    Just wanted to say that in the video you dont really state the reason why you would want to soft drift in the first place. You mention the fact that you get mini turbos at the same speed as if you were to do a hard left or right turn. That is good to know for sure, but what you dont mention is that hard drifting left and right slows you down and that soft drifting basically prevents that. It might be basic knowledge to some people but for new players it might not be.
    Just giving some advice and I hope you dont take it the wrong way.

      oh i didnt know hard drifting slows u down more than soft drifting thnx! i thought it was just to avoid neutral drifting so u get minis faster

    The soft-drift angles in that Reddit post are wildly inaccurate. I honestly have no idea where or how those angles were sourced, but they're completely wrong. It also never states which axis the angles listed are meant to be measured from (is it from the horizontal? the vertical?), which makes it ambiguous as to how those angles are even supposed to be referenced.
    In reality, the soft-drifting angle is the exact same for every build combination. It does not change with any stats. The widest possible soft-drifting angle is just shy of 45 degrees from the horizontal axis (or just above 45 degrees from the vertical). I dunno if this channel allows for commenters to post links, but if it does then I can post a reference to an extremely in-depth page about soft-drifting and how the controller inputs get mapped into the input space that the game ends up actually using. The only caveat is it's in Japanese, so you may need to get a translator ready and try to piece some information together

      I took math up to calculus two and have tutored for 10 years after a near fatal car Accident took me out of med school during my third year. You always measure angles from the horizontal lol

      @@NicoleStevensHays11x I 100% agree; however, I've been a part of the 8DX Time Trial community since Day 1, and for some unholy reason when talking about soft-drifting angles, they would more often than not measure from the vertical. So in context, yes, my criticism does have its basis

    wow this is really high quality, thanks for teaching soft drifting!

    I noticed that you had to move the stick back and forth a little to navigate the turn a few times. Is that still soft drifting?

    • @jade_3132
      @jade_3132  2 роки тому +19

      Yup it’s still soft drifting. While you still wiggle drift when soft drifting, it’s still faster than regular hard drift wiggle drifting.

    Does it matter if u hold it in the lower quadrant or upper quadrant as long as it’s at the right angle?

      I don't think so

    • @Dinostraw
      @Dinostraw 5 місяців тому

      Late, but in most cases no. However, it does matter in tracks with floaty/underwater physics depending on the situation, since holding in the lower quadrants extends your airtime, whereas the opposite is true for the upper quadrants

    So when wiggle drifting when soft drifting, would I just go to the opposite angle on the thumb stick rather than straight left?

    Just a Heads up the reddit post that lists the all the soft drifting angles has been deleted and isn't archived AFAK. Do you happen to have a link with the full image? It'd be much appreciate.

    Thank you so much!!! This was really helpful. Also, is better to soft drift downwards instead of upwards?

    • @jade_3132
      @jade_3132  2 роки тому +4

      I personally go downwards because it flows better with the way my thumb moves on the stick. But either way works the same so it’s personal preference :)

    • @Dinostraw
      @Dinostraw 2 роки тому +3

      Ignore the Reddit post shown near the 3 minute mark. The widest possible soft-drifting angle is just shy of 45 degrees from the horizontal axis, and this is the same for every build.
      What you will need to do though is get used to the timing of when to release your Mini-Turbo (MT) with different builds. Builds with a higher MT stat charge MTs at a faster rate, so you'll need to be somewhat familiar with how quickly you're able to charge MTs with the different builds that you choose to use
