Can’t waaaaaiiiiit!! I have such a small yarn budget, I can’t afford to buy a bunch and find out for myself, so I LIVE for your reviews! I appreciate you so much.
It‘s kinda nice that Hobbii nearly constantly has yarns on sale. I always wait for the yarn(s) i want/need to be on sale and then i grab‘em. Metallico is a pretty good example being on sale with 50% off quite regularly.
@@SharonsUniverse I was very surprised the first time I bought silk yarn, it has quite a bit of texture to it, it’s not smooth in the way silk fabric is. My hair is very long and I sleep with a silk bonnet every night, it’s great. Amazon has several, my favorite is the Yanibest mulberry silk lined sleep cap.
Thank you for trying out yarns that I would never think to buy for myself. :) And thank you for giving me a new color combination to try: light aqua, pink and taupe. I loved the look of the Pearly Haze.
Based on your review, I’m in for Cotton Silk! Love silk in any form, and this combination is so intriguing! Thanks for another great review… and wow! Great nails!
Ms. Yarn Snob, love the honest yarn reviews. I was taught to crochet as a child & since retired, I am getting back into it. Reviews help to build a yarn stash. Would love a video on how to select projects for different yarns.
What are the metal Tunisian hooks that you use? I really like Hobbii yarns, but have taken a break from buying yarns while I finish projects. Thanks for reviewing some interesting yarns.
Very interested in the cotton silk yarn, I definitely prefer plant fibres overall but I'm like you when it comes to acrylic, I just don't like that plasticy feel
I couldn't find a review for the Rainbow Bamboo. That is, hands down, my favorite from Hobbii using a 3.50 mm hook. Their Cotton Merino is working up nicely with a 3.50 mm hook. 3.00 or 3.25 mm would have been better, but I had to bump up to hit gauge for the project I'm working on. I know the trend these days is chunky and that plush yarn, but I can't get on that band wagon. I can't stand bulky yarns, and even worsted is a compromise. Friends 8/8 Cotton is a no for me - way too splitty. Their thinner cotton yarns, though, are great. I understand you're adverse to shiny, but they have a lovely mercerized cotton. ☺I have 8 balls of Happy Place on their way to me right now!
Yup, I too am up for the Friends Cotton Silk. I'm always amazed at how nice Hobbii's yarns are and prefer them over the major US company yarns in many cases. Thanks for this review looking forward to your next one.
Love your yarn review videos! I want to learn more about those swirl yarns like Sheepjes Twirl. Also hand dyed yarns like Hedgehog Fibers, it’s hard to picture what type of project looks nice with them other than a shawl. But I love the look of them wrapped up in the hank, it’s hard to even put it into a cake! 😂
Love the detail you provide with these yarn reviews. They have really helped in choosing yarns for my projects. Especially appreciate your suggested projects for each one. Look foward to getting some of the cotton silk. Keep doing what you’re doing. ❤
I would like if you could somehow do video tutorials that could be purchased that would be like taking a class with you. As a newbie to crochet, I love your turorial videos, but I would like longer videos where you completed the project, such as a cardigan. If you already have such videos that can be purchased, please let me know! I do so enjoy your passion for your craft!
Toni, your reviews are so descriptive and eloquent. That’s important when I am ordering a yarn from a website. I trust your opinion and insight and your rich descriptions are like poetry. I also appreciate you suggest appropriate projects for each yarn you are reviewing.
JUDY. It's weird that this is new. I bought some over a year ago when it was going to be discontinued & as it's my name sake. I told everyone that it was named after me 😊
If you've already done this and I've missed it, I'm sorry! But I would love to see a ruthless yarn snob review video of a roundup of worsted weight acrylics available from different brands right now!! 😍😂😅
I loooves the bunny chunky yarn. ❤ it screams amigurumi!!! 😊 in the past I used Nylon yarn for my amigurumi as it was more durable than wool. But lately I discovered the chunky yarn. Haven't tried it but watching you work with it I am excited to order some! The subtle shine might do some justice to my creations. 😊 Thank you for sharing!
Learned tunisian from you, have done a few of your projects and ALWAYS turn to TL Yarn crafts for how-to's/reviews. Now my question is how in the world have I NOT subscribed to you yet!!! *gasp* my bad!!
Hello, I just found your channel and subscribed. Thank you for the very informative reviews. Hobbii is my favorite yarn website and I am going to try the Pearly Haze. It was on Black Friday sale at $5.50 a ball. Wow, that's a deal. 🙂I wouldn't be able to buy enough for a top if it was at regular price.
Wondering if you have ever considered reviewing Cascade yarns? I have been working with their dk superwash 220 and the heather colors are AMAZING! Also, I would just love to see you do a video on how to calculate stitch multiples for patterns when you want to adjust a size. Many designers have beautiful patterns I would love to play with but I always struggle with figuring the stitch multiples when they are not provided! A very frustrating element of my crochet journey. Many thanks for all the wonderful work you share and I do love your effervescence!
Toni you should definitely hit up your local joanns sometime! Theres a few new yarns I've noticed I would love to see a yarn snob's opinion on, like Bernat Plush, Basic Stitch Anti-Microbial, and the new Landscapes variant. I think theres also a new version of Forever Fleece
I would love to work with them one day since it’s my home country just ordered Sultan Shadow red/black before that the 8/8 color packs x2 2 different color ways. I’m excited.
I really love Hobbii yarn but I do wait until I can buy it for less. I have a stash of Pearly Haze in the muted yellow color. Still looking for a pattern.
Try something like a Star Stitch, Jasmine Stitch or something else incorporating some dense longish loops. Especially with darker colors, the fluffy wool outlines the stitches like a contour, which gives the project an almost cartoonish look. This got me totally hooked on Metallico, a similar yarn and possibly a great companion to Pearly Haze.
In your opinion, is Milky Way similar to Umami? In what ways/or not? I really like the Umami-yarn from Hobbii, but I prefer the colorways of Milky Way!
I’m excited to try Hobbii’s friends cotton silk. Living in FL I’m always looking for lighter weight garment worthy yarn. This looks like a good one and I absolutely love the first one with the sheen - a bit expensive but I MUST try it. 😂
I am just learning Tunisian Crochet. I would love to see some new types of stitches. Maybe a swatch of 5 stitches? Love your videos. I'm watching as many as I have time for.
Have you done a review of some of the seriously cheap box store yarns - love this yarn from hobby lobby, the big twist plain Jane cheapy acrylic, mainstays from Walmart etc? I’m curious you take and if you have similar priced better quality alternative suggestions (especially online only offerings for those of us who like to feel first lol)
Wanted to love the paper yarn, I really did. But both the hands-on work and final result were disastrous at best haha. Oh well. The jute was more successful but not as enjoyable an experience as with other Hobbii yarns I’ve tried. I concur re Friends - a consistent staple.
I do love hobbii yarns but I have promised myself not to buy any more yarn until I have reduced my stash by about 50%. With 2 baby blankets and a scarf or two to make I think I may be buying some soon.
This is a cautionary note on ordering internationally. I ordered 12 skeins of yarn from Hobbii to make a throw. I didn’t pay attention to size of the skeins and received tiny skeins that will never be enough to make a throw. I accept full responsibility for that error. The color was not true to the pictures on the website either so I decided to return them. That is, until I got to the post office. The cheapest postage to return them costs more than the original cost of the yarn, so I will have to try to sell them privately. Buying online internationally may work for more experienced crocheters but it’s clearly not for me!
A question I've been meaning to ask, is there a way to convert a tunisian crochet pattern to a regular crochet pattern? I love some of your designs but I don't tunisian crochet so I can't do them!
It is to me. I never get what I think it’s going to be. I’ve ordered so much and wasted so much money because it’s never enough or the color I expected.
can you please do a Yarn Snob video of the new Eddie Bauer yarn at joann’s? I love your yarn snob videos and have been wanting to know your opinion on this collection
Love your yarn snob videos!!! So glad you made another one, Toni! I am excited to try Hobbii's Cotton Silk. That looks amazing. The Paulina paper type yarn you used though made me cringe just watching you try to stitch with it! Yikes!
Hey Toni, I just love your content. YOU are the one who got me stitching to begin with !! As a suggestion (and because i live in Canada and am originally from the east coast) the US dollar is very strong up here and a lot of Canadian makers will ship to the US for free with a minimum purchase (or might welcome publicicity and send you some goodies to review!). I’m currently working with hand dyed yarn from Lichen and Lace - which for a skein of sock yarn (for example) is about $17 USD I think; they custom dye to order, have a ‘sock box’ and mystery boxes, and have bases in sock, super wash, mohair and … something a bit bulkier than sock. Not inexpensive obv, but for hand dyed products also a good price. Some other local (to me) ones to check out: The creative knitter, Full Moon Fibres, and Leo & Roxy. A local maker, Nancy - of knit, sip, happy - also has some great reviews of the yarn she uses (she tries to shop local as much as possible - which I realize isn’t possible for everyone). Anyway, LOVE your work
Paper yarn sounds so weird, but I have a sunhat I bought years ago that says it is made from paper, and I have packed it and folded it and worn it, and it really holds up! Even though the yarn was a bit tough to work with, it might make a super unique project.
Just LOVE your new hairdo!!! So pretty! I really enjoy your videos. I really just wanted to say Thank you for sharing your talents and knowledge. God Bless.
I'm not a woman who does her nails at all but I had to keep rewinding and rewinding your video because your incredible fingernail art was so distracting. Your stylist did a FANTASTIC job! And, as always, you did an fantastic job here today as well! I love your channel. You bring little rays of sunshine into my life :) Now on to my feedback: I have stopped using acrylic completely; something about working with only wools and cotton the last five years makes acrylic feel like a cheap substitute in my hands. I don't like the way it binds off; the tails always slip a bit so afghans I've made years ago start to look a little unraveled and ends do stick out. However, that Milky Way yarn might bring me back to try a cardigan project with. I envision a short coat made with it, and lined with a nice, shiny fabric inside to give it extra flair. I will definitely try the friends cotton silk, that looks amazing. I'd love to see another video of you creating something; my favorites this year have been you making your temperature blanket, and the sweaters you made for the events you went to. It's fun to watch you being creative on the fly and figuring out stuff as you go. Also, having your pets participate gives extra bonus points :)
I bought some of their Universe cakes and they're fantastic! I made a beaded shawl and every time I wear it people ask where I got it. I'm also impressed with how fast their shipping is. That pearl yarn looks amazing!
You convinced me to subscribe. And I agree, your personality IS effervescent! I'm not even fully watching the videos currently, I just have you on auto play listening to you talk while I focus on my project 😂 you are so pleasant to listen to.
Hi Toni!! I love your yarn reviews so much, I was hoping you could review Bernat's new Casa yarn next time! It looks really fun and interesting, and I would love to know your opinion on it!
If I wasn't already halfway through my Kima Cardi, I would be on that Milky Way so fast! 😂 I'll have to hope it still around next time I'm buying yarn, it would make some really nice squishy gifting hats!
Thanks Toni! I’m excited to try several of the yarns that you presented but I need to work with some of the WIPs that I already have and get to one of my projects with your Happy Place yarn. I’ve been busy lately so I haven’t crocheted in a couple weeks 😭. Thanks for your motivation Toni!
The price on the first yarn seems ridiculous, as it's viscose and not silk. The second to last was silk, and half the price!!! Silk is expensive, viscose is not 🤷♀️
I think I’d get one skein each of the jute and the paper yarns to use for gift wrapping g! Pearly Haze and the Friends cotton/silk will surely end up in my cart soon. Just need to decide on patterns and choose colors
I remember when I was a little girl and my Aunt taught me how to crochet or knit I forgot how I just pulled up knitting for beginners and the first two instructors made me feel like I was in a dark room lol😂. Your video came up and I listened in and I love it I get lost in you talking and teaching. Thank you so much Auntie Toni for catching my attention ❣️
Can’t waaaaaiiiiit!! I have such a small yarn budget, I can’t afford to buy a bunch and find out for myself, so I LIVE for your reviews! I appreciate you so much.

Your reviews are so robust; you cover everything. Thanks SO much. Long time subscriber -- hoping others join the club!
😊
Milky Way is so pretty, I'd love to make a blanket out of it.
Me too! Or a big fluffy sweater. 😊
You would need 15-17 skeins, it would cost £238 for 17 balls, £224 for 16 and £210 for 15! Hope this helped!
Oh my, that cotton silk looks *amazing*. Just added it to my hobbii favorites list!
My friend gifted me a a skein and it’s lovely! I kept having to stop my project to feel how soft it was :)
I would love to try it for a hair cap. Wondering If the silk is enough for a night cap. Satin or silk hair caps are said to be better to sleep with.
@@SharonsUniverse I was very surprised the first time I bought silk yarn, it has quite a bit of texture to it, it’s not smooth in the way silk fabric is. Thanks for the review, I just wish I could afford more,
I always love your Yarn Snob reviews! Thanks for another great video ❤
Pearly Haze is a more expensive dupe of Ice Yarn's Picasso.
Gotta try that Cotton Silk. And Toni you be lookin’ GORGEOUS in this video! Had to be said. :) Love from Oregon!

I made my friend a huge shawl in rainbow bamboo and fell totally in love! The drape, the shine, the feel - amazing
I loved the cotton silk. If I didn't have so much yarn..... I will keep it on my wish list 😊
Yup, I too am up for the Friends Cotton Silk. I'm always amazed at how nice Hobbii's yarns are and prefer them over the major US company yarns in many cases. Thanks for this review looking forward to your next one.
The cotton silk blend caught my eye. Have yet to purchase any yarns from Hobbii so this will have to go into the cart with Happy Place.
Is the yarn snob playlist going to be updated?
"...and housecoats." she says casually.
Me: 😳 (runs off to add another WIP)

I guess I’ll just keep living vicariously through you - in terms of Hobbii yarns - until they decide to expand the countries they ship to 🤷🏻♀️
Smart decision because the cost of returning is prohibitive!
Im already a subscriber. Thanks for the reviews.
shimmer yarn is good for Hats

I just bought MORE Happy Place. I'm sure these are great, but Happy Place is amazing

Well, I live in Hobbii-land and have a yarn shop nearby. I shop a lot there, online too (I'm lazy!).
Yay, finally a Yarn Snob review of something that I can also buy here in Europe! I’ve been wanting to try Hobbii ❤

I'm curious if you have reviewed the Lion Brand Mandala yarn yet?
Where did you find metal tunisian crochet hooks???I love the shiny yarn.
I would love a go to yarns video. What yarns do you reach for over and over? How do they hold up over time?
Why does it look like you can always find the center pull immediately?
I find Hobbii is pretty pricey. I wait until they reduce their prices!😊
I love all of your reviews!!! Could you design a sweater for a girl of 9 years?
i literally just received my happy place and put myself on a yarn ban 😢
What does one do with paper yarn? How would you clean it?
Already subscribed months ago
K+C just came out with a line pretty much the same
Hi tonia love them all keep doing what you llove best ❤
Paper yarn?! NOPE! Hard pass for me 😬
I live for Yarn Snob reviews! You are so great!
what's urs all time fave yarn?
I’ve made a great handbag out of raffia paper, it was unpleasant to use, but the finished product is great
Wait, what?? You’ve never been called effervescent before?? How is that possible? You’re the very definition of effervescent.😊 PS: wow, those NAILS! ✨
Just LOVE your new hairdo!!! So pretty! I really enjoy your videos. I really just wanted to say Thank you for sharing your talents and knowledge. God Bless.
I'd love for you to try/collaborate with Arcane Fibre Works....the color ways of their hand dyed yarns are TO DIE FOR!!!! The master dyer is an artist
I'm not a woman who does her nails at all but I had to keep rewinding and rewinding your video because your incredible fingernail art was so distracting. Your stylist did a FANTASTIC job!
And, as always, you did an fantastic job here today as well! I love your channel. You bring little rays of sunshine into my life :)
Now on to my feedback: I have stopped using acrylic completely; something about working with only wools and cotton the last five years makes acrylic feel like a cheap substitute in my hands.
I would LOVE to see you make a new temperature blanket out of Happy Place for 2024!!!😍❤️ its gonna be my first one, and i’m so excited!!🥹
I bought some of their Universe cakes and they're fantastic! I made a beaded shawl and every time I wear it people ask where I got it. I'm also impressed with how fast their shipping is. That pearl yarn looks amazing!
I have that exact water bottle but in black.
wanting to live in the US and seeing that yall dont use sports weight yarns are scaring me. lol those are soooo thick
I live in the US and use sport weight lol
You convinced me to subscribe. And I agree, your personality IS effervescent! I'm not even fully watching the videos currently, I just have you on auto play listening to you talk while I focus on my project 😂 you are so pleasant to listen to.
lol I subscribed! You deserve it!
Pearl Haze looks GORGEOUS, but ouch that price tag. Hopefully it will go on sale one day!
Hi Toni!! I love your yarn reviews so much, I was hoping you could review Bernat's new Casa yarn next time! It looks really fun and interesting, and I would love to know your opinion on it!
Not only did I subscribe after 1 video, I run to your channel for every question. Thank you for being so amazing and helpful🥰.
If I wasn't already halfway through my Kima Cardi, I would be on that Milky Way so fast! 😂 I'll have to hope it still around next time I'm buying yarn, it would make some really nice squishy gifting hats!
👍🏿Toni I appreciate your honest reviews . I am thinking about making a poncho and can't wait to try Happy Place .

That cotton/silk blend may be a good alternative to Happy Place for those with wool allergies. It would make a great Summer Tank!
I think I’d get one skein each of the jute and the paper yarns to use for gift wrapping g! Pearly Haze and the Friends cotton/silk will surely end up in my cart soon. Just need to decide on patterns and choose colors
You look so pretty in this video!
Does hobbii yarn have any connection to hobby lobby; I am confused.
No, not at all. Two different stores.
The Pearly Haze!! Oh man!! 😫
