💡 Requirement Traceability Matrix (RTM) is a document that maps and traces user requirement with test cases. The main purpose of Requirement Traceability Matrix is to validate that all requirements are TESTED by ATLEAST ONE TEST CASE. So that no functionality is unchecked during Software testing.
💡How a RTM should be?
It should be bidirectional. If there is a change in the EPIC or User story, the team should be able to determine the impacted code and the test cases written for them.
If there is a bug in the test, then the team should be able to track all the way up to determine which user story or epic will get affected because of this bug.
💡 In this video, I have tried my best to explaining the requirement traceability matrix. Requirement Traceability Matrix (RTM) is a document falls under Waterfall methodology.
💡 If it's a waterfall product, that doesn't mean, it can't be used in Agile. What you see in this video is a perfect fit for Agile. Incase you get his question in your interviews, use this template and explain.
