  • Sun and rain. I need both to survive but too much of either one will wreck my day. To gain some control of the power of the sun and rain I decided to build a primitive mobile panel that I can place where I want it to give me shade and protect outdoor items from the rain.

    You could make

    Las hojas de palma secas son, entre otras cosas, un excelente material, cuando se rompen en trozos pequeños, para aumentar la resistencia de los adobes de barro, igual que funcionan muy bien como soporte permanente para hacer techumbres aislantes, recubiertas de barro amasado, sobre armazones de madera como el que fabricaste para tu choza. Gracias por el vídeo. Suerte en este caluroso verano.

      @@PublicServiceForTruth Si. Cuando tienes una estructura de maderas sólidas, como es la que Chad fabricó en la choza, solo necesitas cubrir las partes huecas entre las maderas con algo que sea resistente al peso para añadir una capa de barro amasado, y las hojas secas de palma, por la forma en "V" de sus brotes, soportan muy bien el peso sobre ellas sin necesidad de usar tanta madera adicional de refuerzo en la techumbre. Y duran muchos años, ya que no es normal que sean atacadas por tantos insectos.

    Fan Palm can also be made as a Hand-held Fan to cool yourself especially in hot summer time. It can also be used to drive air to your fire place when you are making a fire .... Besides, many people in South East Asia use fan palm to make simple roof for their hut ( usually when the palm are still green & fresh which is easier to handle ).

    • @ChadZuberAdventures
      @ChadZuberAdventures  4 дні тому

      Getting green leaves is difficult because they are higher up on the palm. They are also harder to transport because they are bigger when they are green. A fan for the fireplace is an excellent idea.

    With your lashings, is there a reason you are ignoring the "frapping" step? After you get the few wraps around the branches you should tighen them up by doing a few wraps around the lashing itself to pull the loops around the branches tightly together.

    • @ChadZuberAdventures
      @ChadZuberAdventures  4 дні тому

      I don't think I showed all the detail of tying the branches together because it was too long and most people then just click off of a video at that point. But, yes, I do wrap around the lashing itself too. I might not do it the best way though. I've never been taught how.

    if you want to help increase the over all plant and animal health in the region i think making a makeshift beaver dam or to in some of the seasonal rivers/streams... i heard it insures that the water will slowdown enough to better soak into the ground which helps the plants and animals... also apparently it can help create fire breaks to slowdown and supress wild fires... i think it could help with fishing if make correctly... regardless making some small swells and berms along any nearby channels that rain water flows should help with erosion and plant growth in your area... then again if i had my own land to live and build on i'd let my inner medieval nerd out and start building a castle/fort...
