Often the stall horn already goes off on the final approach, just before touching down and they manage to need only 200 meters to land, saving them having to turn the plane around to taxi to the terminal. They just land and turn right to the terminal.
I really appreciate the viewer that suggested this visit and for you guys actually going! After watching the video I can't wait to take a trip there. 😊 Kara & Nate, you both are the most pleasant people, enjoyable content & helpful to watch on the internet 100%!!!
YES..... I love Saba. I'm been traveling to Saba every year for the last 6yrs..... Love Saba. SCUBA DIVING there is amazing.... Glad to see your note about your able to fly and scuba dive in the same day... However you can't dive and hike to the top of the mountain in the same day... It's too high. Fun fact... you can still hitchhike there. I was picked up by the school bus one time. Scouts place where you went is the place I stay at when I travel there. The owners Wolfgang and Barbara are two very sweet and welcoming people. And so are the Sabans.... GREAT VIDEO..
That buzzing you heard just as the aircraft landed on Saba was the Stall Warner. Basically it sounds off to tell the pilots that the wings are about to lose lift due to a variety of reasons. In this case probably flying too slowly to shorten his landing roll on such a short runway. Such a great experience. Great video and love your work.
As someone who just moved to a new, small town, just started learning Dutch, just started a degree in geology, and just started learning to dive; I think I've found my place. Thank you!!
Stellar! Totally Stellar! Loved how the pilot had to crab getting into Saba and then basically dove in and then pulled up until the stall horn sounded. Now THAT's flying!
I think this vlog would be the absolute BEST u guys have made. Maybe it had something to do with the size of the island and the home vibe u have it. Ty. The best ever so far.
My grandmother has a house on Saba and has always spoken about how the airport runway freaks her out every time she travels there, so it was really neat to actually see the landing! Thanks so much for sharing! ✈️
I loved your footage of the landing..and your fellow passenger's comment. You guys, this island looks so cute! Thanks for putting this place on the map for me 😊
Guys, you brought a nice smile on my face. Very well shot and edited video with fantastic nature shots. Just made up my mind, this place will be my retreat place for writing my book, thanks for discovering it for me. Keep them videos coming in and never lose those great smiles guys, thanks for the time and effort.
You will love it there. There are some peaceful Airbnb's as well as a few hotels. I've been traveling to Saba every year for many years. You'll get to know the whole island within a day or two.
I'm from Tenerife, Canary Islands. And this islands reminds me a lot of a little island from our archipielago, El Hierro and it's my favorite island of all!! Love your videos!! Xxx
Thanks Kara and Nate for enjoying and showcasing our Dutch Islands of Saba and Sint Maarten on your blog. I live here and forget sometimes how blessed we are as Dutch Citizens to live where many ppl vacation, these islands have so much more to offer 🇸🇽
We learned (in the next vid) that the pilots are highly trained, and if they go on vacation for a month or so they have to re-train a little before flying again with passengers!
@@KaraandNate Just like me with the bus on short exit and ramps here in Sweden to the highway. Just came back from vacation. Really scary the first time. Hahaha.
Btw, the "beep beep" sound on landing is the stall warner, basically meaning that there's not enough airflow over the wings to sustain flight. Also because it is a commercial operation, the aircraft must legally be able to land and stop within 60% of the runway distance, just shows how amazing these little Twin Otter aircraft are 👌👌
Ive never been more excited for a video. Saba was like our second home! Brings back so many memories!! Ugh i want to go back now! I recognized so many people! Great vid again!! ❤️
I'm like you, Kara. I tolerate flying generally ok, but I definitely don't love landing. You handled it like a champ, girl! I've heard about this place, and what an absolutely incredibly beautiful island. It made that scary plane ride worth it. I mean, it has churches, a post office, stunning views and goats roaming around freely. What more do you need? You made the right decision to allow Nate to talk you into going, Kara! I love so much that you guys went, and now we get to enjoy it too! 😊😊😊
I can't explain it, but in the list of places I want to visit from Kara & Nate videos, this has moved to near the top! I can't wait for part 2 of the video. :)
You guys are the best travelers vlog I have ever subscribed to!! Congratulations on your Shorty Award!🤩😊 I love watching all of your adventures, and your videos lol especially when you have you have your “happy accidents!!” I have told all of my friends and family about you and have even shared with my friends on Facebook! I look forward to your future adventures and wonderfully exciting travels around the world! Keep flying safe and stay in love! ☺️
Just breathe Kara... all will be fine! the Twin Otter Aircraft that you were on it uniquely suited for that mission! Winair has been flying the Caribbean for years! The Kara POV has been priceless!
Hi Kara and Nate - wow that is an unusual island - and one we have never heard of - Love the shots out of the airplane windows - you always make these shots look so great - thanks for sharing.Chris & Marianne
Hi both. I have just started to look to your videos and I must say they are very addictive. You guys look so good together and the way you explain about the places makes me feel like we are experiencing it with you guys. Keep it up. Waiting for more videos. Cheers
Hey! I’m a 14 year old from England and I just love your videos😍. Currently, I am binge watching all your videos (currently I’m watching the Kenya blogs!!). Keep doing what you love and keep up with the amazing content because you inspire me and so many other people. I LOVE YOUUUU!!!❤️❤️
Saba looks amazing. I have a feeling y'all will go back for a much longer visit. I now must add this to my ever growing list of places to visit. Thank you both for such wonderful videos and fantastic information!
SO COOL that you were able to see through the pilot's window as you were landing! Also, Saba kind of reminds me of the Caribbean version of Catalina, off the coast of Los Angeles. I've been wanting to island hop through the Caribbean for a while, and you're just adding fuel to the flames :)
What a cool thing to see! That's what is so great about traveling, you arrive somewhere and find out about another place to check out that you wouldn't have previously known about!
WOW it is so beautiful..Priceless video Kara & Nate. The views are breathtaking! My jaw dropped when I saw the landing strip, as I was like OMG..wow that pilot is so skilled! Love the video.
What a unique island and experience🏝 And that rain storm at the end was so cool!! So happy that a subscriber told y’all about this place👍🏼 (And that y’all survived😆)!! Stay you 😘
Oh my god, I would never convince Matt to get on that plane. He is like Kara, well done. Crazy how it is possible to get a plane to stop with such a short runway.
Wow.. What a landing.. Its Thrilling.. Absolutely love your stories..You guys are our inspiration to start our own UA-cam channel and share our experiences.. Love from India 😊
Just now me and my brother were speaking about you that u haven't uploaded a video for more than 6 days and suddenly there came a notification about your video That is Kara and Nate!! We love you guys Keep rocking.....Inspiration ❤❤❤
Whoa! That approach at Statia, you must have dropped like a ROCK. And the approach at Saba, just crabbing it in. (Aviationese: crabbing = flying kind of sideways, usually on approach in a crosswind.) Take some skill. The crosswind must be something right at the threshold of the runway, due to the mountains suddenly ending. What a great LADY driver. So glad you spent the night, the island needs visitors to spend money! I've watched lots of your videos and this is THE best.
I am so excited to see this video! I've been waiting so patiently since I received your email back! Yay!!
Thank you Kinda for recommending Saba to us! ❤️👏🏻✈️
As a pilot that was a beautiful short field landing! Stall horn going off and then immediately into reverse, well done
Yup good flare as well
@@blewyd yup both of you are right well done twin otters

I know me too.. I live in a very large and very crowded city.. this place looks like a dream.. and it is so green too...
That's the Southern hospitality

As soon as I saw the title, I was thinking “Poor Kara, it’s like the airport in Nepal all over again”. Different reasons, just as scary.
Hahah yes major flashbacks were occurring!
I was thinking the same. :)
I was also thinking along that line. Esp when the plane is so small it reminded me of the Lukla flight that K & N traveled!

Sounds like you were meant to go here!
Kara I think you got significantly better with those types of planes since Everest. 😁👍👏
I love that Kara shows the realistic side of travel, makes me feel better about wanting to travel yet hating flying
Stellar! Totally Stellar! Loved how the pilot had to crab getting into Saba and then basically dove in and then pulled up until the stall horn sounded. Now THAT's flying!
Why do I react to new Kara and Nate videos the same way Kara reacts to that first cup of coffee?
Right is like my breath of fresh air this two..
I have actually started to holding the cup the same way.
I know, it’s so fun!

i am rewatchin some of kara and nates old videos and none of them have aged but they have become better people and I just find that amazing
Wow, what a gem of a find! An island with no people, gorgeous, gossip about the new cement truck and can even study? *packs bags*

"That pilot must have some skills!" No; he's a 12 year old skateboarder who doesnt have a pilot licence.
And he likely doesn’t get paid much
@@SKS8080 he probably has that job for a few years to get hours and then move to the airliners.
