- Hey guys. This is a new one. What do you do when you dont have a line bore machine big enough to handle the job, you think of other ways to accomplish the challenge. Follow along as you see how I jumped this hurdle. Kick back and break out the popcorn or cold drinks. Enjoy. Thanks for the support in advance.

I wanted to thank you for your inspiration. A year ago I was stuck at home with Covid. I discovered your channel along with alistairarc. I decided to change my career, I went to school for welding and I was offered a job even before I graduated. I have now been welding for almost 6 months and I love it. Thanks for sharing your craft, you inspired this 40 year old to change his life.
Good luck with the new career. Isaac had to do with what he had on this repair job. He didn't have the boring tool but had the skills to get the job done.
Congratulations it is nice to have a job you really care about. It makes a world of difference in your life.
Old old old school techniques are the best and you are the best at working with metal hands down. With your talent you could have knocked out this job in the field even without a lathe I am sure. You have the stediest hands, of anybody in the business. Thanks for this video and the lesson that comes with it that proves that the man is the technology 100 %.
Im always amazed at your torch skills....i dont think many people understand just how hard it is to cut steel with the results you get. Awesome repair, thanks for sharing and educating.
And makes it looks effortless. Like a ninja with that thing.
That's how I got onto this channel. A bunch of pipe welders sharing clips of his torch work. I'm here for the big picture, but there's something here to learn for everyone who melts metal.
Untill you grab a torch for the first time and wow this sh*t's hard...
I used a torch in the shipyards for 12 got pretty good at it and ya he has excellent torch skills
So true, anytime Ive cut with a torch it looks like a toddler writing for the first time haha
The welding on the inside was a good time to call your boy over and use that young small body to sit inside and earn his keep.
As a farmer, we make a tremendous amount of repairs on the go just to get the job done. Some get redone the correct way for the future operation of the equipment, some never get done any better and if we are lucky they run for years. We have many examples of the latter working hard for us to this day. I have utilized techniques learned from you on this channel a number of times making on the go fixes and am happy to say most of them panned out positively. Thanks for the videos and your ideas! Nick, North West Farmer
a wise man once said there is nothing more permanent than a temporary fix, :D I've bumblefucked things together that are still holding 20 years down the road lol
I don't know what's more satisfying, the perfect circle or how clean those oxy cuts are. Good job man
"you gotta do what you gotta do, uh when you can do it so that's what I'm gonna do and just keep going" Liked and subscribed! 😎
Thanks for the sub!
I'm just glad, unlike those people in other countries, you're not wearing sandals and a dress to work in.
Keepin it safe!
Thnx!
Like you always tell us - it’s not a how to video, it’s a video of how you did it.
As far as the lathe work goes, you got it done, it fits well enough that it needed to be tapped home with a hammer. There’s not much more that could be asked for except was the customer satisfied?
I’ll bet he was, so it’s a win/win all the way around.
Great job Isaac!
Great way to problem solve. Don't pay attention to the keyboard warriors... You did what worked for you, their approval of your methods is not required.
LOL I love watching your channel. I watch the India and Pakistan truck repair channels. Those guys are nuts. welding front springs on a truck in the rain in the mud with sunglasses. um no thank you. much peace and stay safe
IC Weld with Isaac and CEE with Kurtis, double feature Friday! Thank you for your wonderful content 👍
I watch the Pakistani U-Tube guys all the time and what they do is amazing. Not sure its sound practice but when you have what you have it will do.
You have the footwork of a ballet dancer when you cut the inner ring!!
Always keepin it so “Not Complicated” IC! I Love it!
It works!!! 😁👊
@I C WELD.... HANDS DOWN THE BEST TORCH GAME IN THE INDUSTRY
I had a small farming operation after my eyes went bad and had to do a lot of 'patch work'. Old buddy of mine used to say that I was country smart and could find a way of making things work. I might be, but you are pretty much 'country genius' when doing torch work and making things work. Being a rod burner like I did doesn't even begin to compare with your work. Keep on keeping on brother.
You are not a welder, you are a master craftsman. Respect and greetings from SW Oklahoma.
I think based on your tools at hand and experience level, Kurtis from CEE Australia would definitely give you a thumbs up. Not everyone has the tooling and years of machining experience like Kurtis. Primo job Isaac
That being said I'm always impressed by Isaac's repairs in the field, making every simple thing a challenge compaired to a workshop setup.
All modern boring and shaping tools have been made by doing the exact same as you have here!! "Let's see if this works!!" Thank you for showing all of us without all the attachments and gizmos, how to get it done!! Not everyone has tooling in 3 micron increments! Thank you for helping us few without all the accessories the catalogue has to offer! This is why we watch your channel!!
you are a good welder but the best burner i have ever seen.
He is a master with the torch!
Another perfect example for the young guys. The conditions aren’t always perfect and the right tools are not always available, so with some skills and little imagination and some thinking outside the box your able to do anything. Beautiful job Isaac.
Absolutely
I’ve met some old guys that couldn’t or wouldn’t think outside the box
@@dirtfarmer7472 you are absolutely right, I’ve met those guys too. Im just saying that it’s ok to colour outside the lines.
Dude you have soo much knowledge!!! I hope your boy soaks it all up and doesn't piss it away!!! I 👊👊
The end justifies the means, great job.
Unexpected, but elegant solution. Accurate, but without unnecessary overstatements in precision. Just Mr Carrion's well defined trademark.
You find people of two sorts off the beaten path: fools and champions!
Great Job…it should out last the machine….much much better than new!
I like the way you laugh as if you surprised yourself 😂
Great music while you were machining! Impressive work as always.
Amen. Fix it to keep going. Fix it properly in the winter. Planting and gathering waits on no one
'I'm not a machinist,' he says, and then proceeds to knock out a very difficult part to machinist tolerance. This is what tyoutube was made for. Great stuff
People on the sidelines: "why did you do it like that!?"
ICwelds: "because I'm the welder."
Finishes job, walks away paid in full.
You are an amazing all rounded metal worker of all.
The man down under would be proud of ya. Great video.
13:49 I can't be the only guy who watched this and could picture an apprentice going right through the centering bar...
Awesome work
I am a machinest. Your lathe work was very good. Thanks for show. Delbert Texas
I had to come back and give you a "Thumbs UP".
When you are good you are good. Great job
👍 you're a machinist with a torch! 😂
Nice work as always my friend!
The only reason people keep bringing their equipment back to you is they know that they are going to get quality work done , we have a saying here in Australia ,When you’re on a good thing stick to it, you are the reason we keep watching your vlogs is we love watching a master at work , you inspire us to learn more about your craftsmanship thank you from Tasmania Australia 🇦🇺
Thank you for the kind writeup. glad its been fun and interesting. Thanks for the support.
OD & ID cutting and machining & It went together like it should, Nice.
I have never seen anyone as precise with a torch. You’re a true master at it.
I also watch Pakistani Truck and channels like that where people use the safety flip flops and kid mechanics. Its cool to see what people will do when you don't have the right tools or the right parts but you have to fix it.
This channel is great. I like to see how someone else solves a problem when the best tool isn't available, and still get quality work done.
For a man that doesn't do much machining work I'd say you did a pretty good job with that one.
For not being a machinist you got it very well! This is a great idea. Thru all that I've learned about this, patience is the main key. Never rush the job. And there are more ways than one to get it done. So before you begin think about it! Then think again!
What a true craftsman. Absolute pleasure to watch your videos, and thank you for taking the time to show us your magic.
Good job, as usual. Nothing wrong with using a normal lathe tool to do an inside bore. The only thing you have to check is if the bottom of the tool blank will clear the curve of the part. Not much of a problem on large holes, but can be one for smaller holes. You can grind some extra relief on the tool, or sometimes just offset the tool a little above center, or a combination of both.
I wilton, you are so correct.....
Anyone with a desire to learn will benefit from this channel
You are a freaking Lazer beam with that torch!!
I think even Curtis (cutting edge engineering) would approve of your machining skills! Thanks for another great video.
I think Homeless would give that work a tick of approval
Curtis has already done it. I don't remember which video I would put the link on otherwise
Curtis lo ha gia fatto. Non ricordo in quale video altrimenti ti metterei il link.
Thank you for sharing you work with us!
A a new video creator, I've started videoing a project, but stopped and because of time, just finished it without finishing the video.
You can do it. its not easy but it pays off with a little perseverance.
@@ICWeld I appreciate the encouragement! Appreciate your videos!

Best with a torch I have ever seen . I am not bad but you are very good
Next time you might try placing three small pieces of sacrificial brass or aluminum between the steel ring you are machining and the step in each vise jaw (make sure the pieces are the same thickness)... That will enable you to complete the ID cut from one side and not have to worry about lining up the ring again after you turn it around. As usual, a clever solution to a problem and stellar Oxy cutting!!!
Good idea!
Steady and smooth like the jazz!
You beat me to that suggestion
super glue 14 gag copper wire on the lath 3 points get your clearance so you don`t have to flip the ring over
Fantastica idea!
You truly are a master of your craft!
So many guys out there think they are in a league of their own until a job like this bites them in the butt.
Keep up the great work!
You understate your abilities, sir. Never cease to amaze me with your innovative ideas. And, love the cool jazz.
Yes! A very pleasant change from the background on a lot of other tubers.
Great repair with the tools at hand. George Patton said "you go to war with the army you have, not the one you wish you had." Same with repair work, use the tools you have to best advantage. Another great job well done!
Get errrrr done. Thanks for letting us look over your shoulder, again. Great job showing us unskilled guys how its done. Thank You.
He may be humble but he is REALLY good. Like REALLY good.
The repair turned out great and probably Curtis approved.
You might want to look up how to do trepanning cuts. Seems like it could be a useful technique for doing rings like that. Wouldn't take much of an investment in tools either.
Also, what I've found useful is that it's often the thickness of the ring that's more important than the diameters. So, get the thickness right, then slit the ring to buy you some fudge room on the diameter. Not saying it's the fix for all solutions, but it can certainly help if you're "accuracy challenged".
I want the "If it works, it works!" tee shirt :). Great job. I learned from my father that often you just have to make do with what you have on hand. Nothing wrong with that. And in most cases the customer appreciates that it's getting done on time and at a fair price.
I second this!
@@JohnRaySalazar Yes come on Issac we want the tee shirt
I’d like an “it is what it is“ tee.
Amazing work. You act like "meh...no big deal...not bad". Humble is the word.
Very interesting video as ever. Must admit though, I would like to feed that manic guitarist to a Great White Shark!
Hands of a surgeon! Steady and smooth! Great job sir, you always educate and impress. All the best and God Bless everyone!
I love watching these videos!!!
Honestly, I can't believe that worked. Impressive. I would have figured that it would have been out of alignment at the very least cutting that hole by hand (even with your jig). At worst, I would have figured that thin ring would have warped all over the place, but nope... worked like a charm. As I have said before, you are the Yoda of the torch. Well done!
Not just a developed skill , but a talent with aptitude ,,, many welders never achieve this level of competency
Abom79 may not approve of the lathe work but I think it worked great. Well done!
Great work Issac, Music's fab, DJ Williams, James River....
Kurtis would be proud of that the way it fitted, you always get him to knock you up a few rings if that was a regular repair, freight from Straya might be a bit of a kicker though🤣🤣🤣
He is a surgeon with the cutting torch. Even when he free hands it, it looks like a robot cut it. In other videos it's even more apparent, like repairing the excavator boom. Good metal workers are hard to come by. I found that out trying to get a thumb welded on a backhoe. I eventually stick welded it myself. Looks like crap but its strong.
You are a master of any repair. A lost art in today's world. Keep up the good work.
The easier it looks, the better you are. And Dr. Weld, you make this look like my grandmother could do this! Yes, you are that good!
Your talents know no bounds Isaac :)
Lol, I love it. “Before you guys get all up in arms”. I feel you brother. Trust the process. Another great job! I always enjoy watching your methods as a fabricator.
I do believe that it would not be difficult to manufacture the pieces that you would need to line bore larger diameters. Especially with the knowledge and tooling that you have.
I wish I had a lathe we had one at the shop I used to work at and it was super handy welder, torch, lathe, and a mill we were only limited by our imagination on anything we wanted to make some of my best and most useful tools I own were made in that shop lol
That's a masterpiece Isaac!
Ring of steel from a torch of fire. craftsman, fabricator welder, problem solver, you do it all
One of the best videos.
your ability with the torch is absolutely amazing!
I'd just tell them, "I used my "Super "I" circle cutting machine" to manufacture this part. You know "I" for Issac!!!!!!! No computer controlled plasma cutters needed.!!!!!!! I recently "tried" your on-off pulse technique on a small job involving some rather thin stock, in vertical and over-head. It worked great, Thank You Professor!!!!!
Learned something. Center punch test for hardened steel, very scientific.
The music cracks me up. One minute I expect Starsky and Hutch to come crashing through the door, 10 minutes later it sounds like John Holmes is line boring a few holes of his own....
Isaac, you'll be getting a bunch of 👍👍 up from Pakistan, you'll have to start welding without eye protection and of course a dirt floor in the shop.
A real torch artist, I'am always impressed by your clean blue jeans and clean shirt at the end of the day. Keep up the great videos.
Excellent repair. Very humble expert! Thanks for your time.
Nicely done as usual ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. You are so right about repairs done on equipment in other countries, people are geniuses when they need to be.
Thanks, Isaac. Always learning from you!
IC you amaze me….and I know something about what you are doing. JC🌵
I guess we have to get on Kurtis to make you a nice boring bar for Christmas.
Nice video and repair like always. It’s like an old friend said. There’s more then one way to skin a cat.
You make things work. and it works👍👍👍👍👍👍🥽🥽🥽
you did a fine job like always ,you the man
👍
Another great repair !
Adam, Keith and Curtis would be proud of your machining work. Great repair....:)
I didn't realize how big that hopper was until you jumped in it....as always, I enjoy you taking us along
AS always, Great work.
Impressive work, thank you for sharing!
