In today’s segment, I will cover the Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM) and how it is used in the Waterfall Environment to track and manage the relationship between various project requirements and the deliverables throughout the project lifecycle. The Requirements Traceability Matrix serves as a powerful tool to ensure that all project requirements are met and validated during different phases of the project. It helps in establishing a clear link between the initial requirements, design, development, testing, and final implementation of the project.

Should it be the name of the document or there should be an ID that the UX/Systems architect has allocated to the doc, just like requirements have ID's?

Very informative. But how does RTM work in agile environment
That's a great question! Tools in agile such as Jira and many other tools allow us to do this seamlessly. In waterfall since most of the time requirements are in MS Word - we have to create a manual RTM. Hope this helps!

How to handle if any requirements are missed ? I faced this question in a recent interview. Can you pls help me answer this question
That's a great question - my answer to that would be while there shouldn't be any missing requirements from the RTM; if requirements are missing my first step is to investigate why the requirements are missing in the 1st place

I still not clear about why RTM mainly applied in Waterfall. You said it is because Waterfall mainly use Excel, Word. Then what do Agile use? And how does that make a different? Thank you so much!
That's a great question - in Agile we use system such as Jira to keep track of what function we are working on and delivering and therefore an export of the Sprint Board is sufficient.
