Though some Old Testament kings had many wives, this wasn't God's desire. In Deuteronomy 17:17, God specifically warned kings not to take many wives, as it would lead their hearts astray. God's ideal for marriage is found in Genesis, with one man and one woman. The kings’ actions didn’t reflect His plan, and their choices often resulted in negative consequences, showing that polygamy wasn't what God intended. The Bible often describes people's actions without endorsing them.

I never understand why men in these times had so many wives. Surely God wasn’t happy about this ?
I thought marriage is between one man and one woman!
