Life of the Northern Hawk Owl | Wildlife Filmmaking

- The Norther Hawk Owl is a very unusual visitor here I Denmark. Once in a while they come from the north, to stay during the winter and I was lucky enough to witness it, as it decided to stay only an hour from where I live. Together with my buddy and wildlife photographer Emil Poulsen, we had a few days with it and I got to film the owl hunting, eating, flying around, relaxing and just hanging out in the area. A beautiful sight!

A beautiful creature, it looks so weird when it sits at the very top of the tree looks like it shouldn't be possible
I actually have a few clips of it struggling to sit on the top 😅 but it’s not a very big owl and it looks like it has a very thick plumage, which makes pretty good sense. I guess it looks bigger then it actually is 🤷♂️😊

Really cool to see your great footage! We had a hawk owl stay in northern Maine in the United States this year, which is unusual for us at they rarely leave Canada so I appreciate the rarity.

Jeg smed et par gode (i min verden) skud af den med mus i næbet på Instagram. Havde lige fået mit 200-600 G. Men den sad på samme gren i en time. Så kørte jeg hjem igen. Men hvor er de smukke. Ville ønske jeg ku finde nogle steder omkring Taastrup/Roskilde med ugler ørne eller egern. Tror af at køre rundt uden at vide hvor jeg skal køre hen :)
I wish people could leave this birds in peace and stop disturb them. We had an Strix uralensis near by i live. It was hunted by birdwatchers and photographers several weeks every day. It died starved to death. Where is the ethics. Some people do anything for a perfect picture or a kross. I never ever tell somebody about rare birds if i now where to find them.
Of course you have to respect the animals and do everything on their terms - that’s like the most basic rule if you wanna film creatures natural behavior… you know, I’m not hunting for a perfect picture as you can see, I’m filming behavior. But I have to ask - Should I understand your comment here like you are blaming me for not following the ethics by filming this owl or how should I put it? Or are you just talking generally? Just to clear things out.. 🤷♂️
I'm speaking generally. Don't know you. I seen bad behaviour where i live among birdwatchers and photographers. I think the ethics among some of these groups are bad. .@@andersaastrup
@@Verona175 okay fair enough 🙏 you are right - there are always somebody who see these issues differently and that is indeed a problem. Thankfully with this owl, my experience was that people mostly gave it the respect it needed and as you could see it had no trouble catching prey 😊
