CD Santa Clara is from the Azores. On the island of Sao Miguel. They have a long history and have played in the top flight several times as well as played in European competition. Most recently the Conference League a few years ago. They were relegated 22/23 from the top flight to the second league. Won the second league the next year 23/24 and returned to the top flight this season 24/25.
I appreciate all the effort you put in in trying to spell everything natively and that adds that extra spice to it! Great to see a mini interview with fans before the game too, good stuff! 🦅❤️🔥 Also Santa Clara has been to the first division some good amount of times before. Mostly recently and almost all this century. It's the biggest football club representation from Açores fun fact🦅: they had a Benfica look-alike emblem until this year
Thank you for your kind words! I try to be accurate but it's not always possible. The guys were great interview subjects :) And I appreciate the background info about Santa Clara. It seems I've underestimated them!
Curiosities: - Santa Clara used to be one of many affiliates from Benfica (they used to have a similar logo); - Di Maria turned down a inivitation from his friend Leo Messi to play in Miami; - Players in MLS formerly from Benfica: Petar Musa (FC Dallas), Diogo Gonçalves and Cristian Arango - never played - (Real Salt Lake), Hany Mukhtar (Nashville SC), Keaton Parks (NY City), Bruno Wilson - youth team - (SJ Earthquakes), Luís Martins (Vancouver Whitecaps); - Americans who played in Benfica: Freddy Adu, John Brooks and, the aforementioned, Mr. Parks.

thanks for the sub my friend! I was actually happy that Benfica gave up a goal so early - it made them have to play harder and the match was much more entertaining because of it! appreciate you!
