    Dear Lass, hello. I am most likely your oldest student. I am 98 yrs . I love to crochet but I have forgotten alot of my stitches and you have helped me to remember again. I wanted say for many many years us old Gals have been using Red Heart. It's heavy and it makes very warm blankets and cloths. They used to have many more colors and they have cut back on colors. I love the Holiday colors. The Christmas mix with silver or gold colors in it. I appreciate so much going over the yarn. Because I don't know these other companies and this will help me to try new yarns. I am afraid to try new yarns because I have always used Red Heart and other companies way before your time. K mart many years ago has an excellent yarn and they had many many colors. It was wonderful yarn. Strong, blankets that would last a very long time. Thank you Lass for this educational film. 👵👍

      Hello Ma'm,, my wonderful Mum taught me to knit when i was literally a toddler and i knit my first jumper for myself before the age of 3. But the reason that i am writing to you is that because of my Nana, who would be 106, so just a smiggin older than yourself, she taught her daughter, m Mum to knit and crochet and i just want to say thank you to your wonderful generation that shared your talents and skills with their children, allowing me at 56 years old to love working with my hands creating. I am left handed so it took me decades to finally get to grips with the various stitches that you crochet, but my first wearable that i made was a pair of the fine crochet cotton heirloom baby shoes for a christening. I hope that wherever you are that there are people around you that want to learn from your talented hands. Wishing you well, Norah, Glenochil, Scotland

      Im 27 and I watched my mom crochet at 9. She didnt teach me, I just watched and learned. Now Im at the point where I teach crochet to Elderly Retirement Community.
      But anyways, I agree! I used Red Heart for a couch/lounge blanket and it perfect to throw ontop of a thin blanket. Its heavy in a good way, working like quilt in the winter.
      Its not the softest but again, it has amazing weight.
      I use the Impeccable brand now (SO MUCH SOFTER) 🤗🧶 $5 a skein at Michael's but they always have a deal going on. Just the other day I purchased 8 for only $30. (Deal: buy 3 get 1 free)
      The week before was (Deal: buy 1 get1 half off)
      With the 2 deals it was $15 for 4 balls and I only need 6-8 balls ($25 -30) Sometimes it makes sense to just by alot if there is a good deal 😀
      Its all the same just

    I've ordered from Hobbii twice now and I love their customer service! They show their appreciation by sending a free gift as well as a little heart-shaped piece of hard candy. So cute! Also, thank you for your free child color block sweater pattern today. Such a fun little gift to wake up to!

    I have tell anyone how many orders I have had from Hobbii, they will know I have a yarn addition. I have tried so many os their yarns. Never found one I did not love. Especially love their cottons. 100 different colours. Their service is excellent. Living in Australia, what we have access to is limited. Finding Hobbii 5 years ago, was my lotto win.

    I really enjoy the yarn I get from Hobbii'. I like the fact there are so many colors in the acrylic yarn. I like using the DK and it can be hard to get.

    Just wanted to add that I LOVE Hobbii. I have been ordering their yarns for several years now and so far they never disappoint. Lots is made is Turkey and the quality is wonderful. The shipping is faster from Denmark to me here on the left coast of the USA than it is from the right coast of the USA. Amazing ! ! Wanted to add how happy I am with their yarn and the quality. I've made everything from gloves, hats, and scarves to full size blankets and I'm never disappointed with the results.
    Enjoy !

    I adore Hobbii it is my #1 go to yarn store. I use mainly natural fibers or blends. You’ll love twister I’ve made dozens of dresses, coats, headbands, blankets etc.
    Metallic makes a wonderful lightweight shawl, cardigan etc.
    My favorite yarn of theirs is all things cotton. It works up beautifully. Wears without pilling too. I have a number of grandkids that I’ve made everything in cotton for.
    I got cashmere too and am making an heirloom piece.
    I can’t find this kind of quality natural fiber yarns in the states for such an economical price.

    Big fan of Hobbii yarn. I really love the Twister Solids, in fact I have that maroon color that you got. Works up really nice. I am also a huge fan of their Loren Natural Cotton. I have made so much with that cotton from bags to bikini tops. Great review!

    Great review and prompted me to check amounts on my current project. I was short a few hundred yards, as am winging a large mosaic overlay crochet project. They were out of Winter Glow #13, but I am going to add in rows of WG solid in two of the colors found in the 13 gradient cake, which will be just perfect!

    I have been ordering from Hobbii for well over a year now. I love the Rainbow cotton yarn. It is super easy to work with, washes and dries well, and has a large selection of colors. Hobbii’s order to delivery time is super fast, also. From Hobbii (Denmark) too me (Mississippi) takes 5-7 days. That is faster than any of the USA companies I have ordered from. A solid 10 out of 10 from me. 🙂

    Very useful. I am looking forward to the projects you make from their yarns. I from Hobbii relatively often also when I make your patterns as it's not easy to get the US yarns in Slovakia. Amazon's shipping makes it too expensive. And right now I have 4 cakes of that Twister yarn, yay!

      the Aran Megaballs are huge and a great 4 weight. Trey looking for it under Aran as regards a 4 weight in Europe. 4ply in Europe is 2 weight in u.s.

      4 ply or CYC size 4?? Outside of the US, 4 ply is MUCH smaller than size #4 here. They have LOTS of 4 ply, but it is not CYC size 4.

    Okay, I guess I just woke up on the wrong side of the recliner, but... I guess I've reached the pique of my tolerance of people pronouncing polyAmide without the A in the middle. Amides (AM•ides) are very important in natural/organic, and synthetic chemistry. It is properly pronounced with stress on the "AM" syllable. The word itself literally means 'multiple amides". It just won't stretch from one syllable to the other without the A. Ya gotta say the A. Ya just gotta.
    Or just call it by it's other name, "nylon". . . But be warned, though, that won't have any stretch or flexibility without the Y. Ya just can't crochet or knit with ''nlon''. Did you know its cousin, "nylon on steroids", whose name is Kevlar, could do nothing to protect Police, Military or Fireman without the A - or the Y for that matter?
    Ope! Ya may as well call viscose "rayon". It's nothing without the A in it, what with all the AMides and everything.

    • @k3llyhansen816
      @k3llyhansen816 2 роки тому +2

      Thank you for the laugh. I also enjoyed learning about the relationship between kevlar and yarn. You schooled us, but you did it with humor. Thank you.

      @@k3llyhansen816 You betcha, it's kind of like Popeye, it AM what it AM -- only when he says it, he sounds like a yam, "I yam what I yam". While he's no polymath, we have heard him repeat that phrase in a multiplicity of times... get it? ...poly ams? LOL
      P.S. if anybody doesn't get the joke it might help if you knew what a polymath is, so, if ya look that up, it's a person of many skills/talents/even professions or trades (our guy Popeye is a simple uncomplicated guy) and the rest is based upon my previous comment about saying the A in polyamide

    • @kayceegreer4418
      @kayceegreer4418 2 роки тому +3

      @@k3llyhansen816 want to know something cool about viscose rayon? It is the short cotton staple that doesn't get used that sort of sloughs out of the yarn making process - btw, in the textile industry, all thread that makes up fabric (material) is called yarn...all of it - they use chemicals to change the molecular structure of these little fine short staple cotton fibers, (which are the very ones which make lint) that they didn't want it to go to waste back in the day, with chemicals making it a synthetic-ish product which can then be extruded like all other synthetics through a spinneret and quickly cooled by a jet spray of cool air or by a mist of water droplets thereafter which will cause a cramp that will resemble the crimp of ordinary cotton staple. This is mostly done with any synthetic that will be used as a knitting or crochet or other fiber art yarn.
      Nylon that is used in stretchy things is not going to be crimped usually because that would destabilize its strength to be sure. And for the windbreakers and water-resistant fabrics, it would reduce their effectiveness. However they would crimp any nylon that is used in sportswear that wicks moisture away from the body, which means that sweat will travel along the path of the "yarns" and be evaporated.
      Oho, the things we take for granted, huh?
