I'm convinced the lawyer knows it's a pump and dump. He knows what kind of guy Tony is. Would he really look to Tony for genuine stock tips? Also I thought the look he gave Tony was like a knowing smirk.
He continues to be Tony's lawyer long after the stock is gone, so I assume he didn't lose a ton of money because of him. Tony probably gave him a heads up to sell.
tony's lawyer says he only bills tony for time spent in the courtroom, but you know a lawyer isn't going to offer consultations for free. "stock tips" like that are one of the ways tony pays his lawyer for out of court work. same thing when tony drops off a case of expensive booze as a "friendly gift"
Regarding the stock scheme, the guys Tony was talking to were the insiders, they invested big money to buy a ton of stocks and they will get the signal to cash out when the stock is at the height of the pump. It's the poor schmucks that the firm is tricking into leveraging a significant amount of their life savings that will be devastated when the stock crashes
I would have to say Neil is in on the scam. If there is one person Tony would not want to piss off, it would be his lawyer.
