I bought these cheap shells to run through my cheap Turknelli M4. even after adding a $65 rifled choke they still didn't impress. They do function really well, not a single malfunction in 200 rds. I could usually get a 3" group at 50 with the choke, but sometimes one would fly way off paper. really bizarre. I measured 1400fps from a 18.5" barrel.

3 MOA at 50 yards is 6 MOA at 100 yards. That's perfectly good for a foster slug. 100 yards is max, and 6 MOA would hit a deer in the boiler room. Personally, I'd limit a foster slug to a 50 or 75 yard shot anyway.
@smartacus88 - I did a video with a wide collection of foster slugs, and iirc most of them shot 3-4" groups at 75 yards from the same gun in that video...
I have a couple of cases of these and some Sterling slugs. The function very well but extremely dirty with my Mossberg 940 Pro Tac and my Panzer M4 Speed. They absolutely suck on my 590 but are HORRIBLE on my KSG to the point where the bolt carrier gets bent, on both of these shotguns the Troy slugs fail to eject. The expand in the chamber causing them to get stuck in there.
Nice work. We always run Winchester or Remington slugs . Be good for range ammo on this brand or deer on a stand under 50.

Try putting in a rifled choke tube in it it will make it a lot more accurate
yes, they shoot a little better with a rifled choke. still not the greatest slug IMHO. however, the price was right
I like the look of these slugs! + Made in the USA. Love that too. I've always had the best accuracy with Brenneke and they penetrate super deep. Im sure there will be those that shoot it poorly and those that shoot it well just like any ammo/gun combo.
Hows the recoil?
@@mia1shooter In shotgun slugs I've never noticed much difference in recoil between loads that are similar velocity and weight. Most any 1 ounce slug at max velocity felt the same to me. different brands of 1 1/4 ounce slugs when the velocity remained the same felt the same to me too. In low recoil or managed recoil loads the payload is sometimes less and normally the velocity is at least 150 fps less and those do feel like less recoil to me

I’d be happy with that initial group. For defensive use that’s more than enough accuracy. Hunting not so much, but if I’m at those distances I’m probably using a rifle anyway.
I also have the same trigger issue with my 590a1. If I had to guess I’d say it’s about a 7lbs pull.

Damn I thought that first group was pretty nice for a 12 guage at 50 yards. I’d take that all day long..
how would you know where you 'went' on that abused target??!
I have 400 rounds of these and when I out 10 Rounds mixed some other ammo no big deal to clean. But when I put 70 rounds through my semi auto it took all day and I mean ALL day to clean I got 99.9% out of the gas system the barrel is another story. I don't know what I'm going to try next thinking about white vinegar and hydrogen peroxide.
Try the cleaner I just added to the description for you- it is the only thing I have found to get those streaks and junk off the inside of the barrel...

I wonder if they have different slugs? The box says YTR and the slug you showed at the end says YBR
Good catch. Not sure what's going on with that, but all the boxes say YTR while the slugs say YBR on the hull (I still have a few boxes). If I had to guess, they changed the name somewhere along the line and are either still using old boxes or old hulls until they're all used up.

Man i bought 3 pack of federal copper sabot slug for 60 bucks, hurts my pocket and i dont even feel like sighting in my shotgun because 5 round cost 22 bucks..
Yeah sabots are expensive
I bought 200 I haven't tried them yet The problem I see with them is the slugs aren't centered in the hull and some of the shells are oval shape from slugs not being centered in opening hopefully they feed well
I didn't get any oval shaped ones in my lot (thankfully)
