās.
This was nice.
Did you get any ticks from that? The Latvian jungle is infamous for having ticks. Some good songs here too, something to add to my playlist :)
Thankfully most ticks are not active that late in autumn but I (Tom) found one tick crawling on my clothes at one point but that's all.
Glad you found some new music here! 😊
Lithuania mentioned!
Indeed😄
