After ignoring S-tier cat for so long, the double cat build was one of the most satisfying redemption arcs I've witnessed on this series. What a beautiful moment

That cat build was actually so Pog. That build could have gone to 100 wins... after many cans you replace the whole squad with Leopard (at start of battle deal 50% attack damage to 3 random enemies).
25dmg x 15 at start, and then you still have to battle all 5 full stack meloned leopards.
Tiger leopard is the best combo

If your scale depends on your cat, then the less you can invest on other items.
But if you got your melons early and shit, cat gourmet can be a way to go

38:00 For anyone wondering about the gorilla/cow play, NL is wrong. When he bought the cow, the first thing that would've happened is that the gorilla shifts to the left, then the milk would occupy the 2 food spaces. So he could have bought both.
I can see why UA-cam recommends you upload often and on a schedule. Once you get hooked on a certain game or subject you start binge watching it like crazy and you look for new content everyday. I've must of watched dozens of these Super Auto Pets vids now. Scary how accurate UA-cam recommendations are, they got that psychology shit on how to get people to watch more on lock.

Apparently each cat adds a +1/2/3x effect multiplier on food (2 level 2's added +4x effect) despite its text

2 level 2s made the pear give +10 to the worm so it's a 5x effect. The multiplier equals total cat-levels +1.

I discovered something they didn't put in the patch notes. You can now overheal with units like the Hippo. Before, an injured hippo that had previously been 50/50 would never gain more HP, even if it was taking small hits. Now, a hippo gets +2/4/6 HP when it knocks out an enemy unless its CURRENT HP is 50. It makes hippo's mid-game sustain a *lot* stronger, since they can exceed 50 effective HP. I can't think of any other unit that can reliably heal itself like that, since most units that gain HP do so in response to units ahead of them doing things, like the Shark gaining HP off faints.

playing 1:43 forward for ya. overall you have a .5166 (repeating, of course) chance to win, but the ant must buff a cricket. given that the ant got squito'd, you had a 1/4 win chance as the ant had to buff cricket #2. rip.

The usefulness of the whale escapes me.
It's fairly bad. The idea is to trigger a faint effect more than once. If you put an ant in front, it will trigger the faint effect when swallowed, then when the whale dies, the ant will spawn again, and when it dies for real then it will trigger a 2nd faint effect.
It will spit out the swallowed unit at the same tier as the whale. Meaning level 2 whale can swallow a level 1 deer, spawn a level 1 bus, then when the whale dies, a level 2 deer will spawn, which will spawn a level 2 bus.
Whale works the best when you can upgrade it early. If you upgrade whale to level 2 while you're still on tier 3 units in the shop, and get a deer as one of your rewards for upgrading, you've basically got a level 1 AND level 2 bus before deer even appears in the shop.
The best synergy is probably deer. Flamingo, ant and mammoth are all decent targets too; they all give buffs. Sheep can work but you usually end up getting 3 rams rather than 4 because of capacity. Hedgehog and badger (AOE damage) are situational but can work. Rooster is usually (always?) bad because of capacity and the stat reduction. That's all the units with faint triggers in the F2P pack.
The worst thing is that the unit which is swallowed and spat out loses its stats and equipment, so it can be a significant debuff just to get 1 more faint trigger. That's why deer is the best synergy, because you don't usually rely on the stats of the deer, but on the stats of the bus that the deer spawns.
I think a sensible buff to whale would be to have it retain the stats of the swallowed unit.

I've got to say. I think you're overpilling. The games you go down pilling every Ant and Flamingo you see are the ones you lose.
But when you find a good build and solidify it early you have much more leeway for getting to the late game for the juicy units.

Even if it didn't work on can, cat is OP. Having 2x level 1 cats gives you the same benefit as a level 3 cat (which would take 6 cats/chocos to get) is absolutely insane, and all you lose for that is 1 additional slot. After a few rounds, the cats themselves can easily be 20/20 or more, so they're not even wasting space.

On the Cow / Gorrilla debate around 38:30, the gorrila would actually slot into the position the cow was in before the milk shows up so you would have been fine (i know this because i had literally the same debate and chanced it and it paid off.
Bee should have an ability that makes it keep cupcake upgrades between turns, memey setup but maybe potent.

Cats are extremely strong scaling, pretty much beats most scaling builds if you can get rolling

It would be forever, but any damage taken in the shop is permanent, so that’s not a great idea
@@JokerDoom well I feel like coconut armor is worth 5 damage since it makes you invincible to the next hit. How frequently are you going to be hit for less then 5 damage when you have a gorrila? It's like pilling a turtle but better right?

Had a crazy 10-2 where I got a level 3 monkey and a level 3 hippo with melon armor. I learned that the highest stats the game will display are 50/50...

This game looks really fun, so I downloaded and gave it a go. I had a few good runs but it just feels like the only way to win FTP is to get a monkey early. Eventually, if my luck is anywhere between ok to great, i get wrecked by a random unit thats obviously been monkey buffed every time.
Monkeys are good, but they rarely ever show up for me for some reason. What I do is chain 2-3 dodos (highest to lowest attack) into a rooster at the end. That way they pass the attack buff along to the front and you get several super strong units. Combine with a turtle or melon armor from shop for a bit of bulk and you're golden. Gets me 10 wins almost every time.

I can string together some good runs now, and have some bad beats. I don't really have go to's yet. I just sort of work with what the shop gives. I think right after posting this I got 10 wins with some kind ox bunny kangaroo shenanigans. I just need to learn the timings of when to switch things up and when not to. I intentionally avoid meta guides to games like this because it sucks the fun out of it for me.
I like dota/smite because, while on the pro level, things may get stale, there's usually plenty of flex to make things work. Sure heroes are always stronger or weaker, but in most games you can run a lot of options. Auto battlers usually get figured out in a patch's first week or so. I do like how this game's eco works and how units vary between faint/buy/sell/hurt triggers. I really hated when going empty was worthwhile in Underlords, for example. Fuck that. This game encourages running optimally every round. Some times I take a risk in a round because next round really pops off but it's not because I have no units in field. It's because things are frozen and risking the L makes sense.
